The breakfast was ok, but the evening meal we had and the Christmas lunch were disappointing. We would like to stay at The Lobster again - but only for bed and breakfast - no other meals. We found some other good food restaurants in Sheringham.

The dinner we had was very poor and the Christmas lunch, though a lot of food including a Yorkshire Pudding with the Turkey - Yorkshire Pudding is meant for Roast Beef and not fowl, the parsnips were raw. Parsnips should be cooked in honey and should be toffee-like and delicious, instead of greasy and raw.

The location, in the village yet so close to the sea, is excellent, and an easy walk from the train station, and local buses. The Lobster, and indeed the whole village, seems to be very dog friendly. I’ve never seen so many well behaved pets. My room was really comfortable and well designed. The staff were superb, and the breakfasts were tasty and beautifully served (hot food served on hot plates - a luxury) The village has a lovely mixture of “bucket and spade” and ice cream shops, an old fashioned iron-mongers and plenty of places to eat. It also has a superb museum, with the really interesting history of the local fishing and lifeboats.

We had the family room for two nights and it's superb; really spacious with a decent sized living room area and a games console set up for the kids. The beds were comfortable and we slept really well. The location is great - right next to the seafront. Breakfast was also good and the staff were lovely - really helpful and kind.

We were lucky to get a parking space (there are about 5) so we didn't have far to lug cases etc. This is to be expected in such an old part of town of course but could be challenging with kids in tow. There is a larger public carpark nearby..

All the staff with whom we had contact were very welcoming and helpful. The bedroom and ensuite bathroom were well-appointed, with the beds being comfortable and good water pressure from the shower. There was a great choice at breakfast which was tasty and provided a good start to our day's cycling. We were able to store our bikes overnight in an enclosed rear yard. We were advised in advance that live music may be played within the pub downstairs which would be likely to be heard in the bedrooms, but on the night of our stay this did not seem to be the case, with the pub closing at 10pm (although we had keys to gain access if we had been out after that time).

It had been a hot day and the bedroom was hot, and whilst one of the 2 windows was open, it was restricted in the extent to which it could be opened. The other window was non-opening. However, an electric fan was available in the room and this certainly helped to provide a welcome breeze.

I paid a little more than I normally would for the convenience of the central location. It was totally worth it. Customer service and facilities in the room were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble and the cooked breakfasts were superb. It was a festival weekend so expected some noise late (earplugs were supplied) but our room was a little sound pocket. Beds were comfy too. Would definitely stay again. Highly recommend.

No parking available due to location, so you need to factor in car parking costs. This was made clear by the hotel though.

The stuff were great, unobtrusively quick and competent, and contributed importantly to the good atmosphere. Room temperature was perfect! Great setting and nice quirky layout to the place. It was quite - as we had been supplied iwth ear plugs I was expecting to be disturbed by noise at night.

Internet wasn't brilliant but I did't really try! It is not what I'm there for after all. I think the connection was switched off at night, which in many ways seems sensible, but it didn't seem to have a broad enough bandwidth for my mac. 4G was adequate. The food menu had a lot fo promise but somehow the end result wasn't special, e.g. the sea bas had good flavours but was slightly overcooked (not an easy thing to get spot on).

Lovely room - lovely pub with great food - breakfast was wonderful. Powerful shower. We also got our room upgraded which was really nice. Surprisingly quiet but it was very cold outside so maybe not anyone out in the garden so no noise from there - you couldn't hear the pub noise from the room we were in (room 4) so we had a peaceful night. The location is perfect, just up from the seafront and on the main strip of shops, restaurants etc. we actually ate dinner at the pub and it was really delicious.

The only negatives for me was that the bed was very hard - my husband liked it but I prefer something more soft and cosy but that's always a personal preference! Also it was a bit chilly in the room and the radiator didn't seem to be working properly (maybe heating was on a timer) so maybe portable heaters for use during winter but it really wasn't a big issue and temperature was fine overnight etc.

Great to find this gem a stones throw from everything. I am sure the experience may be a little different at the height of summer vs winter (thinking of parking when I say this) but forward planning and reading reviews and the property information readily available would mean you were prepared and had back up plans in place. We had a notification regarding potential for noise ahead of our arrival but we didn't hear a thing from our room. This is a centrally located property with many pubs and holiday lets in the vicinity so would no doubt be much livelier in the summer months vs our February visit. Staff across the board were courteous, efficient and friendly and worked really well as a Team. They all seemed happy to be there. I came with a friend for a weekend of walking, eating and drinking and this place was a perfect base. We ate dinner and breakfast here and both meals were delicious. Fairly typical pub grub with good options available for both meat eaters and vegetarians. To cosy down after a day walking or spent on the beach it was perfect. We booked a table for dinner and drinks ahead of our arrival for the Saturday night and would recommend doing this as the place was busy. Rooms are located in a separate building to the rear of the pub and our triple room was warm and spacious with good amenities including iron and ironing board, kettle, Nespresso machine with pods, tea and coffee, plenty of milk and some packets of biscuits. Toiletries and decent quality towels were also supplied. Plenty of pillows too. The only tiny points I think could have been improved upon (I am nit picking here and it wasn't an issue for us) would be a plug and light for the single bed in this room and a bit of a additional grout bleaching in the shower cubicle. Would I come back? Absolutely and without hesitation. Have already recommended this place to friends - especially those with dogs.

There was nothing to dislike.

Great location and the ability to store bicycles

There was a strong wind outside on the evening that we visited. I asked the bar staff if I could shut the front door of the pub as it was cold in the restaurant where we as well as a number of other people were eating. I was told that the front door had to remain open as it was a fire regulation I am not sure if that was correct but if so then I would suggest that they find a suitable way of allowing the door to be closed as it will be unbearably cold in the winter

What a find! Our double room was small but was beautifully decorated and had everything that we could need and lots of extra 5* touches as well, such as a nespresso type machine (as well as a kettle) and a small gaming console. The bathroom was a good size, well laid out and immaculately clean (not even a watermark on the glass shower or mirror! Staff were very welcoming and on hand if we needed anything and the breakfast was very good quality and plenty of it. Although above the pub, there were no issues with noise and we slept really well. A 30 second walk and you are on the beach and in amongst all of the lovely town amenities, we can't wait to go back. Best value for money you can get!!

We travel alot and there was genuinely, nothing I could see to improve our experience of The Lobster.
