From a pre-arrival message to a lovely farewell, Sharon was so lovely and really keen to ensure we had a wonderful stay. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was outstanding (eggs from their own hens!) and high quality local fare. If you’ve never been brave enough to try black pudding, do it here, as this is local and authentic from Bury! And it was cooked to perfection! The bed was soooooo comfortable. The room was spot on. It’s all decorated to a high spec. There is a lovely guest lounge which is very relaxing.

Our stay at Birtles Farm B&B started on Saturday morning when Sharon very kindly sent us a quick text message to introduce herself which we felt was a lovely touch. Sharon welcomed us in and showed us to our room, gave us a really detailed intro about the rooms, the building, the breakfast etc... again a lovely touch. The building is lovely, a real old farm house complete with original wooden staircase, floorboards and door handles (the door handles have to be totally original from bygones ago and I would love to know the history of the building as I bet it can tell a few stories). If you are planning to visit you must remember this is a working farm with stables so every now and again you will hear the odd moo or clip clop of hooves... followed by silence and the odd bird chirping... peace and serenity in abundance. We were in room 3 which has its own bathroom on the landing, for some they may want it in the room but for us it was ideal...the room is spacious, has incredible views, a sink area, wardrobe, drawers and copious amounts of tea and coffee.. overall it was really comfortable. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, some may feel it was too soft however Sharon did advise that if we needed different pillows we could just ask. Another great thing about the room was that the flooring was kinda slanted, just keeps in with the original features of the farm house and i wouldnt have changed this! just all adds to the comfort! I would also say if you're really tall, remember to duck through the doors as again (keep saying this) they are lower than normal however it all keeps with the feel of a quintessential English farm house. Breakfast was superb, lots to choose from and a full English to suit cooked there and then which was lovely... filter coffee too :) Overall you wont be disappointed, great hosts, great location, 10 out of 10 guys keep up the great work

Nothing, thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights stay, the hosts were superb, the food was great, the location was what we needed. The cows greeting you when you leave just adds to the experience

Absolutely loved my stay at Birtles Farm Bed and Breakfast which was very homely and had everything that I needed. The owner, Sharon, was so friendly and welcoming. The B&B itself is in a beautiful old farm house on a farm with cattle and horses. The bedroom, which was beautifully decorated and furnished, and the shower room were very clean and the large bed was very comfortable. There was also a well stocked tea tray in the room, and a fantastic breakfast in the morning with plenty to choose from and cooked to order. I would definitely recommend a stay here

I liked everything

An absolute gem of a find – idyllic, charming, and nestled in stunning grounds. Every detail has been thoughtfully curated to create a peaceful, luxurious experience. The Egyptian cotton bedding and towels add a touch of indulgence, but what truly sets this place apart are the hosts. They strike the perfect balance between warm hospitality and respectful privacy – genuinely lovely people who make you feel completely at home without ever being intrusive. Highly recommended. Can't wait to return. Thankyou Sharon and Dave.

Lovely and peaceful setting yet minutes away from Tatton Park and Manchester Airport. Beautiful room with comfortable bed, nice ensuite shower room and towelling robes supplied. Tea and coffee provided. The breakfast was great and catered for my gluten free diet. Hosts were very hospitable and friendly, we would definitely stay again.

Not much, only that because of the lovely old wooden doors our room had a gap between the door and the frame. We could see out of it so potentially people could see in through the gap.

Fabulous all round! We originally booked a local hotel several months ago to attend a family wedding, but when said hotel was offering the same room for +£100 less (!), we looked around and found Birtles Farm instead - and what a brilliant find! Sharon was so lovely and welcoming, the room was perfect, bed was so comfortable and our breakfasts were delicious - and as a bonus, we were only a half-mile meander across the fields and footpaths to the wedding. Would highly recommend and hope we have an excuse to stay again.

Beautiful location within a working farm

I arrived in the dark. From the main road you could miss the entrance. A lovely light shining on the Birtles Farm sign would be good!

Sharon was a lovely host, gave us some very good info on places to visit & places to eat nearby. Well appointed for Dunham Massey & Tatton, the Thornbridge Estate is also well worth a visit. It's a very old house with lots of original features but bright & very comfortable & homely. There is also a communal sitting room with TV & settees. Lovely breakfast in the morning, really set you up for the day. Stables in the courtyard outside & a lovely garden. It is a working farm but was very quiet. Even though it is quite close to the airport didn't really hear any planes.

Not a criticism but being a very old house there are some places where you need to watch your head but you soon get used to ducking in the right places.

Peaceful location in a very old timber framed building but beautifully presented with lots of charm. The hosts were very friendly and accomodating who really couldn't have done enough for their guests. Nothing was too much trouble.

It's only a minor niggle and that was that the en-suite was quite small. I would have liked a bath as well as a shower but that's really down to me not making it a requirement of my booking. It was set out with everything you might need and again, being an old timber framed building it was very cute/quirky.

Owners were very friendly, helpful, property itself is very nice 16th century working farm. Border collies, horses, nature. A good quality bed, I would say the best I ever slept and I travel alot. The ,duvet and pillows were made of duck feather and down, I checked the brand and was lucky to buy identical for myself on the way home😀The breakfast Sharon made was tasty, like at home, products very good, served nicely. Everything was clean, fresh and I am saying it as food safety professional(not often I am 100% happy about everything😀). Shower was good, TV with many channels if someone interested, tea, coffee etc in the room and in general nice and quiet. The location is good to reach Knutsford, not very far there is Ashley train staition with connections to Manchester,Chester,Knutsford, walkable distance from place to station if needed. I reccomend this place and hope to come back one day. Thank you very much
