Excellent staff. Good room and view. Breakfasts were generous and varied. Good wine selection. The dinner menu was more limited especially for vegetarian dishes but the food was good-excellent. We walked on part of the coastal walks that were well cared for.

The bathroom didn't de-mist quickly and towels didn't dry. There was no heating on the day of arrival (1st October) so the room and lobby areas didn't feel cosy (and there was a log fire that could have been lit). Stairs were awkward for carrying cases upstairs but the staff did offer to help. The parking area at Rashleigh Arms was not a good surface to drive over and we would use the pay car park on another occasion.

The Pier House has been carefully renovated, and is a complete triumph. No corners have been cut by St Austell Brewery in renovating the pub and guest rooms above. The room was exceptionally decorated, and came with lovely little touches about the local area and beachside location. The staff are fantastic - friendly, attentive and personable. Breakfast was superb as was the evening meal that I had. The Beer House next door is a nice touch. I would certainly recommend this either for couples or solo walkers along the coast path.

Room was lovely and well equipped. Staff were friendly. Location is incredible. Food was excellent. We had dinner and breakfast and it was exceptional.

We waited for quite a long time to have our order taken for dinner as our waitress was talking to a group on an adjacent table for at least 15 minutes (possibly longer). Other tables were seated after us and had their orders taken sooner and it unfortunately just took the gloss off what would have been a perfect stay. The waitress apologised when she came to our table, but it really doesn't excuse the matter. By no means relective of the other staff who were all lovely and very attentive.

My mum and I booked Pier House as a pit-stop on our little Cornish Road Trip. It excelled all expectations. We received a very friendly welcome and the room was beautiful, with a huge walk in shower and Pier House dry robes, perfect for the early sunrise sea swim I had been longing for. The dinner and breakfast was delightful - such good, honest, home-cooked pub food with a chill vibe and excellent staff. I will absolutely be coming back whenever I get the chance to. A true gem.

The room was very hot and although fitted with a fan, still remained too hot for my mum. I am not sure how this could be rectified though?

The whole place is lovely as soon as you walk in, rooms are beautiful, clean and everything has been thought of. Dry robes and bags to borrow down to the radio playing relaxing music as you walk in the room. The two free beers in the fridge was a great welcome! Booked a table for dinner and the food was lovely. Again breakfast was stunning. All the staff were friendly. Couldn't fault it. Great weekend away!

Outside harbour noise which isn't the hotel’s fault, wind and rough seas caused a metal pontoon to bang through the night, just take some ear plugs!

Staff were clearly very friendly and welcoming. The food was much as expected. I had expected to find a little fishing village rather than a historic china clay harbour, but that betrays my lack of research.

The room was very cramped, though the facilities provided were fine. I think rooms should have some kind of dim nightlight at floor level to help navigate a way to the bathroom in the dark. The installed dimmable lights were fiddly to set to minmum brightness, which were even then still too bright. Although it was clear in the publicity, the lack of an own car park was a disadvantage.

Really well refurbished hotel. My room had views overlooking both the harbour and sea (room 20) and was on 2 levels. Area looks unchanged from when it featured in films like the Eagle has Landed in 1976. Restaurant was excellent, roast beef at dinner and eggs royale at breakfast were both superb. Complimentary beer in minibar. YouTube tv. Dryrobes also provided but didn't notice these until about to check out. Would be easy to have an early morning swim as hotel very close to beach.

Minor issue is that there's no on site parking , but can park at sister hotel/pub just up the road for no charge.

This is an excellent hotel. I stayed in a room called the cabin. I was dubious about this as some reviews were not so good, saying the room was too small. This may be the case for a couple staying for more than one night. I was a solo traveller who stayed for 5 nights and loved it. The room was beautiful, so tastefully decorated, and the coffee machine was great. The staff were super friendly and made me feel so welcome. The hotel is beautiful and the location is perfect.

Amazing views & location, refurbishment was done very well, comfortable, friendly, good food & ambience, comfortable bed, nice touches like use of dry robes & fresh milk for tea & coffee, given 2 free Cornish beers in fridge

Could have done with a light where the tea & coffee tray was & a hand towel hook in the bathroom, and there was a drainy smell in the bathroom on our arrival but it went as we used the room & aired it, maybe this could have been helped by being able to open the 2nd window which was painted shut? Small points really as we could hardly fault the place

Everything... from the first contact with the Pier House to checking out, all the staff went above and beyond to help. The location was perfect, one of my favourite areas in Cornwall.. The room was quiet and well positioned on the first floor, the bedroom and bathroom was on two levels, I would definitely request Room 3 again. We enjoyed our stay so much we extended our stay and stayed in Room 22 which was located on the second floor, this again was a fabulous room with the bathroom on the same level as the bedroom. Unfortunately, we had a medical emergency whilst staying at the Pier House, the staff were fantastic at helping and dealing with our emergency, they couldn't do enough for us. A Huge thank you to all the staff concerned.
