The Staff were amazing, so friendly and knowledgeable about the places around to visit. The meals we had were delicious, we ate 3 evening meals out of our 4 night stay with a top quality bottle of wine each time, breakfast was so nice with plenty to choose from, everything was top quality and we couldn't find fault with any of it. We stayed in the French room while it was large and comfortable the bathroom was across the hallway which we thought was going to be a problem but wasn't at all when we got used to it as it was large and had a shower in the bath, we were provided with nice bathrobes too.

Can't think of anything.

This was our first time at the Tankerville and it was excellent! We had our 2 dogs and it was safe to say we were all made to feel incredibly welcome! The staff were friendly and incredibly amenable. There is an enclosed garden space which we got to use briefly although it was then closed whilst laying new grass seed. The location is beautiful and close enough to drive to all the local attractions. Pub staff really helpful in suggesting local attractions. Breakfast was excellent!

Our only point to feedback was that we were in the French room (first on the right) and this room's bathroom is across the corridor. Nothing that can be done about this and it is private for the room but you have to do a bit of a dash after shower/bath. Luckily we never saw any other guests but it's the only thing we would have changed.

Fabulous old traditional watering hole , in a picturesque English village . Great food, and real ales served . Beautiful beer garden to rear, to rear of property, overlooking wonderful countryside. Great Wi-Fi , comfy bed , superb staff , very welcoming, and helpful. Plenty of tea , and coffee , with fresh milk , in a small fridge . Beautiful birdsong from morning till night . Great church 100yds up road , a must visit .

The bedroom was cosy , and in need of updating. The bedroom floor was lower , than the landing floor and this caught me out, on a couple of occasions. The bathroom is across the landing floor, but is for your sole use .

This is a fantastic place to stay. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The room we stayed in was spacious and comfy. It had an ensuite with a bath and shower, plenty of towels, a bathrobe each and even face cloths. Soap was provided and shower gel if needed. The bed was large and comfy. There was a small fridge with fresh milk provided daily along with 2 bottles of water and a chocolate bar each. Tea and coffee were also provided in the room. Some handy little additions included a picnic blanket, a torch in each bedside cabinet, a fan, a hot water bottle and a sewing kit. We ate every night in the pub, we didn't intend to, but the food was so delicious, we didn't feel the need to go anywhere else. There was not one meal that we didn't enjoy. The breakfast was amazing as well, we didn't need lunch as we filled up at breakfast time. Breakfast included fresh fruit, cereal, toast and a traditional fried breakfast which you could have all items or just one or two! It's about 10 - 15 minutes from Alnwick and about 30 minutes from Bamburgh. If you have a dog, all rooms are dog friendly, theres a barrel of water outside to top up the dogs water and towels in the entrance, should you need to dry your dog before going upstairs. You are able to take your dog when you eat as well, as there a tables in the bar which are dog friendly. Overall a fantastic stay and very highly recommended!

Having to leave!!

This is a classic, dog friendly, village country pub with rooms that caters for locals and tourists alike. The bar and restaurant are both busy and well patronised with a genuine buzz of the local community and we felt immediately welcome. The breakfast was first class and the evening meals we ate were good value and well presented and cooked, too. Ellen, our contact was first class and accommodated our various requests in an efficient and prompt manner. Our dog was spoiled and the facilities for him in the enclosed rear garden were great.

We had booked a room without realising that it didn't have an ensuite but a had a separate, private bathroom across the landing. Our bad for not reading the small print but a bit inconvenient.

What a gem. The Tankerville Arms was excellent for a short stay. We were greeted by friendly staff. Food was excellent and you won’t be disappointed with the breakfast. Everything was fresh and well presented. Even the dog was given a cooked sausage . We stayed in the French room. The room had everything you would need for a comfortable stay .

We are elderly so needed to take care on stairs with it being a narrow tread. Plus a step down into bedroom . But this is an old worldly pub . You have your own private bathroom but it is across from your room. Not a problem really and robes were provided.

Very comfortable room and bed with excellent facilities (fridge, toiletries, kettle etc). Lovely welcome card and chocolates. Excellent breakfast and we also ate in the restaurant every night, and found the food delicious (highly recommend the sea bass). Staff were very helpful and suggested places to visit. This was our 2nd visit, and will definitely stay again.

Only slight issue was the small size of the TV in the room as my eyesight isn't 100%.

I couldn’t fault the quality of service by the staff who were engaging and professional. The evening menu was not extensive but the choice was good with the food being beautifully cooked and presented without any delay. Breakfast set us up for day, again with good choices. Woody particularly enjoyed his sausage! All in all our stay was enjoyable, made so by the kindness, attention and professionalism of the staff and owners, and the ambience created by the stove and the friendliness of the locals. We visited in February, miserably wet and cold, but we’ve every intention to return later in the year when the sun is hopefully out.

We stayed in the French room, which wasn’t en suite, but had a private bathroom across the landing. Not a problem at all, the provided bath robes were a nice touch. The sloping bedroom floor was challenging for my partner, but the building is old with character. The bed was comfortable and we slept well enough, my only criticism would be that the traditional sheet, blanket and eiderdown combo was a little heavy for us, - being soft southerners used to a duvet.

Traditional pub that serves the locals and odd visitors like us. Very welcoming. We stayed as we were doing a Chillingham castle ghost tour - it was very conveniently located for that . Dinner and lunch were great. For such an old place, it was in good order. If you want a cosy traditional inn, this is for you. Would stay again if in the area.

Location is very rural so great for a quiet getaway and also fairly close to Alnwick but if you are looking for a town with things to do, perhaps not great for that.

The staff were wonderful so friendly, very the road outside was closed due to road work, we were given maps with the best way to go. The toilets were great, very clean, and well designed. The food was fabulous, very fresh piping hot and plenty of it. A table was kept for us every night if you want to eat.

Although in a pretty place it is very out of the way, there is nothing but a church. The pub is very quiet after 9.00pm and no one there after 10.00pm. This was fine for us but not for everyone.
