Good location for what I wanted. Room was comfortable and well-equipped. The bed was comfortable and made up each day, and tea and coffee etc all replenished without having to ask. Characterful building. Good value for money in the area.

I arrived during a beer festival - they had warned me by email in advance, but there was loud rock music right below my bedroom window till 10pm and people drinking in the courtyard, again right outside the window, till midnight. It didn't affect me too much as I was out most of the day and evening. Obviously this would not be happening most weekends, but if it does, it's REALLY loud inside as there is no double glazing. The "characterful" old building meant quite a bit of noise inside too, from the creaky floorboards etc, which I particularly noticed with a corridor running along two sides of my room. Bring your earplugs, and you should be OK!

Since I didn't want to stay at a soul-less corporate hotel, a good friend who lives nearby said to try the Crown, though he knew very little about it, and had never even entered until he met me for lunch. I had lunch & breakfast. Both meals were very high quality (portions - generous & hot!). I regret having gone into Oxford for dinner. I should have stayed at the hotel. Next time.. Safe off-road parking Staff are wonderful. Thanks to Polly, Daisy & Alina for making me feel welcome & at home. Decor is classy / rustic but understated - very nice! I understand that the building, under relatively new ownership, has been completely renovated during the past 3 years. Spotlessly clean. I was concerned that my room overlooking the courtyard bar tables might be noisy, but a few moments after I got to my room, the noise & chatter stopped. It is a long time since I was shown to my room in the UK, as opposed to "here's your key, mate. Up the stairs on the right..." Little gestures like that go a long way, and won't be forgotten I have an allergy to feathers, so Polly checked that my request had been fulfilled - it had.. I will certainly stay again for both business & pleasure Thank you Warm regards ian

This was our second visit to The Old Crown Coaching Inn. The first was on our wedding night in January 1972! 53 years later it still looks much the same from the outside, although the interior has been updated, and has the usual facilities installed that we've come to expect. The bar and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. A pleasant, characterful place to stay. There were only a couple of minor points which I'm sure would have been dealt with had we been staying for more than one night.

Bed wasn't very comfortable and duvet very thin, so not warm, (no spare blankets). No instructions for coffee maker.

The staff were very good and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic but possibly a little too much as I’m getting older. I can’t quite eat as much but I would love to have the full breakfast but they look too much for me. Food excellent

The shower room door in room 12 will not close properly appears to be possibly a problem with the top hinge not sure not a shower expert towels beautifully clean bedding beautifully clean lovely new carpet freshly decorated couldn’t ask for more first class.

Needed somewhere for an overnight stop whilst travelling so arrived at 9pm, slept, got up and left next day. Got a free room upgrade when booking. Nice and spacious. Comfy bed and slept well. Freshly cooked breakfast (did me a gluten free one). Staff very helpful. They also allowed me to keep my mountain bike in my room. Although a brief visit, it served it's purpose and would use again.

Only real challenge was the car park. It's hard to find (hidden little side alley) and quite small ("first come first served") but managed to squeeze in. I had to ring the hotel for directions to find it. Just bit of a faff late at night but that's all.

Room was lovely, shower was powerfl, although it needs a slight repair to the shower head. Breakfast was very good. Location is great, very central. We stayed on Saturday night, and after visting all of the other pubs in Faringdon we came back to the Inn and enjoyed some excellent live music. The bar was busy with a great atmosphere. A great place to stay and explore the Cotswolds.

Slight damage to shower head in room.

We stayed in the Court Room, which was huge! Excellent value for money. Comfy sofas and bed, lovely big bath and a good shower. We ate there as well, and the food and service were exceptional. The two waiters were attentive and friendly, and the chef has to be commended for the standard of the food - we thought the curried/British fusion lamb dish was the dish of the day!

Nothing!

Loved it’s location to the event we stated for. Namely my brothers wedding which was a 20 minute walk away. It was a lovely old inn with history. Great bed, which was super comfortable. Perhaps the most telling feature was the greeting we received from the staff as we were checking in. They were so warm, friendly and very welcoming. A quality that influenced our decision to cancel our recommended Sunday roast at another restaurant fir their Sunday lunch in the most beautiful dining room/call room. What a lovely find. We will definitely return, for a longer stay and more of their chef and kitchen’s menu. It was wonderful.

Nothing!

Location - good to travel around and less expensive than the more popular towns. Hotel has character, very old but rooms refurbished to a good standard. Great water pressure, amazing towels 🙂 Recommend the Court room for a special occasion, it was really luxurious. Staff all very pleasant and attentive. Good bar - great selection of drinks. Saw some delicious looking cocktails being made. Outdoor central courtyard good for drinks in the sun. A problem with my booking caused by Booking com was swiftly and generously resolved.

Some noise at night from the courtyard if you're in a room that overlooks it. Blackout blind needed in the twin room as sun streams in at 4am. Parking is limited.

The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive from the moment we arrived. The hotel has been renovated with a real coaching inn feel to it. Modern but in keeping with its history. We had a very large (superior) room, fantastic king size bed with a huge full length mirror and great furniture pieces. The breakfast room is stunning and the breakfast itself had superior produce and was so delicious - amazing value for money. Thank you to the entire team for a wonderful stay. We will definitely be back soon.

The plumbing is a little noisy when you take a shower and you could hear other residents' too. Completely understandable for such an old building but potentially something that could be looked at. It wasn't an issue for us, just an observation.
