The room was great with a superb front line seaview and the breakfast was excellent.
Given it was Christmas time we were surprised how few staff were around in reception and at the bar...just felt a little dead somehow. There was no-one in the bar area when we tried to get a coffee on arrival...we had to wait for 10 minutes sitting in the reception lounge until the bar staff appeared! Shame as it's a lovely old hotel in a great location.

Stayed here the week before the marathon as the rooms were cheap and I wanted to check it out ad I was returning the following week for the marathon. The room was worth the price (£69) and adequate for a solo traveller (double room). It was basic but good enough and couldn’t complain too much. The location is perfect - both for Brighton and Hove.
There was no aircon in this room so a fan was available instead. There was also a big gap under the door so the light came through all night and also a nightlight on the wall by the bathroom. Great idea but couldn’t be switched off so it was on all night, and was bright! Was a bit noisy but liveable. Parking is terrible and there wasn’t much help figuring out an alternative. Asked for late checkout and was told it would be £10 per hour, which, considering I was checking out on Monday I thought they might offer an hour free - especially as I was returning the following week for an overpriced marathon room. Interestingly, someone asked the same thing on the Monday, post-marathon, and was told not to worry.

The Mercure is set straight across from the beach and about a 15-20 min walk to the laines/pier and train station, so a perfect position. The hotel is bright and modern and we were surprised to find that we had been upgraded to a sea view room on our arrival. The rooms are lovely with everything you need in them. The only thing that lets it down is the restaurant on an evening. Meals took 45 mins to come out even though there was only us and another couple and the pudding took a further 40 mins (this was just a toffee pudding with custard)..we didn’t use the restaurant again but found a fabulous Italian two mins walks just past the holiday inn (you must go, food is delicious). Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone.

Great location and very helpful staff. Was running the half marathon and went over our check out time but staff was very understanding and gave us extra time to get showered and packed. Breakfast was small and had a buffet style for hot food, pastries and fruit get there earlier as it does get busy.
There is not much to say however there was some make up stains on the carpet but over all the room was very well cleaned, NO stains on the pillows or bed sheet and the bath was very well looked after. There is parking at the back of the hotel but is very limited we had to park and the rectory car park which is a under a 5 minute walk from the hotel this did cost us 50 pound for just under 2 days

I took Mum to celebrate her 92nd birthday . The hotel staff were friendly and kind .,they even upgraded us to a nicer room with disabled facilities and lift access to the room . They provided chocolates and a balloon for Mum - was lovely for her . The hotel is sea facing and just across the road - fantastic clean pretty location . I had forgotten my USB plug and a kind friendly maid Casey lent me her’s . The room service was served promptly and was hot and tasty . A lovely experience and would happily return to this hotel !
Sadly whilst we were at breakfast , I mistakenly left a pair of precious earrings on the main table rather than placing them in the safe provided in the room . We returned from breakfast to find the maid cleaning the room . Soon after , the earrings were missing . It’s my own fault really for not placing the earrings in the safe , a lesson learned .

The staff at the welcome desk were very friendly, courteous and professional; the manager in particular was excellent and clearly very good at her job. The bar staff were kind, friendly and very knowledgeable about wine. Everybody has a smile on their face. The location of the hotel is fantastic — as it's in the cleanest, nicest, and quietest area — and the exterior of the hotel is very pleasing to the eye. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Brighton, as every other hotel on the sea front appeared very rundown. I liked the bathroom in the room, and the room itself was spotlessly clean and well presented. The pillows were very comfortable and the mattress was also very comfortable. The room was quiet and cosy. We slept very well here.
There are no plug sockets beside the bed, and in the modern world, everyone charges their tech next to their bed. This is worth considering.

Excellent location opposite the beach, just a walk across the road. Our Deluxe Sea View room was big with a wonderful view of the beach. The bathroom was very modern, the shower was very powerful and our son loved the buttons for the different jets. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. Jacob who checked us in at reception in particular was very welcoming which was really nice on arrival.
The hotel advertised room service on Booking.com and this was also stated on a sticker on the phone by the bed in our room with a QR code. This service is no longer available reception informed us and the stickers should have been removed. A fridge would have been useful to keep our child’s bottles of milk in, this is the first Mercure hotel I’ve stayed at without a fridge.

We really liked the quirky decor of the hotel not only upon entrance but thought. The rooms were a lovely size with a nice view of the mews garden. The bar was fresh, funky and cocktails were very tasy. The breakfast was delicious, just enough selection and everything was super fresh and extras were made fresh to order if requested. The customer service from every member of staff from all positions was second to none, extremely friendly, polite, professional and nothing was too much trouble. This was our first stay here at The Mecure Brighton Seafront Hotel after previously frequently staying at another venue; however, we will now ONLY be booking the Mecure Brighton Seafront when we next regularly come to Brighton.
There was a slight minor hiccup in our room which we telephoned straight down to reception staff and reported, we received and immediately apology and the duty GM was at our door in less than 5 mins. He couldn't have apologised more and offered us a room swap, we declined as a) the room itself was fine and we were too tired to move all our stuff somehow else. He then graciously gifted us a couple of complimentary cocktails at the bar that evening. Although this is in the "What didn't you like section" it's only in here as the slight minor hiccup. The way it was rectified and dealt with in such a precise, speedy and professional manor is the best customer service we've ever seen in a hotel establishment. This should be in its own section for "What was outstanding"!!

Beautiful hotel with a stylish interior. The main staircase is stunning! Lovely staff. We were made to feel welcome. Room was spacious, considering it was a standard double. I do not really understand some of the negative reviews as for the price, it was great, we have stayed in hotels in Eastbourne for the same price or more and the rooms were horrid compared to this.
Our pillows were very hard so, I spoke to a man on reception (Salah?) and he got is some softer ones. The toilet did not flush well at all. But apart from those couple of things, we loved staying at the hotel.

The hotel was beautifully decorated. The staff were very helpful and always had a smile on there face whatever time of day.
We were on the 1st floor but had a flight of steps to walk up to our room which was a bit awkward with heavy luggages. If you bring a car be prepared to never find parking as there were a limited amount of spaces in the hotels private carpark therefore we had to park our car a few blocks away and call for a taxi to the hotel and the same again in the morning to get to the car. Other then that it was a pleasure to stay there!
