The Lakeside Motel is in an excellent location on the lakefront road, among a cluster of similarly placed motels within a 5-10 minute walk into town. I thought that the motel lived up to expectations - we were traveling as a family of 5 and were very comfortable in the 2 bedroom cabin that was clean and spacious. It's a motel so definitely check your expectations, but we couldn't have been happier. Check in was super easy, the staff very friendly, and there was a trampoline which my kids loved. I recommend staying here. For us, it was an overnight stop en route to Milford Sound.

Lakeside Motel & Apartments took us by surprise! We chose a stay in Te Anau purely based on its location - being close to both our Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound adventures. What we found was a lovely village set by the most stunning lake, and with Lakeside Motel & Apartments being in the best spot to enjoy this view! Across our travels - it perhaps offered the best view of all! Just stunning. Not only was the view stunning, but also the warm service offered by its team - before and during our stay. This makes a difference! We had a practical 1-bedroom apartment for the 3x of us, and it offered us plenty of space. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and we loved watching the gardens and the lake in the evenings. The kitchenette, complete with nice table and chairs, was also well equipped, and enabled us to enjoy a nice breakfast. The place was also within a short walking distance of a wide variety of bars and restaurants. We chose Italian and Mexican for dinner during our 2 days at the property. All in all - great few days - and we have very fond memories of our stay at Lakeside Motel & Apartments

The apartments have a shared terrace, which was unfortunately used as a walk-way by various groups during our stay (instead of using the back walkways). This reduced our privacy whilst in the apartment. Perhaps some large plant posts to be positioned between each apartment to reduce this flow of people across the walkway?

The property matched our expectations perfectly, and has very accurate information online. I chose this location as I wasn't it a little further away from the noise, but still close to town with a great view. Even though we arrived after check-in has closed, there were still ample parks and the after-hours check-in process was very straight forward (easy to understand). We were very grateful to have a lake-view 2 bedroom apartment which had everything we needed for a 2-night stay over New Years.

The only thing we didn't enjoy was the bed Solid as a rock... But that's very typical of a New Zealand motel so I didn't berate the motel because of it. If you like a more supportive bed you'll probably love it.

Spent the first night in a lakeside room which was extremely well appointed and comfortable. Great bed! Then we moved to a garden room for our next two nights. Again, very comfortable and clean. This room was more modest and less modern than the lakeside room, but still lovely and comfortable and well equipped. The bed a little saggy, probably needs a new mattress soon. The position is close to town and lovely views afforded of the lake. Staff courteous and very helpful.

We liked everything. Happily stayed here for 3 nights.

View of the lake is amazing. Handy location with an easy to walk to cafes, souvenir shops and ferry terminal for glow worms tour. Short drive to supermarket. I had stayed here a couple of years ago and the rooms looked run down, but our room had been newly renovated and was really lovely, modern and spacious. Central heating kept us toasty warm.

Wished it had a vent / fan over the stove top so the smell and smoke from cooking dinner didn't stay trapped in the room, setting off the smoke alarm and requiring us to open windows and doors on a cold and rainy evening. Otherwise, everything was great!

The lakeside location is excellent, and one feels special to be able to eat breakfast and dinner on the lawn faced with Lake Te Anau. I liked the separate toilet to the shower and basin for our family. I was a bit worried about the set-up of the family - single beds next to the kitchenette, small space but it seemed to work.

A sun blocking blind or sheer would have been useful for the hot, bright setting sun at a certain time of the day - we wanted to enjoy the view but couldn't without fully closing the curtain.

The room was comfortable and clean. We had a super view of the lake which is what we had hoped for. There was a good laundry where we could wash and dry our clothes which was incredibly important after walking the Milford Track!! AND most importantly there was a good HOT shower as after that walk we needed it!! The Motel is a comfortable walking distance to the town centre and is just a 5 minutes walk from the DOC centre where a lot of the trekking transport picks up and drops off.

Wow..I booked a room with a view, not expecting THE view we had. Glorious. The room facilities were great. Wish we could have stayed 2 nights, but the room wasnt available. Next time !

We found the lighting in the main room a little harsh and no bedside lamps made it challenging to read, but that is a very small concern. Having people sit at a 'picnic' table just outside our sliding door was a little disrupive with other guests sitting there - so we had to close the curtains for privacy, thus missing the view that we expressly booked the room for. We were in room 11. Perhaps move the tables further to the side of the lawn or further towards the road/footpath.

Comfy bed, beautiful location, staff was very friendly and thoughtful. All amenities are well equipped, everything is there for cooking, coffee and etc.

I stayed with my sister, I wanted to some soaking in bathtub that I was excited to having relax after long hours driving. Before dinner my sister had a quick shower then I tried to have bathing after dinner around 8.30pm. But hot water wasn't running..... only luke warm water... I waited for half an hour then tried again, but still room temperature water running,, so I had a bit chilly shower and gave up bathing...

Smooth check in, well appointed apartment, would have been good to have had a separate bedroom (they have some rooms like this) so would do that next time. Right on the lake, manager was lovely and offered me cleaning things after daughter sick in car. Great base for exploring Te Anau and Milford/Doubtful Great washing and drying facilities, would be great if there was a chair for people who wanted to stay with their washing
