The Mar Hall estate, with its historic buildings and, beautiful gardens with lovely for walks - the views of River Clyde and surroundings are so tranquil. Theres an 18 hole golf course. Newly built spa with indoor swimming pool and a well equipped gym. . Our room was lovely, a generous size, room 19. Huge comfortable bed, delightfully furnished. Breakfasts in the dining hall - great variety on offer, and well cooked and presented. Its a quality meal. . Fine dining restuarant in the evening too . Impressive Whiskey bar! Outside seating , patio front and back for drinks. Food is good, we had room service and restuarsnt dining. There's also casual dining, an Italian restuarant, even afternoon tea. The team 'concierge' are very helpful, knowledge of Scotlands historic local region , and will help plan your days out - very good indeed! Lastly there's plenty of free parking. All round, just brilliant. We'll worth a stay. We plan to return.

I can't say I didnt like anything.. we stayed two nights, we had no complaints. In fact , we were very impressed.

We arrived and were greeted at the door by the Concierge team who took us to our room, great guy really friendly. The room itself was lovely, very warm but no point fitting an aircon machine in Scotland for our week of summer per year. Very well put together, the bed was comfortable. The spa facilities were excellent, The facility was super clean and really well presented. Food from room service was good and arrived quickly.

The only comment I would make is the fridge in the room was warm, this was due to the cabinet its in, it has no room for the hot air to circle out, once I opened the door and pulled the fridge out it worked fine - maybe something should be looked at? noise of the veneration got on my nerves however this is easy done for me - my wife didn't think it was a big deal Breakfast was fine - the potato scone could of acted as Frisby it was solid but the rest was lovely.

Great location and views. Historic building with period interior. Extensive grounds. We stayed in a modern room close to the pool and spa. It was very spacious and comfortable.

Standard light in bedroom didn't work. Had to wait a long time for fresh milk to be brought to our room. At check in, I was asked for my credit card for 'pre-authorisation'. When I questioned this, I was told it was because some previous guests had 'done a runner'. Made me feel as though I was under suspicion immediately, and this was when the room had been pre-paid. Not good. Service at breakfast was slow and inattentive. Dishes and plates not cleared from our table. Cooked breakfast was good, but limited choice. No printed menus. In general, there was a lack of information in the room about services and facilities.

Lovely historic property, gorgeous grounds, absolutely fantastic staff including 2 (2!!) concierges, both, conveniently, named Alan. Top notch service and food, one of my favorite hotels IN THE WORLD. I can’t wait to go back, and I heartily suggest that you book now before prices catch up with the level of comfort, quality and service on offer. It is a SCREAMING deal right now, as they have just re-opened after a major overhaul.

Not one little thing. Well, it would have been nice to have fresh OJ for breakfast, but that’s just a little niggle.

The hotel is gorgeous with an old world glamour - it would make a good wedding venue. There were serious renovations going on but it didn't especially affect us however I think once they are complete the hotel will want to put it's prices up. The spa and gym will be fabulous. The staff were excellent and very friendly - properly trained and well managed. Great beds. Quiet and restful.

Access from the hotel to the spa isn't great especially if you have a robe / swimming things on. The restaurant food wasn't the best - it had the potential to be amazing but some of the dishes underwhelmed however the breakfast was fab - loose leaf tea, kippers, porridge / fresh fruit - everything I wanted basically!

Spa and nice big room. When we arrived the man at reception that took our cases was so kind, he even noticed we had proseco in our bag so got a bucket, ice and some glasses for us without us having to ask, it was such a nice gesture. Reception staff were lovely also.

Staff in the hall were very rude, they were serving all the older guests and walking past me and my friend. Not sure if this is just because we are young girls (21 years old) but we are paying the same as most people to stay in the hotel we expect the same treatment. We had to ask to me served, ask for more drinks, ask to be seated for breakfast in the morning and ask again to be served drinks at breakfast.

Gorgeous location. Fantastic food. Attentive service. They are doing significant upgrading but the building work was discreetly blocked off and didn't really impact us. Grounds were Gorgeous. They were putting up the Christmas decorations and the placed looked fabulous. My dog (a relaxed ex racing greyhound) was made so welcome that he treated the place like his own home! Super comfy four poster. I slept so well.

They have recently fenced off the site which I completely understand bit maps don't yet reflect that so we had to walk further than intended with our old dog to get back in A dog walker map at check in would be great until Google maps is updated. And maybe a combination lock on the far side gate so walkers can access the Erskine beach area. You could change the code regularly to keep security.

Beautiful accommodation & surrounding

Booking through you I checked in your q& a’s if it accepted dogs so went ahead & booked with no price mentioned for them but usually you pay on average £10 - £15 per night for a dog only to be told after I couldn’t cancel I will be charged £50 for 1 night wow wow wow if I had known this I wouldn’t have booked it obviously this rate is to put off customers from staying with dogs even though they say their dog friendly. If that’s the case where are the dog dishes, blanket, treats and not even allowed into any part where you dine so I had to put him in my vehicle whilst we ate. So perhaps you could put a dog rate up or simply say your not dog friendly

The Deluxe room was gorgeous. Decor beautiful, nice outlook from window. It was spacious and bed was large and very comfy. The new restaurant and refurbished lounge are modern and have a nice atmosphere. The new restaurant is now used for dinner and the original Chrystal Restaurant is only for breakfast. I was a bit disappointed that we couldnt dine in the original restaurant as I feel it is more elegant. Food however was amazing. Daniel and his staff team were very helpful, friendly and attentive.

The room was situated a good bit away from the main building, down a few corridors and next to the Spa. The corridor we had to use in Spa was wet with puddles of water from people using the pool. While there were Wet Floor signs it was really difficult to walk there in outdoor shoes and pull luggage. A health and safety issue. I reported it to manager who will raise my concern with Spa staff.

Had a very relaxed, comfortable stay at Mar Hall for my birthday. We were checked in by Arlene who was very friendly and professional. Our room was the deluxe double and had a lovely view of the golf course and hills, the bathroom has had a recent refurb and looks amazing, very large shower and bath with 2 sinks! The bedroom is still to receive it's refurb, which can be noticed due to the worn carpet and furniture,, however the bed was extremely comfortable and we also had a couch with small wooden coffee table. Our room was situated at the spa facilities, which was ideal. The spa facilities have had a refurb and the area looks very nice and welcoming, with comfortable deck beds around the indoor pool. We had the fine dining for dinner, which was very well presented and delicious. Emma, our waitress, was very attentive and professional. Breakfast buffet style was well cooked and tasty too. The large lounge area, with open fire place, was a lovely relaxing place to sit and have a drink, we even had lunch in there instead of the restaurant. Snacks can also be ordered from the menu. We had a lovely 2 day stay and will come back once all the refurbishments are complete.

We ventured out to have a walk around, however it wasn't as straight forward as we would have liked! The walking paths around the golf course stop abruptly with nowhere to go and if walking towards the exit there are no pavements and no lights at night, difficult when there are cars going to and fro. I'm hoping the refurbs will eventually include walking paths as the scenery out towards the Clyde is beautiful!
