The hotel is located close to shops and restaurants, and not too far from the lake. Good place to use as a base to explore Milford and Doubtful sounds. Breakfast was very good.

The room was not available until very late on the day we checked in. the first lady we dealt with was very unfriendly and did not seem interested in helping. Her manager eventually took over and organized that we can book in. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night and we had to evacuate the hotel along with everyone else and stand outside for an hour until we could return.

Huge place! Love our room which had two huge beds. Lots of space and extremely clean. The toiletries smelt so good! Staff were really helpful at checkin. The included buffet breakfast was so delicious. The Portuguese custard cups were incredible as were the scrambled eggs. Lots of choices and great staff. The lovely lady who welcomed us was so attentive and helpful. We also had the buffet dinner (it was about $65 each) which I think was well worth the price. The chef carved all four roasts for us :) the food was absolutely delicious and plenty to go around for everyone. The hotel is close to everything. It’s a 2 minute walk to Real NZ (Fiordland bus and cruise depot which we took advantage of for the 7:45am departure) and the jet boat for Manapouri collection points.

(1) The room was conveniently divided into two sections and offered adequate privacy to a family of four. Both sections were equipped with closets and TV. The room was recently renovated. (2) Breaksfast restaurant is large and well furnished post a recent upgrade. (3) The housekeeping staff was courteous and efficient. (4) The breakfast restaurant staff was very efficient and well organised to handle the guests. (5) The hotel is an excellent location within easy reach of everything. (6) The front desk staff was very courteous and efficient.

(1) No cloth hangers were available since the hotel was still waiting to receive the non removable types. It was an odd oversight on the part of the management not to provide regular hangars in the closet in the interim. After a couple of requests to the reception, on of the staff sent us three wire hangars. (2) Room location was on the ground floor with windows opening into the parking lots. (3) Due to busy period, the breakfast bar was difficult to move around. Especially the bread slices and toaster are placed in the same hot servery creating a mini chaos while queing up. The passage between the main servery and the island servery is relatively narrow, making the movement relatively challenging. Hot food selection was mainly Asian type with not much diversity.

Had stayed here early 2020's looked tired. Hello 2024 room we had had a full funky makeover, very nice great comfy bed. All smelt fresh new & cared for. Well done Distinction Luxmore every penny spent on make over a good spend.

Keen mountain Bikers with kind off pricey bikes. No where could we store our bikes other than on the bike rack on our vehicle. So many hotels & motels have created storage spaces, cleaning points provide tools & charging points for e-bikes. This place Nothing, not even a bike rack outside hotel. You guys need to talk to your sister hotel in Rotorua. They value us & our recreational spend.

There was a false alarm that sent us all.outside at 10 pm. It was clear this had happened before as no one was in a rush to get us outside, the fire engines used no alarm sounds, etc etc. I hope the hotel fixes this problem as we had children already asleep and it was not a restful night. The breakfast food was adequate but nothing special.

. Sorry, the above were our concerns. Here are the good things: The parking lot was great to have, and we appreciated an extra fan as we were 5 in the two room family accomodation..

Our room was newly renovated and large, spacious and comfortable! The cleaning staff worked to keep everything spotless.

With the exception of the young woman who checked us in upon arrival, the front desk staff were very unfriendly!! They looked down everytime we walked by. Also they were going to close the laundry room at 10:00 pm saying there was ‘no staff’. No staff is needed to do a load of laundry!! We were out all day enjoying the area so the evenings were the only time to do it.

We stayed at Te Anau for a night. We reached the hotel in the late afternoon and check-in was very comfortable with the lady taking time to help us plan our next morning drive to Milford Sound. She shared all required details and guided us to the parking and other facilities in town, which are all walkable. We were able to enjoy the early breakfast at 6 am before leaving for Milford Sound by 6:15. The staff allowed us to keep our bags in the reception and we collected them on our return from Milford Sound.

We were happy with our room location on the third floor and the breakfast was very good.

In relation to the ceiling fan in the bathroom; I understand the operating time it runs for and the switching with the light. Although, the fan motor is extremely loud, and therefor the light cannot be turned on while others are sleeping as it automatically engages the fan to run. This now only allows the LED lights located under the basin to be used if you don't want the sound of a loud fan.

Conveniently located in the centre of town. Our room was spacious although the view of the carpark let it down in an otherwise stunningly picturesque location. Breakfast was buffet style with a good choice of either hot or cold food. The adjacent restaurant, owned by the hotel also has a good menu at reasonable prices. Good WiFi and plenty of free parking.

This hotel, along with many others in New Zealand will charge a 2% surcharge for using any non NZ debit or credit cards. This surcharge extends to the adjacent restaurant. It doesn’t make a huge difference but it should be pointed out at point of booking.

Room was nice, there’s a lovely little courtyard beside the rooms allowed for sitting out in the evening. Really good location for Te Anau - close to the lakefront and visitor’s centre. Special thanks to Joyce and Lionel at the front desk who found an item we’d left behind and posted it to us!

The hotel is on the street so there was some street level noise early in the morning/late at night, as well as from other nearby guests, but nothing too disruptive. The room was relatively expensive for the standard of accommodation, but we did book fairly last minute. We were told the hotel car park was full when we arrived, though luckily we found parking nearby without much trouble. Do maybe try and arrive early to get a spot.
