Location excellent. Staff were very approachable and friendly. Good atmosphere in the lobby / bar area.

Bar closing at 23:30 is noot good for people who check in after a late flight to your city. This is really an unacceptable level of service. The safe in our room was locked when we arrived. this was rectified by a very helpful lady manager. Somebody had been in our room before we arrived. They had used the bathroom and a towel, leaving the towel on the sink area. They had also left a handwritten post-it on the desk. This wasn't a huge issue for us but it reflected a certain carelessness (to say the least) in your housekeeping function.

The location of the hotel alone makes it a superb choice. Located on the most luxurious shopping street in the city, 300 metres from the Binnenalster lake and Jungfernstieg U and S-Bahn stations, and on the Grosse Bleichen, the border between the Altstadt and the Neustadt, it feels very central. The Rathaus is close by. Our standard room was comfortable, quiet, spacious (for its class), equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, and had a nice, if compact, bathroom. The breakfast buffet was very extensive. If returning to the city I would certainly stay here again.

Although the staff were perfectly friendly and helpful, the management system seemed somewhat bureaucratic, e.g. daily signing in for breakfast, and it was not explained in advance that the hotel would provisionally post an additional charge per night of 50 Euros to cover breakages or damage, which was not in the final charge, of course.

Location was great, right in the centre near the main shopping street. Breakfast for a 5-star hotel leaves room for more variety. The lady at the breakfast room was not quite suited for international tourists, not speaking German. Very comfy beds, pillows filled with feathers- not so much

Our room had a door for interconnection with another room. The guests in the other room, although not very noise, felt like they were located right in our room. That was unpleasant, especially when you had to listen to phone conversations in Greek till 2AM

Very friendly staff - reception, attentive restaurant/bar staff, good room service. Special thanks to Miguel on reception who sorted a problem with my mobile. Spacious room and good walk-in shower - which I had asked for. Breakfast excellent with lots of choice - fresh fruit, yogurts, seeds/oats, salads plus all the usual cooked food. Lunch and snacks reasonably priced. Very quiet in the room and good temperature. Windows that opened.

We liked the location and overall vibe. The breakfast was good and varied. Beds were comfortable.

Although a nice offering for breakfast, it was incredibly expensive. We had two rooms, one for my 90 year old Mother-in-law and at €30 for her have a cup of coffee and a brotchen (of course others would eat more) is just too much. We were offered a continental choice for a bit cheaper €25 I think?) but we didn't want to tell her she couldn't choose something else if she wanted it while our breakfast was strangely incl in our rate. Also, our room looked out on the trash bins.

Reception personal was very professional and very quick at check-in and check-out process. Room had access to shared balcony that had a great view to the city. Location of the hotel is perfect and everything is reachable on foot and very convenient.

Room was extremely small with little storage for clothes and not convenient closet. Also bathroom was dirty and needs some maintenance.

Location was very good for us as it was only a short walk to the opera house. There was also a good range of restaurants and cafes in the area. Breakfast was substantial if somewhat expensive (though we did not eat much else the rest of the day!)

The music in the bar was too loud, especially after coming in after a show. One night it put us off going to the bar at all and on the second encouraged us to leave!

Superb location in the centrum of Hamburg, friendly and helpful staff throughout, average sized room but newly renovated

Unfortunately during our stay we had a leakage in the ceiling of our room but the hotel immediately offered us a new room the same night in happened , when looking at the ceiling, there were already yellow wet spots which would suggest the room had already leak problems before our arrival and I believe the hotel management should have not made available the room for us and should have repaired it instead. Also there was food rests in the fridge from the previous guest which the cleaning staff did not notice and remove

Firstly, the staff was kind and attentive, that's for me is a big plus. Facilities were to my liking, The location is in a silent area, very close to a metro station (few mins of walking distance) - nice area of coffee shops and nice vibes next to Alster lake are also very nearby. Breakfast was good to me, over packed at times but you could always eat at the adjacent bar seats,, so no big deal

The one thing I didn't like was hotel renovation works, not the works per se, but the fact that I got a room where I could literally see a construction worker on my room's window - I went to the front desk and received a different room in a building side that was renovation-free. My original room should not have been used for guests booking during the renovation period - but again, the staff assisted immediately.

Renaissance Hotel is located in the most central location in Hamburg, 5 minutes walk to the Rathaus and the lake, 20 minutes walk to the port, and around many shops. However, there is some noise, especially early in the morning, requiring sleeping with a closed window. The staff are very friendly and helpful in everything needed. The cleaning staff arranges and cleans the rooms daily, puts away the hygiene products, and does an excellent job. You get a bottle of water every day. The breakfast is very good, rich, and varied, but repeats itself precisely every morning. The room is large and spacious. However, in my opinion, the coffee point should be removed from the closet and thus free up more space in the closet and make the coffee point more accessible. Additionally, the hotel should set a higher water pressure in the bath. After 6 nights stay, the overall impression is that Renaissance is a very good hotel. It is better to define it as a 4-star hotel and not a 5-star one because it does not have the luxury of a 5-star hotel.
