We arrived early and the manager let us in , which was great. The room was very large although dated but everything was clean and worked well. Bathroom was good and water pressure also good, we had toiletries supplied so no drama there. We didn't know how to use the split system and the manager showed us with no problem, yes it is Asian run but we found they couldn't do enough for you, we ran out of sugar, and they were happy to give us more , also wanted a t-towel was hard for the woman to understand but eventually after her son (l presume ) explained she happily brought us some, there is a language problem with some staff (cleaners ) but the managers ; no problem, Its a big place and there were 2 busloads of tourists there while we were there , we stayed 2 nights, and there wasn't a problem, no noise . Place is quiet, wi-fi was good, there is a restaurant on site if you choose, and heating and cooling. We did have a fridge and coffee making facilities. I would happily stay there again if in the area....

Lovely place to stay. Off the main room so peaceful. Just a few minutes walk to the beautiful Lake Te Anau. Two hour drive to Milford Sound from here. Great to be able to park right outside our door. Our room was massive, with two double beds, a dining table and chairs, and a mini sofa, and still with plenty of room to walk around. It was very clean and comfortable. Had hairdryer, kettle, mugs and toaster. But no plates or cutlery which is weird when you have a toaster, but nevermind. Also, there is a washing machine and dryer for all to use, charged at 4 dollars each wash or dry. Happy to recommend.

Personal dislike: there is a very bright light outside the front door, which comes on at dusk. While there is a blind over the door window, it is not adequate enough to block this bright light. So if you need darkness in order to sleep well take an eye mask!

The location of The Village Inn was great, walking distance to Lake Te Anau. Room was reasonably clean and the bed was comfortable, but we have stayed in much nicer places for the price we paid during our trip of the South Island.

The toilet leaked when flushed. Shower head needs replacing with an adjustable one as it sprayed everywhere and I couldn't wash my hair without bending my knees and I am only 170cm, so it was worse for my husband. Kettle had black bits floating in it from the element, despite trying to clean it, we couldn't have a cup of tea or fill up our thermos.

The rooms were very clean, it had both a shower and a bath which was great having small children.

Room service was offered to us, we accepted the offer but we failed to receive it over the 3 days we stayed. Room had a toaster but no cutlery, plates or anything. Do realize the room is not self-catering but more utensils and cutlery would have been great. Going 4 days and 3 nights with just 2 glasses, 2 cups and one spoon was very inconvenient. Especially when a toaster is provided one needs cutlery.

The room was spotless! I mean really really clean. I did some exercises and I have never seen a carpet so clean and that's with my nose basically touching it. The bathroom was spotless up to the ceiling and in the corners. The shower was powerful and hot. The bedding was There was a TV with a smart TV attached which I didn't use. The receptionist was very friendly, welcoming and relaxed. A new very quiet and super efficient heat pump keeps the room toasty. Functionally there was nothing to fault.

From the outside it isn't the classiest architecture. Some might call it cheap and nasty! The reception is a bit old and tired. So expectations drop a little. I didn't mind the very short flat walk to the main street through a small park but some might want to be on the main street.

The gentleman in the front desk was very helpful and let us check in early as we were travelling ti Milford Sound and would have been returning too late to check in property otherwise. He also upgraded our room to include better kitchen facilities so that we could self cater if we returned too late for the Te Anau Restaurants which finish food service about 8pm generally. Theres also 10% off for residents in the restsurant attached to the hotel. The menu sounded new lovely but regret that we arrived back too late - thank goodness for the free kitchen upgrade 👍❤️ There was a laundry service available but we didn’t use it. Its not a luxury accommodation but its great value for money in an area that is in great demand. Would definitely recommend to others and stay again ourselves if the opportunity arises 👍the staff, particularly the gentleman on front desk were very friendly, extremely helpful and friendly.

All good from our perspective.

Room was spacious and clean and good proximity to lake. Check in was very easy and staff were accommodating. The quirky little signs above the rooms were a unique touch.

Overall the room was a little dark- brighter bulbs in at least some of the lights would help this. The blind covering the entrance door, however, let too much light in from the outside light and I need to cover it of a night. The addition of a microwave would be useful as this would make it even more budget friendly.

The rooms were clean and spacious with very comfortable beds. The food at the restaurant was also excellent, we enjoyed it very much and ate there 2 nights and a buffet breakfast. At reception, Humpfrey was absolutely amazing, he helped us with recommendations, was very accommodating and even taught us how to use chop sticks properly. Very surprising stay and we had a good time staying here.

The shower door of our unit did not close, so the bathroom floor flooded a bit, and the curtains didn't close all the way.

Interesting hotel with a unique theme in its construction. It is designed as an old shopping village from the early 1900s. Our room was clean and had all needed for a night in Tekapo. The bathroom was a little dated but the shower was excellent with great pressure. The wifi is on seperate modems and was very strong in the room.

Village Inn is a basic Motel. It is a good economical option for self drivers wanting to stay in Te Anau. There is plenty of free parking right in front of the room. The location is easy to find. Village Inn is not located in a scenic part of town. But, it is a short walk to the lake front or dining on the main street area. The room was larger and nicer than we expected.

There were minor maintenance issues with the room door locks that might have been a security risk in a less safe area.
