Kim who welcomed us was super nice and helpful. We loved that they served a delicious white wine, cheese and crackers in the afternoon. This also gave us an opportunity to mingle with other guests. We absolutely loved the room it had a steam shower and jacuzzi bath. It also had a desk for my husband to work and a super comfortable bed. We looked forward to the breakfast as previous guests mentioned that it was incredible good. I however misunderstand the timing and we showed up to late, but despite this Kim and her colleague went out of their way to still serve us breakfast. The best and so grateful that they made it still happen despite us coming at the wrong time.

Great location, away from the loud and busy center street of Newport. Only short walk <10 mins to Thames street. B&B hosts were so sweet and welcoming. B&B was very cute and comfortable. We stayed in the garden gate room which felt like our own little cottage with a spacious seating area and very big bathroom with jacuzzi tub. Very quiet. Has home made cookies dropped off during turn down service every evening. Had our own entrance to our room as well. Convenient parking right outside the B&B in a private lot with ample parking space for no extra charge. Definitely worth it and looking forward to staying there again!
Nothing. It was great!

The breakfast was outstanding and a real surprise; the guests ate together in the dining room which made for interesting and helpful conversations. Wine and cheese was also offered in the evening. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for exploring the wonderful sites of Newport. The bathroom was a very generous size.
Our room was quite small (although the bathroom was generous). There was a slight drains smell in the hallway outside our room.

Excellent breakfast and quiet despite being on main drag.
We are new to B & B concept so eating at a common dining room/table a little uncomfortable for us. Yet, our second night we were given option to eat our next breakfast at a private table in the sitting room. We are always a bit nervous about a venue without 24 staff. Nevertheless we really have no complaints!

Staff is very welcoming and accommodating. Easy to engage and responsive to requests. Location is excellent and within easy walking distance to the wharf, restaurants, downtown Newport, and major museums. Bellvue Avenue address is within 5 minute drive of mansions and located thereon and the cliff walk. Reserved parking on backside of inn is very convenient. Breakfast is excellent - full English cuisine is fresh, healthy, and creative. Compliments to Amy for her initiative and culinary skills. Afternoon (4-6:00pm) wine and horduerves are a nice touch and a welcome respite from the day's activities. 24 hour coffee and tea self service is most convenient, particularly for early risers. The early evening freshly baked chocolate chip cookies are an indulgence.
Notwithstanding the charm of the decor, some of the furniture definitely needs to be refreshed or replaced. In particular, the front room is dominated by a sofa that is effectively useless as it seats low and uncomfortable given its collapsed cushions. A bad first impression upon entry to the inn and a shared comment amongst guests. The windows throughout needed a cleaning as they are covered with a layer of dust spotted by water drops. Otherwise, everything is clean and tidy.

Breakfast was amazing. Amy was very nice and ensured I had a delicious gluten free meal each day including strawberry pancakes the first morning and the best hot egg & cheese toasted sandwich to go for the second morning. Laura at the front desk was helpful, friendly and welcoming. My room was on the first floor with access to the back of the building which made it easier for unloading the car. Nice large and clean room and bathroom. Wine and cheese in the evening was wonderful. The location was perfect, walking distance to stores and restaurants as well as the bus stop which will take you to the mansions/cliff walk.

Location: Great! Staff: Marvellous! Breakfast: Delicious! Room & bath: Wonderful!
The climate in Newport is (was) very humid. I had difficulties getting my sailing gear and clothes dried in our room during our stay.

This is a spectacular Inn and the ideal location of Newport (Bellevue ... just blocks to the water-front and a quick drive to the mansions). The 4-6 PM wine and charcuterie was a welcome surprise just after check-in.... the room was large with a private deck, sitting area, steam shower, and whirpool bath ... and the accommodations were all 5-star. The breakfast was also incredible and plentiful. Thank you, Hydrangea!!
I don't believe they could improve on anything. Stellar inn -- and I am an Innkeeper myself who knows what it takes to spoil your guests!

This was our 4th time staying at the Hydrangea House. The breakfasts are always delicious and everyday is something different. The location is perfect to all of Newport.. The staff is great..
There is nothing that I didn't like.. Parking is right outside your door and if you're not driving you can walk everywhere..

Amy our Chef was outstanding. The food was nothing less than excellent, and what a great personality she really is. The location was ok, even though it was all back up hill from most of the sights!!
The size of our room. My home closet is bigger. My Wife and I had no where to sit except the bed, and all for the extremely high price of $700.00 for two nights!! The only redeeming feature, was the gourmet breakfast each morning.
