I didn’t like having to pay extra to use the spa facilities

Better breakfast service than last stay due to having to reserve a time slot for breakfast. Much more efficient than turning up and having to wait at busy times. Hot food made to order. Was delicious. Bedroom was very comfortable.

We were surprised to learn that there is now an additional charge of £75 for a single parent and two children under 16 to use the newly refurbished swimming pool — likely for no more than an hour. On our previous visit, pool access was included in the room rate. While we appreciate that the spa and pool have since been refurbished and are now offered as part of a combined package at £25 per person, this change makes the hotel less suitable for families. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t choose to return with children under these terms. It would be lovely to return for a spa stay with an adult in future, when we could fully enjoy all the facilities. Gym access remains included in the room rate but is not available for guests under 16.

The restaurant and standard of food exceeded expectation

Spa was far too busy, limiting users to two hours between 1700 and 2100 resulted in the facility being overcrowded, so busy that we couldn’t even place our towel on a sun lounger. Over crowding in the outside jacuzzi also meant we didn’t have a chance to enjoy this Tried to contact the spa 2-3 times in the morning to ask if we could use before checking out but sadly no one answered the phone Having to pay 25 pound per person to enjoy the spa facilities we felt was quite expensive considering the cost of the room for one night, would have expected the use of the general spa to have been included in this price. £50 to use the spa for only 20mins due to overcrowding sadly isn’t great value for money

Beautiful surroundings. Nice bar and restaurant, evening meal was excellent. Nice staff.

On arrival we were told our room was just up the stairs, however there were so many stairs it was ridiculous. The receptionist did say we could drive to the top car park but did not recommend it which would have been far easier and less exhausting for us. Room was far too hot and only one window would open and only by a very little way. The bath needed a proper clean. The toilet did not flush easily at all. Breakfast was disappointing, we ordered the Scottish Breakfast and the sausage was not nice at all, bacon ok. Only one egg and one slice of bacon. The best part was the toast your own toast. Poor tea, very weak.

Location, room was comfortable, fantastic shower. Incredible golf course. Food was impeccable. Restaurant fully booked but got room service. Most of the staff were polite and very helpful. I found a couple to be inattentive at times and on occasion made us feel out of place when asking a question.

Spa for treatments fully booked so missed out on any treatments - they do recommend booking in advanced but that’s not always possible when you don’t know the windows in which you will be available to attend. Not their fault but still disappointing. Stairs very creaky outside room and loud guests make it difficult to sleep at times but it quietens down

Lovely position and views. Excellent for golf .We has a superking executive room which was bug and comfortable. Staff on reception were helpful. The restaurant was very good - nice breakfast and great evening meals.

Very isolated without a car -it is walking distance to the station but it is a very steep walk and not easy at night. Also be aware that there is no lift so access to rooms with cases was tricky! Spa and pool were not available as the works had over run which was very disappointing.

Lovely large room (executive double) for myself & daughter. Beautiful view of river Clyde. Restaurant lunch & dinner were amazing - well done chef! There was a wedding at the main house on the Saturday but we were not disturbed at all. Very handy for access to Glasgow - just straight down motorway.

Room maintenance was a bit deficient - not replacing loo rolls & tea bags, and dusty surfaces and glasses in bathroom ( not just from 4 nights!) .After the weekend our room was not made up by our return at 3pm , I phoned to ask for more water, tea bags and clean cups, these were attended to quickly but I was appalled that our dirty cups were just rinsed in the basin in the bathroom (no gloves used). , dried (in the bathroom) & replaced on table! I hope that isn’t how crockery is cleaned BETWEEN guests!

All food was excellent. Views outstanding. Excellent golf course. Staff could not be more helpful. Well situated with good travel links by train to Glasgow and West coast.

There were a lot of stairs to get to the restaurant. Whilst I considered it a workout, anyone with any bad legs/knees would be in trouble as the restaurant/bar is in the top level. Also, it would be helpful if there was a shuttle service from the hotel to the station as the station is considerable further than indicated on all maps. Ok going as it is all downhill. The local taxi service was very good with a fare of £8 each way into the village which is fine when there is a group of you.

We loved everything about our 2 night stay,set in a great location with amazing views over the river clyde,the hotel inside and grounds outside were spotless clean ,on arrival everyone made us feel so welcome,all the girls on reception were so friendly and really helpful ,our room was great with a huge bed and really good shower,we were greeted warmly at breakfast, the choice and quality of food was amazing,there were 6 in our group and everyone all said the same thing ,a lovely relaxing way to start the day,the staff were so friendly and,everyone of them great with our dog ( he loved getting a sausage for his breakfast 😊) you all made our stay so pleasant thank you

Location is fantastic both from an ease of access and general setting; on arrival the staff were attentive and welcoming. Room was spacious and nicely decorated. Bed - comfy and extra large Entertainment - good TV and leasure facilities (closed at the time of our visit for maintenance but these all looked great) F&B - plenty of options here Was happy with the price paid however if this had been normal full rate then the value for money wouldn't have been there!

Noise - sadly the doors on the rooms are not sealed like in many modern hotels meaning noise and draft travels easily. We were also near an external door which banged loudly every time other guests moved around. Room doors are also not soft close so these added to the noise. No kettle - for any tea drinkers out there the humble kettle was missing; in luck if you want a coffee pod brew however!
