FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING Staff were so nice The interior of the actual Hotel was so Cozy/Comfortable RESTAURANT INTERIOR OUTSTANDING We were Lucky with weather so sitting in the Garden was enjoyed Again SO ENJOYABLE

THIS COMMENT Is not a comment to say things were bad AS FAR FROM IT We just felt that for a standard Room the price may of been bit high for what it was And do Hope That a couple of issues with decor are kept on top of before the raiting of room goes down

This hotel deserves more than three stars. The staff are all lovely, the service is great, the beds are comfortable and rooms are clean with all you need included. The hotel has comfortable lounges, a bar and a spacious dining room. The food is delicious with plenty of choice and hygiene rating is 5 out of 5. The location is amazing and in easy reach of the rest of this beautiful, unspoilt part of the country.

The only difficulty we had was lugging our case up 2 floors and down again on departure day. This will not be a problem for the younger visitor. We knew before that there were no lifts and are not disabled. Next time we will take a case each not share a large, heavy one.

Everything was perfect. I like Goathland and Mallyan Spout Hotel. Our rooms were decorated in style and comfortable. View from both rooms windows: one on church, the other to garden, quiet and peaceful place. Evening meal from restaurant - very tasty. Good breakfast of our choice with freshly squeezed juices to choose from. Atmosphere, rooms decor, lounge with fireplaces. We left rested and fulfilled with positive vibes. Thank you to the staff. Additional compliment to chef. Check out till 11 am, so no rush.

To hold suitcase on stairs to 2 floor, as no lift, but understandable as building was build long time ago and has character

The breakfast was good. Location lovely.

The minus weather conditions meant our bedroom was cold and this was mainly due to the fact that the heating didn’t come on until 5.0 in the afternoon. It went off at nine and came on at 6.o in the morning again. The radiator was not hot when it did come on and did not heat the room adequately. It was uncomfortably cold in the evening and far from pleasant. We arrived at 2.00 on our first day and was taken to a very cold bedroom with no heating on at all . We went to reception thinking our radiator wasn’t working only to be told it would be on soon! It came on at 5.0. Not good enough! Not sure we will return.

Some of the meals in the evening were not upto standard .Mushy peas cold. Burger was over cooked and dried out. The veg accompanying the lamb shepherds pie were in a tiny pot and insufficient. Had to send cold soup back. Kipper in the morning was raw The girl serving on in the cafe on the Monday was totally lacking in social skills,she never smiled or said please or Thankyou!! All other staff were excellent

The hotel was in a superb location for beautiful walks. The food was excellent. We are both in the restaurant and bar area and both of our meals were lovely. There was a nice selection at breakfast and the smoked salmon and scrabbled egg was perfect. We loved the homemade shortbread that was provided in the room it was a cute little touch.The staff were friendly and the facilities were spotless we will definitely stay here again.

The bathrooms could do with an upgrade, and it would be nice to have a small fridge in the room. It would be nice to have more local beers such as Wainwright available on draft at the bar.

Food was lovely and plenty to choose from

This was my second visit I was so happy with my first visit and we got such a lovely welcome that I went back a second time taking my daughter with me unfortunately the bed wasnt all that comfortable not like the one previously but we did go for the basic room and i was disappointed with the Receptionist that was on duty as I asked if there was someone I could talk to about a venue and obviously no one was around till Monday which was fine but we had to leave early Monday morning but the receptionist didn't take any details from me it was like she couldn't be bothered....

Location was fantastic for easy access to various hiking trails. The hotel had a cosy feel and fantastic historic features. The grounds are beautiful and was lovely to hear wildlife in the morning. The staff are attentive and friendly. Food was great with various options available for breakfast/lunch and dinner. The general areas were clean and tidy and the rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable.

The hotel decor may not be to everyone’s taste but was in-keeping with the features of such a historic building.

Our room was very nice, comfortable bed and spacious with nice views. The receptionist was very welcoming and the person who brought our breakfast to the room was great. Lovely views.

The way one of the bar staff was speaking to a customer in the bar, we thought she was rude and another member of staff had to sort out the complaint. The same person ignored us a few times at the bar and was too busy talking to people they knew. Not a good impression for the hotel which was lovely.

The hotel is in what looks from the front like a lovely building; at the back is a brick monstrosity which fortunately you don't see much of (but what possessed the owners?). It's in a very beautiful place. Staff were kind and conscientious. There are numerous small and well-furnished places in the ground floor where you can sit. There is an agreeable bar. The food was good, although not stellar.

You get what you pay for. It was good, and if I needed to go back to the area, I'd happily stay there again. Although I might see if there was somewhere else first.
