Room is of an excellent standard. It all looks very new. It is spotlessly clean. The staff is very helpful.

Comparing with the many hotels we have stayed in we felt that over £350 for the room was excessive. Our booking stated mountain view but as the photos will confirm all we could see was a stone wall and a lot of brambles. The restaurant food was all right but nothing special. They charge £4.95 for a bottle of mineral water and £6.95 for a small dish of mash potatoe. They also apply a 12.5% surcharge to the bill. Breakfast which was included was very average.

The hotel is in a great location at Balmacara, a short distance from Kyle of Lochalsh and Skye. We had a warm welcome at check in with information about our room and facilities in the hotel. The hotel has been totally refurbished and is bright and modern. Plenty of parking is available. Our room looked out towards the sea and was warm and inviting with walk in shower and modern fittings. The bed was very comfortable with nice linen. We had a lovely meal our first night in the restaurant. The breakfast was cooked freshly and was delicious along with a selection of cereals tea and coffee. In all a great stay and will certainly will stay again in the future.

Nothing not to like.

Our room was very nice and big. It was like the rooms in America with two double beds and four sets of towels but there were only two of us. We only used one of the beds which was very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. It is a family-run hotel and everyone is very friendly. It has been recently refurbished and all the facilities are tastefully decorated with very nice artwork. It is very close to the Skye bridge which is why we selected the hotel originally. The food was very good. Breakfast was also included in the price and it was excellent. There is a continental buffet and they serve the warm food directly to your table. A very good system as the warm dishes were very good and freshly cooked. There is a good Spar supermarket next door which seemed to sell everything. There is a small campsite behind the hotel with just a few campervans dotted amongst the trees over which our room looked. It was actually a pleasant view and by no means an eyesore. So overall a really good stay. Thank you to all the lovely staff and management who made us feel very welcome.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff especially Manav and Gopal (Pal) were incredibly welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived. Manav treated us with excellent customer service. The room was clean, spacious and well- equipped with everything we needed.The quiet atmosphere- it made it easy to relax. The location is just perfect very beautiful with a lake view. One of my favourite part was the breakfast buffet- great variety and quality. It was a pleasant and comfortable experience.

Absolutely loved our stay at the Balmacara Hotel! The rooms were spotless, beautifully maintained, and offered stunning views that made waking up each morning a real treat. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming—friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. What truly stood out was the food—absolutely exceptional! Every meal was a delight, full of flavor and clearly made with care. Highly recommend this gem for anyone looking for comfort, great service, and a memorable experience.

Spacious and comfortable room with amazing view. What impressed me most with the hotel though was the interior decorating. The entire hotel is decorated in colours that harmonise perfectly with the colours outside. All artwork seems to have been commissioned by local artists, depicting scenes from the immediate surroundings and again harmonising perfectly with the colours of walls and furniture. I'm not really interested in art, but I actually made a point of looking closely at every single piece in the hotel. Very tasteful indeed! Dinner was lovely, breakfast excellent.

The room was very tastefully decorated with a comfortable bed and was not too warm as you were able to open the window as I dislike stuffy rooms! The bathroom was small but again tastefully decorated with an excellent shower.

The wi-fi was rubbish which meant the tv did not work. Breakfast was good but there was a bit of congestion where the cups, plates and continental breakfast was laid out, it would also be better if you got a pot of tea rather than having to make it yourself from the kettle that was there.

We were greeted in such a welcoming manner. The manager and staff were friendly and helpful. The building is elegant, lovely and clean. Our upgraded room with a sea view was spacious, modern, clean and the bed was very comfortable. Dinner was amazing! The best we’ve had while touring around the highlands. Breakfast was delicious. The whole experience was wonderful. Can’t say enough good stuff.

Balmacara Hotel was our last stop on our NC500 route. It was definitely a touch of luxury for as as all previous nights we were staying in pods, glamping - which was also amazing. When looking at the front of the hotel - it may not look as appealing but trust me - inside is completely different story! It is gorgeous inside! They are currently overgoing refurbishment so car park is full of all sort building materials (which is understandable) - but just wait till you go in ;) There are fresh flowers in reception room welcoming you on an arrival, fresh carpets, very polite and helpful staff. Everything around - from restaurant, through bar, breakfast room, reception to rooms have been refurbished in a very tasteful way. It compliments the location fully! - OH, did I mention already the hotel has a seafront view - so when you dine in restaurant you have a landscape to die for! - no matter which part of the restaurant room you are sat in. Room - we have been extremally surprised with - It was a ballroom size! Bed was large and comfy, and although we were expecting our daughter to sleep with us (That was the selection we made when booking) we have been given extra bed for her in the room, so very nice surprise. We dined in the restaurant the night of our stay. Fish Pie I ordered was the best I ever had in my life! I am not even joking! And food in general is magnificent! Extra Kudos for the chef(s) as what they do is magic! Our breakfast in the morning - smoked kippers for me and scrambled eggs with salmon for hubby were exceptional! We will be revisiting!

Please ditch the ashtray by the main entrance door. It can be really off-putting for non-smokers plus not very nice smell on the entrance doesn't give great 'feeling' to those who are just about to enter the reception. Thankfully on the inside there was only pleasant 'fragrances' that greeted us ;)

Location was near Isle of Skye so a good alternative to staying at Isle of Skye where accom were expensive. Was glad that I did a £3.90 upgrade to a room with sea view. It’s a basic room with basic amenities provided. Room was quite spacious, TV with Netflix was a bonus. Breakfast was not bad, but you’ll need to get the attention of the server to take your order. Convenience store is just next door. Free parking on premise as well.

It’s not too brightly lit so room was a bit dim but just a personal preference. Toilet was not clean, there were already clumps of hair on the floor when we checked into the room. Something to take note of.
