What a gorgeous place! The rooms were quirky with the bed on a mezzanine level - as we had our dog with us this was perfect as she slept very comfortably on the ground floor and we didn’t disturb each other. The bed was extremely comfortable, the views from the rooms and the beer garden are exceptional, the food lovely and the staff very friendly - all in all a fabulous stay. Thank you.
Literally splitting hairs here as we loved our stay here. The only minuscule thing was that the bar closed quite early for a Saturday night at about 10:15pm. However, there was comfortable outside seating outside our room so we took our nightcap back with us and watched the stars from the garden before we went to bed. So it was no problem and probably good for us to be told to stop drinking a little early!

Absolutely beautiful location with beautiful views. Staff were welcoming, friendly & attentive. The bar & restaurant areas were absolutely gorgeous with lots of character & the choice of drinks & food was fantastic especially with me being a pescatarian! Food was outstanding! Our suite was perfect - seating & kitchenette area (with a mini fridge) on one level with the bathroom & storage, with the bedroom above with a balcony to keep the area open and airy. An amusing duck theme in our room which we loved 😀 Breakfast was included & plenty of choice for non meat eaters, and set in a lovely bright but cosy & comfortable area. We absolutely loved it & would totally recommend it. It was also a perfect base for the big walk we'd planned for our trip.

I had a wonderful stay at this charming pub hotel. The large, spacious room was impressively clean, especially considering the age of the building, and the period-style décor was both tasteful and inviting. The bathroom was also beautifully maintained. The staff were lovely and provided impeccable service from arrival to checkout. Breakfast was a highlight, starting with hot coffee and fresh pastries, followed by a delicious full English. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a blend of comfort, character, and excellent hospitality.
It was a bit cold and no heat adjustments in the room.

We had Lyth Cottage which has excellent facilities and was very comfortable. The bed was comfortable and everything was spotless. Complimentary Tea, Coffee, Chocolate, water and biscuits on a daily basis was a jice touch. Breakfast choice was comprehensive and freshly cooked
We arrived late and struggled with the car parking as the pub was in full flow. In the end we had to leave the car on the road outside. You also need to remember to let the restaurant know whether you are eating in, in the evening, as places can be hard to secure at the last minute

We loved the location. Quite remote. The rooms were lovely. Quite unique with the bed located on a mezzanine floor. Amazing views from our window. Breakfast was fabulous and you could choose to dine in or out in the evening. Some lively walks from the pub.
The only thing that could have improved our stay was binoculars to check out the amazing views from our room in more detail and if the window at the front had opened.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Good location. Our dog was made welcome and was even given a dish of sausages for breakfast. I would definitely recommend a stay here. Another bonus was that you could walk from here without having to get into the car. If, like us, you aren't keen on the really busy areas of the Lakes this is a perfect place to stay.
The only fault was the broken chairs in the outside seating area. They were rotten and you could not sit on them. This didn't affect our stay as there were 2 other seats that were fine. Would be best to replace or just remove them.

Beautiful setting, loved the room, kitchen accommodated our arrival about 20 mins. after kitchen closed which we appreciated, great breakfast. Hostess was very attentive
Just one small thing... the motion light that went on automatically outside our bedroom when we left the room at night to use the bathroom or kitchen was way too bright and stayed on too long - perhaps consider a small plug in light at floor board level.

We stayed in the cartmel suite and it was perfect. The views I could go on for days. The whole place was just beautiful and nothing was a bother they even brought our meals to our suite so we could eat in peace and it was just so lovely. We have stayed many places in the lake district but this was probably the best . Great value for money especisly with all the little extras like slippers and robes .thank you so much

Our stay at was absolutely perfect! The cottage apartment was spotless, beautifully decorated, and incredibly cosy. Every detail was thoughtful, from the welcome treats to the fully equipped kitchen. The location is peaceful and with its stunning views was a dream. Our hosts were warm, attentive, and welcoming. We left feeling refreshed and can’t wait to return!

Lovely pub, great atmosphere, warm welcome. Loved the feel of this place. Room was beautiful, great decor, stylish but traditional. Room was cosy and comfortable.
Breakfast is between 9-10 which for us was too late. We have a toddler so were up at 6am, it was a long morning!! Also it meant that on the morning of check out (we had a 5 hour journey so wanted to get out early) we missed the breakfast that was included and there was no option for an early breakfast or take away.
