Friendly welcome, nice garden for drinks even if situated on a main road. Rooms comfortable, bathroom a little dated but the shower was good. The dinner menu was very good, we had a selection of starters and they were all excellent. It was Sunday evening and full of local people out for dinner, we were glad the hotel had suggested reserving a table.

After the great meal the night before breakfast was a disappointment. The eggs benedict were good but the English breakfast just OK and my pancakes were the most dry and solid pancakes I have ever been served.

Breakfast was fair. Personally I would have liked fruit, yoghurt options. Granddaughter is Coeliac and her breakfast was limited - no GF cereal, fruit, yoghurt but they were keen to please and had GF bread/toast, and she could have had eggs but didn't want them Dinner was good. Good choices for GF, although no chicken dish on GF menu, which is unusual. However, with notice, the chef produced an excellent chicken dish for her on our second evening

Nothing really. Staff were very keen to please and attentive. I am always conscious of my granddaughter feeling "different" with her coeliac disease, as I know at 11 years old, she is very conscious of it. This is our 3rd stay at the Blue Ball Inn, and we mainly choose it because of their separate GF menu, which makes her feel included, rather that adapting a "normal" menu.

The Blue Ball was a warm and welcoming place (on an icy and chilly day). The staff were very friendly and helpful and really couldn’t do enough to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. The room was immaculate and very comfortable with excellent quality bathroom products. We had an evening meal and a sumptuous breakfast both of which were delicious. Finally our four legged family member joined us and had woofingly wonderful time as well…bonus was that it was situated on the main road with a large car park opposite and was only a 10 minute drive to beautiful Sidmouth…well stormy Sidmouth when we were there 😬.

Food (both breakfasts and dinners) were well-cooked and tasty. Service, including greeting on arrival, was generally very good. Room was comfortable.

One member of staff displayed a negative attitude when I asked for a server to take my order. I later learned that orders were normally placed at the bar by customers but I was not told. When I asked for the bill, there was no record of what I had ordered and I had to recite what we had eaten and drunk!

Even though I was the only guest at breakfast, they still went above and beyond and it was absolutely delicious. I had a fresh breakfast made, there were fresh pastries, muffins, juice and lovely coffee. The staff were really friendly even though I was travelling alone I felt very welcome

The only thing that I would say is that I stayed in the room downstairs with the doors to outside, the fire exit light a bit too bright when dark and I did have trouble sleeping

Spacious,well laid out with cosy bar area, comfortable restaurant areas, a well set out functions room (which hosted a funeral get together perfectly). Bed Rooms were comfy and well fitted out. All staff were very friendly and accommodating, very helpful with the funeral arrangements, with good food / bar despite being very busy for Christmas. Breakfast was good.

Very little! The en-suite bathroom we stayed in could probably do with a refresh at some point - but it was clean and fully functioning.

Beautiful Inn, well decorated and very cosy. Bedroom and bathroom was superb but most of all the staff and food was AMAZING, would highly recommend even if not staying overnight to visit for a meal. Sophie dealt with us for most of our stay was superb, as were the waiting staff :-) Our evening meal and breakfast could not be faulted in any way. Thank you

For us personally the bed was a bit soft, but thats just our preference, the room was lovely, spotlessly clean with all extras that were advertised.

On entering the hotel with our luggage an hour before check-in, we were greeted with ‘you aren’t wanting to check in are you because you can’t until 3’. We knew we were early, we thought that on the off chance there may be two rooms that might be ready at 2 because check out is 10.30 and there are only 8 rooms in the hotel. But if we couldn’t check in we were hoping to leave our bags while we go off exploring. The four of us were a bit taken aback by the greeting because the previous manager was very welcoming and would have said ‘Hello’ first. We were allowed to leave our bags in a room and we grabbed a drink in the end and waited but considering he is in the hospitality industry, the manager needs to work on his people skills.

First of all, a real shout to the staff here. I often have little contact with staff, as we just come and go. Here we had a couple of little things that needed sorting, and staff were on it immediately. The room was very clean, and the restaurant was most enjoyable.

So, is it important that you are near the coast? Do you want to roll straight out of bed into the beach? If it is this place provides a problem. If, however, you need access to roads to visit the many beautiful areas here, it is certainly a hotel to consider.
