The rooms are spacious and come with a private bathroom. The breakfast offers great value for money. The staff is friendly and helpful – even a late check-in on very short notice was no problem at all. The hotel is close to the Loch Lomond National Park and a fifteen minutes walk from the train stationen Dumbarton East.

A bit unflexible with the breakfast - it takes quite some time as it's no buffet. We had a tour booked the other day and they did not manage to get us the brekafast on time - the lady wasn't really helpfull at all. Anyways as we did not get it on time we also did not have to pay for it.

We were travelling from London area to visit Scotland. We travelled by car taking the west coast of UK. We took a break at Lake District and this was the next location on our nine days return trip. Location was perfect for exploring Loch Lomond area and travelling further up to Highlands. The restaurant was very nice, good food and lovely staff. We are very happy with the service and really enjoyed our stay. We would love to stay there again.

Overall the rooms and carpets may be a bit old and feel outdated. The hotel may benefit from some upgrade.

The beds were super comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful and the walk in shower is lovely. The breakfast is good value and was delicious. We had Lorne sausage and potato scone baps which were very good. The room came with loads of coffee and tea and massive mugs to use for your breakfast drink. A very charming 1970s vibe to the whole.pace with wood panelling, warm tartan and keyed doors. Cute!

No WiFi, honestly there was a how to guide in the wallet in the desk drawer and the website it directs you too doesn't exist. Just no WiFi access at all in the room. Weird in 2025. The room was also a little cold being served by an ancient radiator but there were extra blankets available so this was a major issue.

The value for money is excellent – a really low accommodation price for Scotland. Plenty of parking space. The room was fine and the bathroom was clean.

There was a smell of old cigarette smoke in the bathroom – maybe it’s just absorbed into the walls, hard to tell. The bed had a standard cover that was probably washed, but it looked like it had survived World War II, with stains, marks, and even some burn holes. We removed it since you don’t sleep under it anyway. The sheets underneath were perfectly clean and the bed itself was comfortable.

The experience was exceptional from start to finish. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and went above and beyond for me. I turned up around 4:30pm, and they were able to get me a restaurant reservation booked on what seemed to be quite a busy Friday (I think there was a function on). They even remembered me as I went to check out the next day which was a lovely touch. The room was warm and welcoming, with everything you need to have a pleasant night and you couldn't hear any noise from the road or the function room. Bathroom seemed newly fitted with a lovely walk-in shower. I stay away a lot for work, but this was the best night's sleep I have had in a while!

I can't really fault the Abbotsford Hotel though I will say I was initially put off booking as I thought it looked a little dated on the outside. Glad I took the punt as it was really lovely!

Very noticeably friendly and helpful staff from the beginning. The restaurant is lovely and the food is excellent! Very competitively priced too. Clean, with courteous staff, couldn't fault it. The rooms are clean, comfortable, quite a good size, and quiet. We will definitely be visiting again!

The 'bar-meal eating area' could have a few non-dining seats, because every one in there is for eating only so to sit and enjoy just a drink means having to sit in the actual bar where there are TV,s and rather 'loud' and quite pleasant chat (unnecessary swearing) going on from non-resident locals and visitors. I understand that the locals need to be catered for, but that part could easily be partitioned off. If it was my hotel, I'd do that! Oh, one other thing. Not good to see guests, lots of them, 'in pyjamas' at breakfast! It just isn't, shouldn't be, done!

Staff- staff (and food)made this stay . They are all so approachable, friendly, accommodating and extremely good at their jobs. Everything seemed effortless because of their efficiency. From reception to bar, to restaurant to cleaners - all friendly and very good at their job. Shona on reception and James ( Co owner, I think) were exceptional - Great service and assisted me in my Still Game quest Room a good size and facilities good. The bed and pillows were amazing. The best sleep I’ve had for years !! Better than my own bed !

My second stay at The Abbortsford and once again it did not disappoint! I made a reservation for evening dining and was super impressed that the specials had changed despite me only staying just a few months ago. Still loads to choose from on the menu from light bites to big meals, as a veggie is it SOOOOO nice to have a number of meals to choose from. Veggie breakfast was delicious as ever too. The staff go above and beyond and the room was, once again, clean and well kept. Will be rebooking!

The room was modern, clean, comfortable and quiet. I loved the wooden door plaques! Breakfast was very good value for the price and there was a good range of options. The veggie sausage wasn't quorn, which was fab! All the staff were kind, helpful and friendly; nothing was too much trouble. A lovely marshmallow teacake in the room was much nicer than the usual biscuits.

The fixed bottle of shampoo didn't have a functioning spring so it was hard to operate.

I was pleasantly surprised that although the building does look quite old fashioned, that inside it was note dated it gave us a nice motel vibe. The food there is amazing too I would highly recommend the pasta dish. Plenty of room for parking, staff are friendly and informative, nice on site restaurant at decent prices.

Breakfast was good but the bacon sandwich was very basic, you had to pay extra if you wanted more than one topping would have been nice to get two and then charged for more than 2. Check in was a little slow.
