Very friendly and helpful host, he had excellent local knowledge. We stayed in the Romeo and Juliet and Juliet room. The space was a fabulous size, huge in fact, loved having a kitchen bench space separate to bedroom plus a great size bathroom. Being able to do our laundry was of most help. Lovely garden and homely feel.

The noise from the next room was a little disturbing, walls appear thin, so when they were up, so were we. Noise from other guests isn’t a reflection of the property of course, more lack of awareness from other guests. Our room was across from kitchen entry so if you like to sleep in, ask for a room further away. The owners lock the kitchen at 8pm which is really considerate thank you.

Location is really good, very close to lake side and a short walk to shops and food outlets. Room was very clean and tidy, but just not quite to our tastes. Low ceiling felt a bit odd for me as I am 1.9m plus. Bed was good and comfy and we both slept okay. Bathroom was good and looked fairly new. Breakfast was good for us as it was exactly what we would have at home. Liked the communal breakfast area and the chance to swap stories with other guests. Also, host Nathan was an encyclopaedia of local knowledge. Maybe breakfast could be enhanced by the addition of croissants and pastries to better live up to a continental style, but that is all.

No bedside lamps in room. My wife likes to read a while. Had to leave main room light on. Tea and coffee making facilities could be better, proper mugs and maybe housed on a proper shelf or unit rather than on top of fridge. In terms of value for money, considering the location etc. just about there, just a bit more in the room etc. But overall an enjoyable stay in a great location.

Very close to the town centre, only a 10 minute walk. Quiet for sleeping. Nathan was helpful when we checked in and gave some local restaurant recommendations.

The description on Booking. Com needs amending as there isn't a view, nor a tumbledryer or fridge in the advertised room. There is a communal fridge, which we used and laundry was $10 NZ a load if requested. We were disappointed with the continental breakfast at this B&B. There weren't any whole pieces of fresh fruit, e. g. Bananas, apples/kiwi fruit, just tinned fruit. Also, some croissants or small pastries would have made the selection on offer for a continental breakfast more appetising.

Couldn't complain at all. The whole establishment was spotless and in a great location, quiet, but only a short walk to the main street and just metres from lake Te Anau. A little unusual to be in something more reminiscent of an English B&B with a common breakfast room, but great to have access to a full kitchen at other times of the day and the hosts made us feel at home, starting conversations with all the guests and providing great travel tips. Highly recommended.

Nice room and very comfortable to stay at as a base to see the Sounds. The owners were very friendly, and the breakfast held a good array of foods. Location wise - about 2 min from the marina and start of some walks across the lake, about 15min walk into town along the scenic esplanade route (faster using backstreets).

Extremely minor but there was a light near the internal window (there is also an exterior facing window) which the curtains inside didn't entirely block out, however still managed a very comfortable night sleep

It was so comfortable, clean, close to the lake and town centre. While it was walkable from and to the town centre, the location also was super quiet that it allowed us a good night’s rest for the 2 nights we were there. The breakfast was good too and the coffee was one of the best i ever had in a while! Liz and Nathan was super helpful too and recommended good restaurants and sights to see going to milford sound.

The room was very clean and comfortable. It opened onto a communal area where you could sit and relax or play games/read etc. The breakfast was satisfying too. There was a fridge for guests to use and the host was extremely helpful in recommending places to go as well as local restaurants to try. The town with its many shops, cinema and laid back feel was within a short walking distance along with the lake and harbour.

Breakfast finished at 8.30am which is a little early for us but, having said that, we did have to be up earlier than usual to ensure we reached Milford Sound for our boat trip.

In fair Te Anau, where travelers rest their heads, A haven named for Shakespeare’s famed abode, In Juliet’s chamber, dreams find cozy beds, Forsooth, a dwelling where true comforts flowed. Our gracious host, a guide with noble grace, Didst steer us through the sights of yonder land, With counsel rich, as wisdom did embrace, An ally true, as if by fate’s own hand. The dwelling vast, a spacious, warm retreat, A comfort’s cradle in the southern air, Sweet dreams and respite in each gentle sheet, A tranquil haven, beyond compare. So, let this sonnet sing our praises true, To Shakespeare’s House, a gem in Te Anau.

Rooms looked new and were very clean, lots of tips and recommendations from the hosts, kitchen available to use , big fridge to use, coffee at bf was good , good wifi , walking distance to shops and restaurants

Tiny bathroom with small sink impossible to wash your face properly and with cold water, breakfast was ok except that there was one type of cheese and it was the plastic “fake” cheese which should not be served anywhere really, the set up was somehow a bit strange as to lobby and reception were outside the rooms …we were lucky with the other guest as they were super quiet but otherwise u would hear them next door and outside your door basically. No curtains so light came in and not possible to keep it dark

Nathan & Liz were great hosts, from their warm and detailed welcome through to the lovely breakfasts, including one of Nathan's cooked Kiwi Breakfasts. The room was clean and comfortable, and it was good to meet up with other guests from around the world in the kitchen/dining area. An ideal location, close to the lake front and centre of town. Highly recommend!
