We travelled to Bristol to visit our loved one in a nearby nursing home. From the moment we arrived, The Coach House felt like a safe, welcoming haven during an emotional and difficult time. Jane served breakfast each morning and is a huge asset, friendly, thoughtful and always delivering freshly cooked meals. Iza handled every booking change quickly and smoothly, making our stay as easy as possible. All staff were fantastic, including the cleaning team who kept the room spotless and greeted us warmly each day. When our loved ones condition changed and he moved to end-of-life care, and, ultimately died, we had to extend our stay several times at short notice. Even when the B&B was fully booked, the owner called other local places on our behalf to secure a room nearby, going well beyond normal service. We always came back to the Coach House. This kindness, compassion and practical help made all the difference to us. The calm atmosphere, clean rooms and exceptional service meant we ended up extending three times and we're still here as I write this review for the foreseeable future.

There was honestly nothing to fault. Everything was handled with genuine care, attention to detail and professionalism. Even when our circumstances changed unexpectedly and we needed support, the team responded with kindness and practical help. The room was clean and comfortable, the service consistent, and every member of staff went out of their way to make a difficult time easier for us. It’s rare to find a place where nothing feels like too much trouble, but that’s exactly what we experienced here.

Really friendly, helpful staff. The lady serving breakfast was lovely. Great location close to Bristol, free parking. Cute room in a courtyard with a place to exercise our very old dog. Tables and chairs outside rooms. Good selection for continental breakfast, very reasonable at £5. Comfy beds, clean linens and towels. Bathroom small but clean.

Light from courtyard shone through bathroom door. Bathroom was tiny. A little tired looking in places but much better than you would expect for the price.

Lovely period building with super friendly hosts. Read some reviews saying the rooms were a little tired and creaky, I thought this only added to the character, our room was spotlessly clean. Plenty of space for the dog bed and he was made very welcome. We have family nearby and had been looking for a good dog friendly place to stay, happy to say we will be back 😊

There was a shared fridge in the corridor which was a great idea. I put some milk in it only to find out the next morning that is was turned on but not working. But hey these things happen and wasn’t a major issue.

Lovely friendly manager Really comfortable bed, huge with a firm mattress, nice pillows and warm duvet. Dogs allowed, charged at £10 extra a night, separate breakfast area for people with dogs. A very reasonable continental breakfast (£4) with a good choice, different types of tea, lovely yogurts and juice. Decent sized bathroom, very clean, nice toiletries in refillable dispensers, massive, thick towels. Quirky building, easy to check in and out, easy to find. Located close to Bristol but very quiet, plenty of free parking spaces.

Nothing.

The decor in the rooms was nice / more interesting than a chain hotel. The beds were firm which was a good thing. The staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was good with a private car park for customers and there were plenty of free spaces. Found it quiet at night / not disturbed by ambient noise or other guests. The breakfast was especially good, with a nice seating area, good selection of cereal / yoghurt / toast etc., and very nice cooked breakfast, all for a reasonable price and with friendly service.

Only minor things such as creaky floorboards, but it's an old building and didn't find this an issue.

Location was useful. Room was nice, breakfast was great. The place has clearly improved in recent times. We stayed twice, I used to live in Frenchay 35 years ago. Enjoyed our stay.

Reception was closed more than I expected, but it worked out. The room keys need updating. Bit odd, but had character.

great breakfast, great staff comfortable clean large room

not sure what could done about it realy but our first night was great very peaceful and we slept well,on the second night the room above was occupied and the noise was bad we could hear every foot step people talking tv noise and every time the bathroom was used we were woken by the plumbimg noise had to resort to ear plugs by two in the morning. I can only coclude the walls and floors are very thin. The pub still showing on the booking.com photos opposite the place was closed down but there is another a short walk away but this was booked up both nights for food, I would recommend booking in advance as only breakfast is available at the coach house and it does not have a bar.

The comfortable bed, and the range of options for heating in the room. Wide range of choices for breakfast. Able to park the car. Staff went above and beyond during flooding to get to work. Short drive to Southmead hospital and cribbs causeway.

Parts of the room a bit tired. Broken window could be repaired. We should have asked for an extra pillow each and an extra towel each. Overall though, far better than a great deal of places and would go back.

Super lovely place to stay for a quick stop over, or a weekend away. The rooms have lots of character and the staff were lovely. The breakfast accommodated for a lot of dietary requirements which I valued a lot! Overall a rather peaceful getaway.

The bed was a bit too hard for me but my partner said it was comfy. The bathrooms were very clean but if I had to be super picky a tad outdated.

Manager is really friendly and helpful, lovely approach to guests. Room was spacious and warm. Comfortable for our family overnight stay. Breakfast options good.

It’s not the owner/managers fault but unfortunately our room was at the front and there were several groups of guests who came back in the early hours of the morning (between 2 - 3.30am) being extremely loud, knocking on the front door which was locked overnight… they’d either forgotten their keys or were too inebriated to find the keyhole. Didn’t make for a good nights sleep which was a shame as everything else was very good.
