Excellent location opposite St James Park! Room was compact and cosy but fine for one person.
Breakfast was a bit disorganised - running out of items like mugs for tea and some of the food. What was on offer was fine.

The hotel looks and feels expensive/posh on the ground floor
Room was a bit rough around the edges, cracked mirror, broken wipe dispenser, just the overall finish… Half smoked cig and litter on the balcony… And the building site directly outside, gorgeous view

Staff excellent and friendly. Great location. Pillows weren’t the greatest but bed comfortable enough. Great facilities in room plenty kitchen space and microwave hob etc if u fancied cooking yourself. Sofa bed was easy to use. Great walk in drench shower and lovely smelling toiletries. Excellent location for football fans however we were situated at the back of the hotel so no actual football noise when a game was on. Eldon square a 5 min walk however used a lot of Ubers as uphill walk from station and we went to metro centre a lot only £10 so reasonable priced for going there. Free tea/ coffee hot chocolate in reception was a nice touch . Only downside is a touch on the expensive side compared with other 4 stars in Newcastle would still return though.

The hotel staff were great and the rooms were very comfortable. The hotel is pretty much next to St James football Stadium fantastic for football fans, come out the from doors and go right, walk 100m and you are in Chinatown, and a little further into the main city centre and the fantastic Grainger Market and the shopping centre Eldon Square.
There was a bar called the stack opposite which played music on the Saturday till midnight and 10pm on Sunday, next time I'll book a room on the back of the hotel where hopefully it would be quieter, the hotel is on the main route for the hospital too so expect a lot of sirens.

Felt I was totally done over with price, booked early through booking.com to find a day before and the day of, the room had gone down on booking.com by £23. I could have actually had a much better room a studio with breakfast for £130 we paid £133 for standard no breakfast. Got to hotel and paid an additional £27 to add breakfast. Tried to swap the booking with booking.com customer services to get nothing but the run around shocking!! We were asked at the hote if we would like breakfast, got this far so though may aswell, we Asked how much breakfast was and we were told £13.50 thought ok let's have that however this was £13.50 per person so wound up paying £27. Room now totalling £160 for a standard room again booking.com listing studio with breakfast £130 still online. Customer Services seem to be willing to absolutely nothing!

We had a junior suite and it was like a mini flat! It had a small kitchenette with everything you would need - microwave, fridge, 2 hob stove, kettle, toaster etc. The wardrobe contained 2 dressing gowns, iron and ironing board, and a safe. The "lounge" area was small but fit for purpose, and the bedroom and bathroom were a great size. Overall, it was very clean. My only complaint would be that there was not any shampoo provided in the bathroom (just soap and shower gel) and that the glass frosted doors look good but maybe aren't that practical for blocking out anything! We were located at the side of the building, and there was a consistent humming from the generators, but it wasn't overbearing. The location is fantastic, right opposite St James Park and a short 10 minute walk to the shopping centre. Staff were lovely and very helpful. The car park was a few minutes walk and cost £17 for 24 hours (don't forget to get the ticket validated at reception). Overall a great, comfortable stay and would definitely return.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Room was spacious, clean and comfy. The free coffee in the lobby was lovely especially when the room tea/ coffee facilities were basic.l and poor choice of products.
In the room the tea and coffee station is poor. The kettle didn’t have a switch when it stopped boiling so constantly boiled when the main plug was on so you ended up with a steam burn. The coffee and tea were poor and cheap. However the free coffee downstairs in the lobby was lovely and good quality. Another let down was the pricing. We paid for our room 3 weeks in advance. Two nights prior to our stay we was talking about adding on breakfast (£15-18per person bit steep) so we were looking on the website to see that the exact same room was more than 50% cheaper with breakfast included just to fill up “the rooms”. This is disappointing as it was for the exact same room and breakfast should be at least the same price.

Lovely reception area and friendly greeting. Room was lovely, good size, comfy bed and good facilities. Warm and clean.
Noise, noise, noise! Being stadium side we were expecting some level of noise as we were there for a home game at St.James’ Park, however we were not expecting the constant thumping music and commentary from the Stack venue across the road. This venue is open from 10am to 12 midnight 7 days a week and so it was constant. We could hear every announcement made, the music and singing was another level. When we complained the staff were sympathetic and we realise it was out of their control but it ruins what is otherwise a great hotel.

Location 10/10 - across the street from St James' Park and the Stack. Wonderful to step outside and have that as your view. The hotel itself is excellent, the service was sublime and we look forward to returning to this particular Sandman Signature Hotel. A special thanks must go to the friendly and polite Ukrainian girl on reception; she helped us and made us feel welcome. A very nice first impression is always key for hotels and she provided that for us. We found breakfast fairly pricey so we ventured out each day and found excellent breakfast spots within a two-minute walk. All in all a wonderful stay, see you all again soon.

Reception staff courteous and helpful.
Went for breakfast at 10.06am told breakfast was finished at 10am due to it being match day. Had been told at check in that it was until 10.30am. Sign outside stated breakfast was until 10.30am. Asked if could have just coffee, cereal, pastry as could still see them and was told no. Told by restaurant manager 'sorry not our fault, miscommunication from reception, you can get a refund'. Went to hotel manager to complain, she went into kitchen and kindly packed us some fruit granola and pastries and assured us of a refund. Still had to go and get my son hot food as had a long day ahead. It looked like restaurant were more concerned with getting match crowd in for pints than catering for hotel guests. Really bad form.
