I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay. It was an over night birthday getaway. We stayed in the farmers cottage with the outdoor hot tub, and had really lovely views of the lake and the North Sea in the distance. The room is beautifully decorated with a large attached bathroom. There is so much attention to detail, the hotel really has thought of everything. Checkin was a breeze and all of the staff were absolutely wonderful. We ate at the restaurant for lunch and evening meal and the food was incredible. Everything was fresh, good portion sizes and service was amazing. It’s definitely on our top list of hotels to revisit.

There was nothing we didn’t like and will definitely be coming back. Have already highly recommended on socials and with friends and family.

A brand new and very attractive hotel called The Tempus built to the highest standards, separate from the original Charlton Hall. Large and very comfortable ground-floor room and bathroom, opening out onto the patio and terrace with views to beautiful open country. Excellent sophisticated cuisine and friendly staff. Dog-friendly, with welcome biscuits provided! Location not far from the sea. Very good value.

Lack of bath in the bathroom despite lots of space. Over-complicated 'touch' lightswitches, hard to see in the dark. Still a lot of building work in progress, with some associated noise. Our satnav couldn't find the hotel. Directions are needed from Booking.com and/or the hotel saying that the hotel address of Chathill is misleading; the driveway into the estate grounds is indicated by a sign on the A1 near the beginning of a short stretch of dual carriageway.

The hotel is gorgeous and has a quirky design with beautifully decorated rooms. We stayed in the Tempus Junior Suite, which exceeded our expectations. The staff were very attentive, and the food served at the restaurant for dinner, breakfast, and the wedding was exceptional.

It's hard to find faults with this hotel. However, the iron in our room did not have a steam function, making it very difficult to press our garments. The quality of the iron was poor. We had to make a trip into Alnwick to buy a steam iron so we could re-press our wedding clothes, which had become creased during travel. Additionally, the Wi-Fi was not high speed in our opinion, and the book in our room had the incorrect password written inside. While it is a minor point, a hotel charging £350 per night should get these details right. None of the above would stop us staying at the hotel again though.

Wife is amputee with limb found the gravel flicked everywhere by cars in the car park a problem when attending meals.night lights back to pole barn 2 not working also shower water floods into bedroom had to use rolled up towel to stop it.. Bought our own seat for shower as wife can’t stand on one leg. Maybe think of providing one, crack in sink over tightened plug. Stayed three times before always love the area ,food,staff and comfort just thought this time the attention to detail and maintenance was slacking a bit , hope you find this as good feedback , we really do enjoy your complex.

What can I say? This place is an amazing hidden gem. We were looking for somewhere close to Alnwick Castle and the gardens. We stumbled upon Charlton Hall and so glad we did. The staff are exceptional. They are so welcoming from the moment we arrived until we departed. I have never experienced a place where every single staff member was so friendly, kind, welcoming, and professional. They are a credit to the hotel. We stayed in Charlton Hall rather than the part next to the restaurant and we were so glad we did. It is so quirky and incredibly unusual. We stayed in Harry (all rooms have names) and none of the decor should have matched yet it was stunning. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. The bathroom is spotless and they provide beautiful toiletries. A bathrobe and slippers can be found in the wardrobe which was such a lovely touch. The bed is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I wanted to bring the mattress home! We had dinner at The Tempest. It was delicious! I have to give a mention to the staff again. They were so lovely! Fortunately we had some clear weather when we stayed so were able to enjoy the outdoor seating after our meal which was lovely. We also enjoyed breakfast before leaving. I would highly recommend eating here. The location is great for all tourist attractions at and around Alnwick. It was just a 10 minute drive to the castle and gardens. I cannot say enough positive things about Charlton Hall. It is an incredible place to stay and will definitely be visiting again (even just to see the giraffe).

Breakfast was a bit of a let down after the meal we had the night before. Bacon was like cardboard, sausages were dry as overcooked and a lack of being offered more tea or coffee. The night before service was great and the meals we had were really tasty

Did not like the fact that the blind did not work in the bedroom, which meant you could not stop the morning light coming in and waking you earlier than you need. Perhaps an eye mask should of been made available, or do not use the room till it is repaired. Also would off preferred to have been in the room we had booked as the room you gave us was up the stairs, and did not have a private outside area for sitting outside and enjoying the sun!

An absolute gem. Booked this place for our visit to Northumberland based on reviews, location and budget. We had a Pole-Barn room which was perfect for one night and very reasonable, especially as it was a Friday. The room was compact but glamorous! Bath robes and slippers, crystal glasses and furnished to a high standard. Wet room was fab as were the lighting options. There was also a little bistro table outside with nice views . Reception and beyond looked (and smelled!) amazing and you really felt a sense of luxury. We had a superb meal and breakfast was as good. Such nice touches with the crockery ( le creuset). The coffee was amazing too.

Wow....where to start. Fabulous hotel, from the accommodation, reception, quality of breakfast, ditto for evening meal and excellent service from each and every one of the staff. You would be mad not to give this place a go and we can quite understand why it is a very popular wedding destination - it is superb. We had a fabulous family room as we typically travel with our adult daughter who has learning disabilities, so when I say the staff were excellent, they truly were, kind and considerate at all times. The hotel is dog friendly and has an array of additional accommodation, from Plantation Pods around a small lake and additional buildings dotted around the estate. It is like another world - very highly recommended.

The comfort and decor of the whole place is amazing. We were amazed to find it was a relative new build. The thought and details that have gone into it is wonderful. All the staff were amazing, really well trained but friendly, .you should be proud of them. Spacious comfortable room, large bed (room 212), large bathroom with super shower a nd large bath. Wardrobes that light up as you approach them, fridge, clever lighting system and spotlessly clean. Food in restaurant was great, both dinner and breakfast. Location close to coastal road. Couldn't have wished for more.

Very warm welcome, friendly staff. It's a beautiful spot, lovely layout and attractive decor.

It's very hard to see the turning off the A1 at night, so we missed it, then had to U-turn, not ideal. The decor is beautiful but I'd rather more services, bar open longer, later checkout and breakfast. We had to turn off the fridge in the room because of the noise it made. And it only had water in it. All the lighting was 'mood' but not practical. The bathroom mirror was way above my height so useless. But it's a very beautiful place overall.
