From start to finish everything was 1st class. Jan was a very welcolming host, gave us lots of useful information and always available to give help and advice. The cottage was spotlesssly clean, the bed was very comfortable, the toiletries were of high quality. The linen and towels changed regularly. There were lovely chocolates left every day, good quality and delicious coffee provided, slippers and robes provided. The pool was great to have a cooling dip in as the weather was hot and the area around the pool private and relaxing. The cottage is close to all the town amenities, shops, restaurants, wine tastings, places of interest. We had a wonderful time and hope to return in the future.

Bleu Cobalt Cottage: Subtle Gestures - Extraordinary Stay Our three-night stay at Bleu Cobalt Cottage in Franschhoek was magical, despite the rainy weather - maybe even because of it. This charming accommodation was the perfect base for our 20th anniversary celebration, mainly thanks to our host, Jan's warmth and dedication. As we arrived in the rain, we found Jan mopping the entrance to prevent slipping - a thoughtful gesture setting the tone for our entire stay. This attention to detail was evident throughout the cottage. Windows, that could easily have been left looking onto a bland boundary wall was changed into vibrant, nature-infused vignettes with colourful hanging succulent baskets. Even a printout of weather conditions was provided to help plan our activities. Inside, the cottage exudes subtle luxury. Immaculate cleanliness and high-quality furnishings and finishes made us feel pampered. Modern conveniences like WiFi and air conditioning ensured comfort, but it was the little touches that truly elevated our experience: plush robes, comfortable slippers, homemade rusks, and chocolates, to mention just a few. Bleu Cobalt Cottage's commitment to guest delight was remarkable. Each day, we returned to fresh scents and subtle decor changes - new cushion arrangements, artfully draped throws, and lavender on pillows. These ongoing adjustments created a sense of care beyond the ordinary. Jan's acknowledgment of our anniversary in so many ways, touched us deeply. While we couldn't enjoy the beautiful pool and courtyard due to weather, the cottage's central location was a significant plus. Though not the largest or grandest accommodation in Franschhoek, Bleu Cobalt Cottage is exceptional. Its magic lies in meticulous attention to detail, warm hospitality, and constant efforts to enhance the guest experience through meaningful touches.

Beautiful, romantic apartment with a cozy, private garden. Jan was so kind. We arrived in the dark, and Jan was standing outside waiting for us. He took care of all little details and gave excellent recommendations for restaurants. Apartment is very well equipped to handle power outage, and hot water for shower. Bed was luxurious and warm.

Nothing about the property. There’s no load shedding. Unfortunately, there was a storm knocking off power lines. There was no power for almost 24 hour.. we walked in the dark to restaurant. We had good head lamp though. Room was a little cold without power in the winter.

Perfect location, short walk into town. Cottage is well equipped. Jan's attention to detail is second to none. Welcome bottle of local wine in the fridge. Ice provided on request. Jan pops in for a daily cleaning / Tidy up followed by an evening turn-down and added touches such as new cushions, throws, flowers on the pillow and local home-made chocolates. Full Guesthouse / Hotel service which was unexpected for an apartment. Pool area is amazing...Jan even kindly moved the sun lounger to the best sunny spot for me daily.

Nothing!!....usual Eskom last minute load shedding schedules are frustrating and out of his control but Jan makes every effort to alleviate this as the flat is supplied with rechargeable lamps and lightbulbs and a flask so that you can store boiling water before you go to bed to use in the morning. Wi-Fi works throughout on a back-up inverter. Jan sends you regular load shedding schedules so you're always aware. Quick Tip...don't forget to turn off lamps and TV before the power cuts as they'll come on again in the middle of the night...we learnt by our mistakes ;-)

Everything! The personal attention to detail by the owner was exceptional. He provided fresh linens each day, fresh coffee & cream, biscotti, fruit, chocolates at night with a turn down, towels on lounges by the pool. The cottage was charming with a kitchenette, dining table, living room, bedroom which opened to a private terrace and a swimming pool. Jan was extremely helpful with restaurant tips, winery suggestions, transportation ideas. The location was very central to the town…easy walking distance to restaurants and even a few wineries…the wine tram was a little over a block away. We stayed a week and wish we could have lingered longer! Blue Cobalt was truly a home away from home for us. We will be back!

Everything was perfect!

The location was perfect to the amenities around. Jan was such a super host and we enjoyed the personalized service he gave. His knowledge of the area and the places to visit allowed us to see more of Franschhoek during our stay. The cottage is so neat and tidy with everything you need. The outside has a cute pool area perfect to lounge around. Really enjoyed our stay and hoping to come back soon.

Everything exceeded my expectations, from the moment I booked and even after I checked out, the correspondence from Jan detailed everything possible. The accommodation was exceptionally clean, comfortable and beautiful. The extra touches were so special. Jan is an exceptional host and deserves a rating of 10. The location was excellent, convenient and walking distance to everything needed. It was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. A slice of heaven. Thank you Jan!

The attention to detail that Jan put into making our stay memorable was fantastic. From little personalized welcome notes for us and our baby daughter, to a bottle of champagne for my birthday, every detail was well thought out and considered. The unit is spotless, the bed incredibly comfortable and the finishings modern and well maintained. It's walking distance to the centre & the tram station which is so convenient. Highly recommend staying here.

The host Jan made the entire experience so enjoyable. He gave us so much assistance and information that was tremendously helpful during our stay. The place was stunning (great pool, bedroom, bathroom, everything seemed new) and so well looked after. Jan thank you for everything, we will certainly be back!!

nothing was a perfect place and host

It was exceptionally clean, and very near to all shops and restaurants. The Owner spoilt us with wonderful little touches. Jan went out of his way to Courier a watch we had left behind the same day we left. The accommodation had everything one would need.

TV. We would have liked the full DSTV or been able to project our phone onto the TV, but we used our account and watched on iPad so we were fine with that. Being older we don't go out at night.
