From the moment I arrived, the staff was welcoming and helpful, the atmosphere was warm and friendly, making it easy to meet other backpackers. The rooms were really clean and comfortable and the common areas, especially the courtyard and blue room were perfect for relaxing. East Side also hosted daily social events like international food night and game night which made my stay really enjoyable. Another good thing was the location- very close to the CBD and surrounded by many restaurants, making it easy to visit everything I wanted to see during my stay in Sydney.

This is a very good hostel. Very good value for money with its weekly fee. The tv room is very large. There is a small patio outside. A big and comfy living room as well. The kitchen is large and newly renovated. There are activities everyday. Plenty of rooms with shower and toilet together, so you have space to wash yourself. It is never too busy/overcrowded with backpackers and the staff knows how to keep the guests quiet after a certain time. They work well and are helpful. The hostel is spacious and always clean. As with all mad monkey hostels in the neighbourhood, you can have access to the gym for free for 2h at a time. I liked that AC isn't used, but fans. That is a relief for the throat, unlike in many other hostels.

Many rooms face the street that is very busy. It is quite noisy at night, although it's alright. Many hostels are far worse.

The location was very convenient. First time staying in a hostel and it wasn’t for me however, I was able to get a full refund on the remaining nights after we checked out. Staff were very understanding, genuinely didn’t think it would be that easy. Brilliant service.

There wasn’t enough bathrooms

I really enjoyed my stay in mad monkey east side. The rooms where really clean and comfortable also I made a lot of new friends cause the hostel is really social trough the events every night. Free food 2 times a week was really nice and the kitchen is really clean u have everything u need there <3 Staff was sooo kind, I can’t complain about anything would choose mad monkey everytime again.

My stay was perfect I can’t complain about anything

Location was a very short 1-2 minute walk from a major underground train station, as well as multiple grocery stores. The people staying there were all very lovely and the vibe was excellent. Communal spaces were friendly and shared appropriately. Lockers were of decent size for luggage.

The bedrooms were extremely hot at night which is fine as long as you sleep without a blanket

I liked this hostel a lot and would stay again! The daily events are a nice touch and help with the social aspect of the hostel. Staff were also super friendly and could always be seen cleaning. Great location as well and close to the train station making it super easy to get to the rest of Sydney. Overall I highly recommend.

Location is great, easy to get there. Staff is nice, helpful and available. Gym pass are a great plus. Rooms are well organized and big lockers are available to fit your whole backpack.

Cleaning was on surface in the rooms and it was quiet hot during the night.

I loved my stay in mad monkey east side, really clean hostel with a lot of great events what makes it really easy to meet and get to know other backpackers. Staff was really nice and the manager is the cutest. Thank u so much for the great time I had here will def see u again.

I spent two very pleasant weeks in the hostel. The staff are young and very welcoming, always looking after their guests. The hostel has several common areas that make it easy to meet people and have a good time. Thank you for everything !
