Booked all 4 rooms at The Ship and it was absolutely perfect. As it was a separate side door from the restaurant and it had a lovely little communal room that the bedrooms led to it really felt like you had your own house. Everything was spotlessly clean, very comfortable with a nice homely atmosphere. No hot breakfast but you could get a full Scottish fry up next door. A fantastic weekend.

Wonderful staff! Very kind even though we were running a bit late coming from Glasgow. We missed out on dinner both nights, which is a shame bc the restaurant had great reviews. We lucked out with an on street parking spot next to the inn, so we didn’t not move our car the two nights we were there. We took the bus into Edinburgh- convenient bus stop right across the street. Nice, clean quiet room. Sometimes trivia night or darts in the pub below the rooms - but never too loud. So glad we stayed outside of Edinburgh. We brought fish and chips back from a nearby place and enjoyed it in the common area. There was cereal, milk and juice and wonderful bread, butter and jam for toast in the common area. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Bit of a walk from the centre, but nice building. Friendly bar downstairs and enjoyed a lovely dinner in the restaurant. Comfy beds and lovely fresh bedding in the room. Excellent shower in nicely refurbished bathroom. Liked the shared kitchen area idea.

Room was very warm and opening the windows made it noisy and a too bit bright to sleep (mid June, so only dark for a few hours). Wasn't an exsessively warm night either, so must be a struggle sleeping int the height of summer. A hairdryer would have been a handy addition. Loaf of Warburtons left in the shared kitchen was 5 days out of date.

I was a bit surprised to see people cooking in the communal area but maybe I didn’t read the hotel description properly . Didn’t feel very private and if I had been travelling alone , I might have felt uncomfortable . Be perfect for a single group that wanted to rent out all 4 bedrooms together as communal space was nice . Was also disappointed that I couldn’t bring my dog . Nice touch to be able to have tea / toast etc . Food in restaurant and bar looked fab although we didn’t eat as arrived later than hoped .

3 night break at the ship inn. Room clean, comfortable with good bathroom and powerful shower. Shared area for fridge and additional seating. No noise in room despite being close to a main road and above the bar. Close to bus stop for trip into Edinburgh. No breakfast at premises but only a level 15 min walk into central Musselburgh where we had a great Scottish breakfast at Miros Village

Option of double rather than twin beds would of been nice but not a deal breaker

Extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean. Slept great! Really nice bedroom, also lovely bathroom with good hot shower, good water pressure. lots of fluffy towels. Will definitely stay again.

More breakfast food would have been nice, it was v minimal Price of room seemed high for being in Musselburgh/outside Edinburgh but I take the point that both the Festival and Ossis were in town when I stayed. ..

Location is great with fantastic public transport at the door. Room was clean. Controllable heating was more than enough for a night when it was -3 outside.

On Booking,com I booked a room described as “Double or twin”. In fact, there are no doubles here, only twins. They won’t make them up as doubles (I did ask). I wouldn’t have booked this accommodation if it had just said “twin”. The beds were quite poor - soft, saggy and I could feel the springs. The windows don’t give good sound isolation from the roads outside.

Everything I booked 2 night stay from Sat to Mon, but unfortunately I booked wrong date and young lady was very accommodating. Our room was lovely and beds were really comfy. Added bonus was lovely little communal area with kettle, fridge and free milk, cereal, bread butter and jam. Lovely restaurant and bar lounge which also sold food, we ate in both and food was delicious. All staff were amazing. We will certainly be back
