The hotel is in a lovely remote location and is very quaint. The staff were lovely and friendly and our dinner of fish and chips and the venison burger were excellent.
Not really a complaint but more of an observation. The room was very cold so it would have been nice to have it a little warmer. The breakfast wasn’t fabulous as there were a couple items missing as promised on the menu (haggis, lorne sausage) and some items were very small (I got the end of a black pudding) and the bacon serving was small too but overall we enjoyed our stay and the host was very welcoming.

For a region which can sometimes have sparse amenities, this hotel had everything you needed. It has a pub in it and has a local shop and cafe right across the street. We found it a lovely place to stay and overheard other travelers lamenting that they had not booked a longer stay. Also had a good breakfast.
The window in our room didn’t seem to close fully so it was a bit cold in the evening. We used a space heater that was available which helped. We didn’t find it enough of a problem to ask to switch rooms or have help with it so can’t speak to their responsiveness in fixing.

First, let me say, this is a very small town in a remote part of Scotland. So if that’s what you are looking for, look no further. The place is closed until 4p, so when they say you can’t check in till then, they mean it. There is literally no one to check you in. But once 4p rolls around, the place comes alive. The small pub is lively, so you can interact with locals or relax comfortably in the cozy living room like adjacent space. The restaurant is a dining room within the first floor. The seafood chowder was delicious and the portions were plentiful. The staff were down to earth, friendly and determined to provide good service. My partner was sick during our visit and the staff were very helpful, which I appreciated. They made him a terrific burger which he thoroughly enjoyed even through the lens of his illness.
The room we had was tight, dated and the bathroom had poor lighting. But the landscape around Loch Schiel is so beautiful, the room isn’t really meant to be much more than a place to stay.

The best description I can give of Loch Shiel Hotel is exceptional in all areas - particularly customer service. I came to hotel very tired, and hungry having cycled for several weeks in Ardnamurchan and most recently staying in campsites with limited facilities. I decided that staying at Loch Shiel Hotel could be the experience I needed prior to completing my journey to Lochloriat. I was not wrong! On entering the hotel to book in I was met with an exceptionally nice member of staff who I believe is a manager. He made sure i had a space to secure my bicycle and agreed to wash my clothes that had nearly become dirty due to having cycled remotely for a prolonged period. The room.i had booked was of a high standard as was the appliances. It was very clean and extremely comfortable. I ordered food in the restaurant and again tge customer service was excellent. The food I ordered was of a high standard, reasonably priced and the restaurant was very pleasant in decor. I had a lovely night and the breakfast was generous and of high standard. During this period I had developed an allergic reaction to midge and tick bites whilst camping. The morning staff were exceptionally helpful and ran to get me antihistamines from the local shop. This was invaluable care and assistance. I cannot express to you how much I appreciated my stay at Loch Shiel Hotel and the exceptional customer service and standards I experienced.
I liked everything. It was excellent.

The Bed and Breakfast was in a beautiful area, and the place itself was also beautiful. This place is out away from any big towns and the setting is one of relaxation and calm. Our room was spacious, and the bathroom too was large. Both were exceptionally clean. The B&B boast a small bar with a friendly local crowd. It has a billiards table and a great selection of whiskys and gins. Breakfast was made to order, and the chef was jolly for it being so early in the morning (I'll explain in the dislike section). The breakfast was good and there were cereals and juices to choose from included in our order. This is an area I feel needs more exploration. I believe it's a hidden gem.
We had both dinner and breakfast at this facility. The dinner was ok. My husband ordered a burger that lacked flavor. I ordered the fish and chips. The piece of fish that I received was huge and a bit unmanageable. Again, it lacked flavor. Malt vinegar was provided in packets. We spoke with the owner in regards to breakfast the next morning because we had to leave early to catch the ferry. She assured us that it wouldn't be a problem and that they would notify the chef. When we walked into the dining room the next morning, the chef was unaware that we would be eating early. He took it all in stride and although we had to wait a little longer to get breakfast, he made it happen.

It’s important more so as a solo traveler that you feel at home, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, my room was lovely and very comfortable, the bar a great place to have a drink and meet people and the restaurant served meals for all tastes that are delicious and well proportioned. All the above was supported by great staff who bar none make you feel welcome. It all sounds a little gushing but that’s how I felt, I would love to visit the region again someday and make Loch Sheil hotel my temporary home of choice. .
There wasn’t anything I didn’t like but I might consider creating a new playlist for the excellent chef

Old building in a beautiful landscape. Quite far from everything, but that’s what you are looking for if you come here. However, there’s a shop and also a souvenir shop just front road. The people working here are super kind and friendly, we really enjoyed this short holiday and if we come back I think we would book here again. I recommend the deluxe room, because it has view on the lake and the countryside, while the others have a view on the street. The food here is excellent.
The door of the bathroom couldn’t be shut (because the room and the frame are not straight) and they couldn’t fix it. The shower has low pressure.

Loch Shiel Hotel is a small, cosy and stylish hotel where all of the staff makes you feel very welcome and comfortable. The hotel is really pet friendly and the location is beautiful at the lake. The drive to the hotel gave many stunning views over this fantastic peninsula. We had a very good dinner, made of local products. We had to leave early, and turning up half an hour earlier was not a problem at all for the chef. After a very tasty breakfast with local smoked salmon we were sorry to have to leave. The very friendly and competent staff made our stay very pleasant, all for a very competitive price.
We should have stayed longer... The hotel has wooden floors, so some noises are unavoidable.

Nice outside space to enjoy the sun although the benches were needing repairs, obviously a favourite with the locals and great to see kids out enjoying themselves. Room was on the top floor and was clean. Breakfast was great, loved the porridge!
Only downside was the seating outside which was partly broken but in a lovely open grassed area.

The standard room was clean and comfy it didnt bother me but you can hear a bit of noise from the bar below....but rhats a balance in my view for a l bar with great local characters.
