We were travelling to France, flying from Stansted airport so the location of the stay was perfect, Stansted airport being 5 minutes from the hotel. Some people may feel that the hotel is a little noisy as it is directly below the flight path into Stansted and flights are fairly regular up to 10:30p.m. but if you are using the hotel as a start and end point for your journey from Stansted Airport then this should be forgiven. As the hotel is undertaking major refurbishment there was no restaurant availability during our stay but the reception did make some recommendations. The country pub we chose was excellent value for money with a wide choice of menu to accommodate all needs. We wee informed ahead of booking that food will not be available until later in 2024.

No comment as the hotel provided exactly what we required.

The location to the airport and ease of parking. The staff in the restaurant were friendly and accommodating.

The room was dirty, mould build up on base of the bed in room 16. The vanity hadn’t been cleaned, lots of toothpaste stains etc and the shower had remnants of toilet paper in it. The single bed in the room didn’t have a bedside table or lamp so if you need to get up in r he night you have to guess where the step is before getting to a light switch. There is only one bedside table at the double bed. Felt like a room that’s not been cared for. We stayed in the stable block before and rated 10/10 as it was perfect. It’s a shame to be so disappointed on the way back from our holiday.

The staff are really friendly and attentive..They couldn't be more helpful. We didn't have breakfast this time but the last time it was very good. Beds are very comfy and the location is great for the airport. We would highly recommend for a short stay and proximity to the airport. Good value for money. Taxis are a wee bit pricey as they're roughly £20 each way to the airport. The hotel did book us a taxi for one of the trips but it was £6 more so better using Street Car Taxi firm.

Booked at the last minute due to road closures and an early morning departure at Stansted Airport. We booked the family room as it was the same price as the cosy double, so loads of room for two of us. Lovely grounds, easy parking for the night, spacious room, close to Stansted Airport, very nice lounge, and enjoyed our meal in the restaurant. Being on the flight path didn't bother us at all. Ear plugs were provided in the room if it did. We'll definitely go again if we fly out of Stansted.

No plug in the sink, and the lights in the shower didn't work. But they didn't detract from what was a lovely hotel

Had a great stay before our holiday. The hotel was superb, with friendly staff, lovely grounds and good food. There is a lovely patio outside the restaurant looking out over the pond which was teeming with fish. There is also a quiet area to escape to if needed which was beautifully furnished. Prices were reasonable and we were made to feel very welcome. It is also quite close to Bishop's Stortford so we had the added bonus of a morning there before our flight.

The bathroom didn't have a frosted window and the blind used was rattan, so it was quite see through. Our room was also right on the stairs so there was quite a lot of foot traffic immediately outside our door.

A very high level of quality for the Hotel, its location and the room itself. Our bedroom in the main building was large, comfy and quiet and looks as though it had recently been refurbished. We had a meal in the restaurant, which was very tasty, well presented and of good value. The newly refurbished restaurant was a great place to eat with views across the gardens. It's proximity to Stansted Airport (8 minutes away) was the reason for booking, as we had an early flight, but I'm glad we did.

Getting a parking fine when I got back from holiday. Having said that, I phoned through and this was cancelled by the Hotel immediately, so not too bad.

Beautiful old building with amazing grounds has been given a modern makeover but still retains it's character. Friendly and welcoming staff with a relaxed atmosphere in the bar and restaurant area. The shower in my room was amongst the top 10 I've had a hotel.

I was only staying overnight so this issue didn't really affect me but my room was in the lodge across the and the TV in my room kept losing signal on some channels. I never reported it to staff as I was out for most of the evening and leaving early. Again, not a complaint but noteworthy.

This was an absolutely fabulous place to stay! It really exceeded my expectations. When booking it was much cheaper than the other airport hotels at stansted but it was so much more beautiful. The staff were so friendly, both receptionists went out of their way to help and were so proud of the property and knowledgeable of its history. Its so close to airport but feels like you are in the middle of the English countryside. Beautiful building, decor, gardens, lake walk and food was great! I highly recommend if you are flying in or out of Stansted and need a place to stay thats more peaceful and immersed in nature then the airport chaos, also ideal if youve a long layover or overnight layover.

Great value, clean and comfortable, slept well.

Room was very small and awkward. Can't deny the aircraft noise but I didn't find it a problem. However, not much insulation between rooms so lots of TV and door noise from surrounding rooms as well as creaking stairs - that disturbed me more than the aircraft noise. The experience of your staff was mixed. One very pleasant, another didn't smile, impolite, almost rude - the excuse was being really busy, having to run various aspects of the hotel - a guest doesn't need to know this!

I was blown away by this hotel for the price I paid . It was a gorgeous place with a fantastic huge room with lovely views and walk in showing, The staff were very welcoming especially the check in person - The grounds and settings were lovely and It was really close to the airport so I was up and at the airport within 10 mins drive. The food looked lovely but I didn't eat at the restaurant or bar but again it was a lovely area with a lake and woodland walk outside. Free onsite parking and a nice venue to walk around - I would imagine it being a lovely wedding venue. Thank you to all the people who made me welcome and I look forward to staying there again when I travel from Stansted
