Breakfast is, as always, the best breakfast we've ever gotten at any hotel. Delicious and what a great variety on offer! Beds and linens were super comfortable! Love the fireplace area. Staff is great. Location is perfect. We have always and will continue to use the English Inn for all our C'ville visits. Thanks!

I wish the breakfast was open until 10 on weekends. However, Bodos is right next door! There was construction going on, but disruption was minimal and we look forward to seeing the upgrades on our next stay. Unfortunately, on our last day there was no hot water for a shower. They were right on it for repairs but not until after our check out.

We had a spacious one-bedroom apartment with a kitchenette. Breakfast had a good assortment of hot and cold foods, but as in most hotels in the US, there was nothing except fruit for a gluten-free vegan. Also, they use plastic utensils and disposable bowls, plates, and cups, which creates a tremendous amount of waste every day. Since we had a kitchen in our room, I was able to bring my own bowl and spoon for the gluten-free granola and oat milk I brought with me so as not to create any waste myself. A kitchen staff member kindly gave me ice for my water bottle. The front desk staff was helpful as well.

The spacious apartment could use a refresh. We had to park a distance from our room when we came back after dinner because the lot was very full.

The breakfast was fresh and had a variety of selections every day. It had the best grits I ever eaten. The two chefs I interacted with were very caring. They like their job and are glad to please us with a great breakfast. The place is spotless! This hotel is situated across from a mall outlet. Great stores, excellent Thai Restaurant a block down.

The only issue was the air-conditioned. It's old, and sometimes it shuts off. That's the only reason for not getting a 10. Also weekends are not cheap. They are 50% more. I don't see the reason for this. The big thisbin this town is the UVA hospital. Downtown was no big deal either.

I travel to Charlottesville regularly to visit my daughter who is a trainee with Charlottesville ballet. In October I discovered the English Inn and now I would not stay anywhere else anymore. The price is great and the Inn has a special flavor (fireplace, tea and cookies, etc.) Breakfast is also a cut above what one normally gets at a hotel and the breakfast staff (especially James, but the lady also), personable without being intrusive. The location is excellent for my needs. It is only a few minutes away from where my daughter and her roommate live.

Love. Love. Love is all o have for this place. We were in town as my mother was flown from Holsten Valley Hospital (Kingsport,TN) to UVA Health. It was a last second booking and they were most accommodating and helpful. The whole staff was wonderful and Mr. Scott Stone was truly the best hotel manager I’ve ever come across in my life. At this time of need I couldn’t be more grateful. It was everything we needed at the time. We even extended our stay. Just truly love this place forever.

I loved this hotel! Nowadays, hotels seem to charge extra for every little thing. You're lucky to have complimentary hand soaps in the bathrooms. But the English Inn goes above and beyond. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast was delicious, every member of staff we interacted with was friendly, the pool was great. I would absolutely stay here again. It was conveniently located to attractions, stores, and food.

The area around the pool is a little slippery.

Great location, easy check-in GREAT STAFF, a beautiful fireplace with a sitting area in the main lobby, and the buffet style breakfast was great. Some of the decor could use some TLC/updating (hallways, carpeting, furniture in rooms) I recommend moving the towels from the shelf under the sink next to the floor and up to the rack, and washing the bedspreads a little more often couldn't hurt (I mean they're white.) OVERALL, GREAT STAY, CLOSE TO UVA, SHOPPING, RESTAURANTS,.SIGHTS AND MORE.

I didn't have any dislikes. We had a great stay. Move towels up to the rack, off the shelf under the sink, really my only suggestion other than esthetics.

We were in Charlottesville as tourists. The English Inn had a comfortable, clean room. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good, with plenty of tasty options for our own tastes. As an English Inn, they even had a "high tea" in the early evening. It is located near the bypass, and it was easy to get to our destinations (downtown Charlottesville, the University of Virginia, Monticello, and James Madison's Montpelier) with our rental car. This worked well for us. The "English" theme was fun, and it had the welcoming feel of a non-chain hotel. There is an indoor pool as well, although we did not try it out, unfortunately.

The new room renovation was clean and not fussy. The pool hours could have been earlier, since I didn't have time to wait till 8am opening. Breakfast was solid as usual! Staff is excellent! One girl at front desk could use some encouragement to be a little more 'positive'... I love the fireplace area in the Lobby but it could use a little refresh the wallpaper looks a little tired ... they do have easy application wallpapers that might even work over the existing if it is busy enough ... maybe add some Old English (like Keswick Country Club Inn = Laura Ashley style) charm w/soft down filled pillows on the sofa and chairs and some wood refreshing could revitalize that area. Maybe get a decorators consultation for a few hours to maintain the 'English Vibe' but enhance it some. I like the coffee tea area moved into the front lobby, but it lacks the charm it had over to the side of the fireplace & I missed my cookie! Over all it was a very good impression!

The building looks charming and has a nice design and interior details. I travelled with the service dog and all went very good, the only thing he was not allowed in the breakfast area, but it is understandable. I still could take some eggs to the room as he loves those hotel breakfast eggs a lot :) Did not have a chance to use the pool but it looked nice. The area around the hotel is well lit and safe (for late night dog walks). Bed was comfy, a/c working, all good!
