The hotel was first established I think around 1700 has a lot of character and reflects history and this appeals to us having stayed here 2/3 times before. Although a bit dated and the room (no 9) could do with some tlc ie wallpaper beginning to peel, it was very clean and we will stay again. Staff were welcoming and the bar has a lot of character. Character = very creaky floors in bedrooms.

Breakfast was plentiful but quality was lacking on this occasion, scrambled egg and smoked salmon - egg a bit tasteless and appeared like powdered egg? The salmon was very tasty. The toast was cold and didn't feel fresh. My wife had pancakes with bacon, the bacon was quite fatty and might be better to ask for it to be well done or crispy! Cereals and juices etc were all fine.

Lovely little village up the hill from Pitlochry. Fabulous old building with tonnes of character. Decent food (albeit a tad expensive) and a good selection of localy brewed cask ales (the brewery and tap room are just next door). Room was a little tired but bed was comfy and had a good sleep. Nice friendly staff. Not our first visit, and hopefully won't be our last.

A fair bit outside Pitlochry, just be aware before you try to walk down the the town - it's uphill all the way back. Requested twin beds via Booking.com during both our initial booking and via a special request email yet the hotel had not been informed of this by Booking.com. I had a copy of my reservation, and fortunately there was still a housekeeper on site to remedy the situation. Not the first time I've experienced this with this booking site. Be aware and ensure you get confirmation from the hotel themselves before you travel.

The variety for both breakfast and dinner was considerably superior that that I had experienced in an "old stately home" hotel. I knew the location of the hotel so it suited my needs

This was an old building, not of stately home quality, so I was not expecting spectacular decor. I did find negotiating the stairs, with luggage, a challenge, particularly the stairs leading up from the ground floor where the treads were very narrow, descending required great care. However, this was an old working building and it will not be easy/practical to make alterations.

What a beautifully presented hotel, With a lovely warm welcome, I was in room 12 a standard room with a 4post bed ! The room and bathroom were spotless, the bed comfy and there were tea / coffee / kettle with shortbread which made it ideal for a quite 20minutes after travelling. The bar downstairs was well appointed and with reasonable prices. Breakfast was superb , with locally sourced products and a good choice. I would say there is no doubt that I would stay again and a little longer and have no hesitation in bringing my wife and friends to what is a charming and romantic wee gem of a hotel

The hospitality was excellent and the staff team were brilliant. We felt very welcome! It was a great base for our hill walk the next day. The dinner menu was brilliant and the service was friendly and professional. The room was basic but immaculate and I think great value for money. Overall we had a great time and will definitely return. Thank you all!

There were other guests who didn’t keep their dogs under their table at dinner. Dogs in furniture or off leads is unacceptable in any restaurant or pub. This is nothing to do with the hotel as they tried to manage this with clear signage and polite requests but the self righteous dog owners need to have more respect.

Very characterful pub, extensive menu choice and what we ate was delicious, good beer from on site brewery, comfortable room with traditional Scottish decor, excellent breakfast in attractive room overlooking garden, friendly staff.

They don't take reservations for evening meals, but it wasn't a problem for us on a Friday evening and they indicated before arrival that a table would become available whilst we waited in bar Shower hose needs attention, corroded and leaking but shower remained powerful.

Charming , unique hotel . Very old but as I said classic charm .. minor plumbing issue but quickly solved by staff . Dining room service and food fabulous . Breakfast was included , we did not know this and almost missed it ! However I peeked in room and the lady working the room invited me in and informed me breakfast was b part of the stay . Scrumptious full on breakfast available .

No concerns or complaints . Very old inn but still charming and unique . Centrally located to shops and c cafes .

Loved the hotel quite dated but very comfortable in a lovely village..a 10 minute walk into town which was easy going down hill a bit more challenging going up hill depending on your fitness we found it no bother and a very pleasant walk. Staff were outstanding and a real credit to the owner. Food was good and breakfast too. Would definitely return to this gem.

Bathroom could do with updating and t.l.c. in the cleaning..seal on shower ..skirting boards..chrome ect..

Everything was ideal although the stairs up to the bedrooms certainly aren't made for folks with big feet! Care was taken, though, and all was good 👍

We had our dog with us and asked in the bar for sausages or cold meat for him, while ordering our own food. The barman/waiter said he would check. Almost a week later, we still haven't had an answer....I presume the answer was no. (We did have food with us for the dog - we were just looking for a little treat for him).

Fantastic location within walking distance of Pitlochry whilst removed from the touristy hustle bustle. Also close to the golf course and hiking trails. Great buzz in the pub with superb prices and friendly staff.

Breakfast was included but ran very early and it would have been nice to see it go until half 10 like many hotels. The connection to the brewery could be closer - eg there was a missed opportunity for the hotel staff to arrange a visit for us (group or solo) and gave us incorrect hours over the phone.
