Location, food, beer, were all good. The bed was clean and comfy and the furnishing were all new. I know that the current owners have only taken over the Waverley in the last couple of years and have improved it beyond recognition. We were pleased to stay there and will stay again without hesitation. Perhaps you could change the cups in the room more often . The shower in our room was not very powerful.

Room exceeded expectations. Clean, well provisioned-shower gels, water, teas and coffee. All facilities including an all important fan for the heat wave! Staff very friendly and breakfast on day one was great value! No 7/12 and 38 buses very close by
Not much really. we went to the festival and its a decent walk from there if you didnt use the buses, but doable!

Cute little pub, friendly "locals", and good room, with little touches that made up for the size. Easy in and out, nice atmosphere.
The location offers nothing. Except the castle. But it's cheaper than on the coast, so if you have a car, you can get to where you want to explore. The food at the restaurant was okay (given that the cook was sick; so maybe better on other days). The room was very small, and a little musty. But with an open window, all was well.

The Waverley was ideally placed for our needs - attending a family wedding at Northwood. Breakfast was ample and delicious.
The shower (over the bath was appalling. Impossible to adjust the temperature. We discussed this with the licensee who was aware of the issue. The room is one of the last due for a refit since the took over the licence 2 years ago.

I had a brilliant one-night stay at The Waverley on the Isle of Wight. The landlady, Tiff, and landlord, Dave, were incredibly friendly and helpful, as were the rest of the staff. My room was spacious, comfortable, and warm, just what I needed. Breakfast was spot on: a proper, full English done perfectly. All in all, a fantastic short stay, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

The location was perfect, just a twenty minute walk to the centre of Newport or a short bus ride. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The food was superb. You could tell this by the amount of reservations they had for the evening meals. The room and en- suite were comfortable and a reasonable price.
The hotel being on a main route into Newport could get a bit of traffic noise in the morning. This didn't bother me because as I stay in hotels all over the country I always carry a set of ear plugs.

We loved everything about the stay! The location is beautiful, very quiet but with everything you need for a lovely stay. The room was stunning, newly decorated it was like a 5* hotel. The pub downstairs was very reasonably priced with friendly staff and a good atmosphere, (great selection of ciders too). The breakfast each morning was perfect, the sausages are the nicest I’ve ever had, top marks to the chef.
Nothing, it was all just right!

The room is large, and the price is great. And the landlady is very friendly and super helpful . The breakfast is excellent, you do have to pay as it is not included in the price but there are plenty of options depending on how hungry you are. I had a £10.95 option absolutely stuffed, and the quality of the ingredients was above and beyond.
Nothing at all

Everything was very nice about our stay at The Waverley. The facilities, the location, the ambience were all top notch. Top it all off with a freshly cooked full English! What's not to like?
Our only slight issue with our stay, was, it had been an extremely hot day. When we checked in, the window in our room was fully open, but the room was like an oven. So, consequently, we had to leave the window open all night, and the road is quite narrow, with buildings opposite. The road is very busy with cars, lorries, buses, tractors, etc, and so therefore, the noise for most of the night was very disturbing. On a cool night, when the window could remain shut, it wouldn't be a problem. This little issue wouldn't put me off of staying there again though, not at all.

It was excellent value for money. A nice location with numerous bus stops into Newport. To be honest you could walk into Newport as well. The food was fantastic. I had lasagne and it was delicious as was the breakfast which was included in the price. Welcoming staff, nice drinks and friendly locals. I miss Willow the dog.
It's really hard to criticise this place. The only fault i could find was the shower which was either hot or cold. But it wasn't really an issue and i'm sure this could be fixed with a little maintenance. It's still excellent value for money.
