The plough inn is a lovely old pub with accomodation. We stayed in one of 3 shepherd's huts. It was very quiet and perfect for us and our pet dog. It is within easy walking distance of the centre of Hathersage. Also easy to get in to nearby Sheffield by car, bus or train. The pub staff were all lovely and helpful, we were lent maps of the area to plan walks. Breakfast was generous and the evening meal was tasty and reasonably priced. We hope to stay there again

There was nothing of any note not to like

The property is very nicely situated, with lovely views. It is very homely inside, with very welcoming staff. We were greeted as soon as we entered and shown to our room, which was very clean, nicely decorated, very comfortable bed, and all the little extras needed for a night away. Tea and coffee making facilities provided, hairdryer, toiletries etc. We had an evening meal, which was absolutely delicious, and would highly recommend a visit. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful, and the owners are extremely friendly. Would definitely return to this property, and highly recommend a stay or meal here.

Nothing - all good

We stayed in room five in the cottage. The bed was extra large, a little bit too soft for me but my husband loved it comfy sofa and armchair with lots of storage space for your clothing. We booked a table for an evening meal lots to choose from I had the mushroom linguine and my husband had the fish pie excellent quality lovely location.

No tea making facilities in the room, When we booked in there was one bottle of water between two I think if it’s a couple, it should have been two bottles one each.

Start with excellent parking then rapid, friendly and well organised registration. A lovely warm room just metres from the rear entrance. Beautifully clean room with a modern en-suite Although we didn’t have an Evening meal at the Plough ( pre-Christmas visit to family) the standard of the breakfast was amazing including a very special nutty “granola” and a perfect Eggs Benedict! Due to the very cold and snowy weather we were allowed to have our Dog sleep in the room rather than the car, for which we gladly paid a small extra charge.

Nothing of note

Welcoming and friendly staff who met our requests, checked on whether we needed help with our plans for the day, how our day had gone etc but managed to tread that fine line between friendliness and over-friendliness. Our requirements for breakfast were simple: cereal, fruit, yogurt, toast, coffee. There was no trying to push us to have a cooked breakfast we didn't want (happens in some places - really appreciated that it didn't here), but what we did have was lovely and freshly prepared. Beautiful location a short distance outside the village, amazingly peaceful.

Very picky: would have preferred mugs to cups in the bedroom.

Location was just outside Hathersage, about 10min walk away. Excellent area for walking out from so you don’t have to drive to a start. The room was very nice, clean, well equipped and had a comfy bed. Breakfast had a good selection of options. We also ate in the pub too and it was excellent. Staff were very nice, accommodating and polite.

Quiet for us as was in April but the room was situated on the edge of a small courtyard which was the pub garden/patio with tables and chairs right under the window so has potential for noise on nice evenings. For some reason the ceiling/roof-space of our room was very noisy/creaky throughout the night.

Enhanced by stunning weather my first stay in a Shepherds Hut at The Plough was a great experience. The location is stunning and despite being in a holiday period, very peaceful. The hut itself is very comfortable and well equipped, the bathroom facilities excellent. Plenty of hot water and fabulous toiletries. Dinner and breakfast at the Plough were the usual high standard. A very cosy space with the wood burning stove creating an idyllic stay.

We stayed in one of the Shepherdess Huts. This is the second time we have stopped in one of these, they have everything you require, double bed, fridge, microwave,bathroom/shower, seating inside an outside. The thing we like the best is the large field they are located on, this is perfect if you are taking a dog with you, our Cocker loves it and it is secure, the Plough inn is very pet friendly. The meals or second to none, especially the breakfast which came free with our booking. We are staying at the Plough againg in November. Andy & Tracy

Paying the bar bill 🤣, no really there was nothing we didn't like about the Plough Inn

Lovely property, lots of character. It was also great that the rooms were in a separate building across the court yard so didn’t have to worry about any noise from the bar and restaurant in the evening. Good sized spacious room. We are in the bar and the burgers were delicious. Good sized portion. Cooked breakfast was also fabulous.

Amazing location in the countryside. Perfect for hiking. Delicious and high quality thought through menu. Clean and nice rooms. Friendly attentive staff. Free parking. We thank the team for their hard work.

Upstairs neighbour's every step was audible all the time. Mix of wood floor (which is okay) and supposedly an Elefant as neighbour (not okay). Can't fault the Inn too much. But it is probably something people should know, I imagine it could really grind some gears.
