The Wheatsheaf had a good atmosphere with excellent attentive staff and both the two evening meals and breakfasts we had over the weekend were excellent. The room was clean and tidy with a good sized ensuite and large shower.
There is a church opposite the Wheatsheaf which rings the bells until quite late at night and starts early in the morning, so if you are a light sleeper the hotel provides ear plugs. This might not suit everyone. It didn't bother us though as our window had secondary glazing which helped to muffle the sound enough so as not to interrupt our sleep.

A lovely pub with delicious food and very friendly and helpful staff. This is a good place to stay with a dog. The building is old and quirky so to reach the bedrooms requires climbing stairs and going along corridors and through swing doors. This would not be easy if your dog needed to get outside for a wee in the night. Otherwise great and we felt very welcome. The village is very pretty.

Absolutely loved the Inn and it gives off a homely feel. All the staff were very friendly. We loved our princess bed. As a 5ft 3 woman, I definitely needed the mini steps to climb onto the bed. Getting out of bed was fantastic as you just slod down and your striaght into a standing position! The mattress is so compfy you easily fall asleep. Food is perfect and the drinks flowed. Breakfast was amazing with a good choice on the menu to choose. The walks around are good and we loved finding the Fairy Steps.
Nothing we didn't like, it was all good.

My wife and I had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Wheatsheaf. Lucy, Callum, and the team really looked after us and went over and beyond. The food was excellent, and the drinks reasonably priced with a varied selection. Our room was pristine with an amazing modern bathroom. Our dog was fussed over and given plenty of treats. The area is beautiful with amazing walks. I have no hesitation in recommending the Wheatsheaf to others. We will definitely return.

Absolutely lovely building and the room was really nice, comfortable and very clean. A nice quiet location but easy access to other places. Perfect for a peaceful night's getaway. The food was amazing. Definitely would return.
We loved the pub, but we did feel like it catered more for diners than if you wanted to just sit and have a drink. We did have a table booked for food but beforehand had to sit outside because all of the tables were booked. Luckily, it was nice weather, so it wasn't really a problem, and I'm sure other quieter times it's not an issue.

Very quaint old fashioned pub with rooms. Very clean , lovely staff who were exceptionally helpful during the dinner.
The room was quaint and clean with an old fashioned looking bed. Unfortunately as I got into the bed some of the slats became unfixed. My husband spent a while trying to get to fix them. I got up in the night and returning to bed it happened again ! Hence a very uncomfortable sleep !! I reported this in the morning so that others wouldn’t have the same experience.

Food was excellent, plenty of choice for vegan. Vegetarian and gluten free also. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel had a great car park close by and rooms were spotless with excellent ensuite bathrooms. There were lovely walks from right outside the door to take your dog.
Rooms were a little small and it would habe been nice to have a lounge to sit and relax in and have a pre dinner drink.

What a gorgeous little find! The Wheatsheaf was lovely stop over on our way to the Lake District. The price is incredibly valuable, and the breakfast was worth the stay alone. Also do yourself a favour and order the steak and cheese pie! It's absolutely delicious. Would definitely stay here again :)
The church bells were quite loud but the staff did supply us with ear plugs, which was a lovely touch.

We were in Room 1 which was very comfortable and spacious. The bed was firm which was to our liking and the shower was fabulous. The noise from the church bells / clock wasn’t any bother. I had ear plugs and my husband slept soundly without ear plugs. The breakfast was also brilliant and the porridge was the best I have ever had made with milk and cream. Yum. The staff were also fabulous, very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was also very busy and whist we didn’t dine there I would recommend booking and doing so.

The Wheatsheaf Inn is a great traditional pub/accommodation, the bar area is homely, staff most welcoming and helpful, the room was comfortable with a modern shower room. The bed mattress was high off the floor, comfy when you scale onto it. Breakfast great, quality porridge and the choice of smoked haddock & poached egg. The homemade chips with dinner were excellent.
I like the Inn and will return if in the area. Minor observation, would have preferred some more traditional pub grub choices on the dinner menu i.e. local pie / steak.
