The staff were so welcoming, informative and helpful. Alessandra had reserved us tickets for the terrace viewpoint 5 minutes away, and we were so grateful for this little touch - it was a fantastic experience. The room was beautifully furnished, the bed was very comfortable and the shower was hot and powerful. Each room is themed with a different colour, so if you have to preference, be sure to contact the hosts. Alessandra (who painstakingly and expertly restored the rooms with her family) is a fountain of knowledge and offers guided tours around the city for guests. Breakfast overlooking the Grand Canal was quite special, and Alessandra and her team were so kind and attentive. Would 100% recommend a visit.

For anyone with limited mobility, please be aware that the hotel is up a tall external staircase, which can be quite slippery when wet. The hotel is petite, and all the rooms are right next to the reception area. Whilst the window to our room overlooked a small internal courtyard and a brick wall, the space had been transformed with a fountain statue against a backdrop of foliage. It did, however, mean that there was limited natural light, although we were rarely at the room during the day anyway!

The property itself is beautiful. The decor is gorgeous and it’s in a great central location. An easy walk from Rialto Bridge. Alessandra made the experience 10x better. Easy and clear communication in the lead up to checking in. Her hospitality was outstanding. She took us through a map of Venice to point out spots of interest and gave us restaurant recommendations. We tried two of them and they were hands down the best meals we’ve had over two weeks in Italy. Helped us with the water bus to get to the airport and even put breakfast in our room as we checked out very early. Above and beyond any host experience I’ve had. Breakfast was delicious and the woman who helped with breakfast was lovely and very helpful. A fantastic experience!

We had a wonderful stay at Salon del doge. We were looking for a neat hotel at the Grand Canal and choose to book the junior “blue” suite at Salon del Doge. In the months and weeks before our stay, Allessandra (the owner) contacted us regularly to make sure our arrival wouldn’t have any nasty surprises. She suggested us the best way of transportation from the airport. After we arrived at the airport and we sat in the water taxi with destination Venice, we were called by the hotel to ask if our trip went okay and if we needed any help. Once we arrived, we were welcomed with a great cup of coffee and lots of information about the best spots in Venice. A great surprise was the voucher we received for free access to the unique rooftop terrace of the luxury shopping mall T Fondaco dei Tedeschi. Our room, the blue junior suite, was a great spacious and quiet room with stunning furniture and decoration. We really experienced this room as “another world”, away from the tourists, crowds: it allowed us to escape from everyday life. Breakfast was great, sitting in a cozy room with a great view at the Canal Grande. The coffee was wonderfully, the abricot croissants were delicious as was the rest of the breakfast: mini pizzas, fruit, yoghurt, bread, and different sorts of ham and cheese. The suite was really clean with free daily refreshments: water, cookies, sweets and peanuts. The hotel is located only a few hundred meters away from the Rialto bridge, one of the top attractions in Venice. Walking to the Marco Polo square just takes about 10-15 minutes. Staying in this hotel was key for the success and memory of our short holiday. Alessandra (manager) and the rest of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good, freshly baked and breakfast room very beautiful since there is a canal outside the building and you could see gondolas passing by. Impressed with communication with Alessandra, responding quickly although she was not there. Also very impressed about the cleanliness of the room and bathroom and the hospitality in general (free water for everyone every day, daily change of towels and welcoming cookies). Keep it up! :)

The only things that should be improved are the directions to get to the accommodation since google maps do not show the whole pathway and we struggled a bit to find the building and the entrance/reception of it as well. As for the room, pillows were a bit uncomfortable. But these are minor considering the excellent hospitality and cleanliness.

Boutique Hotel of just x5 bedrooms all fabulously & uniquely decorated with very comfortable beds. Location was amazing. Couple minutes walk to Rialto Bridge and right in the middle of everything and yet tucked away in a small quiet courtyard setting. Has a jetty 5meters away for private transfers onto the Grand Canal. Breakfast room has beautiful view to the Grand Canal. Staff were AMAZING and couldn’t do enough for us. Every comfort was made possible. Excellent recommendations for eating out, attractions and experiences. Also helped with our onward journey and travel arrangements. Alessandra, Nicole and the team made our stay exceptional. Even our farewell and person wave from the hotel will be a very fond memory. Thank you to you all for making our stay so special.

Personally there was nothing we didn’t like about the hotel, although some may find the steps up an issue if infirm.

The staff at Scalon del Doge was exceptional! The check in process included everything from treats to maps with a little discussion on highlights they thought we might enjoy. They also presented us with tickets to see the city from a rooftop vantage- something we would not even have known existed if they hadn't gifted us with it. Breakfast was delicious and delightful and the morning view was stunning. This is NOT a chain hotel, this is an old palace/home filled with charm and personality and a small personal staff that is earnestly there to help you have the very best time. We will be back!

Manager very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful. Excellent central location 5 minutes walk from Rialto Bridge, 10 minutes from San Marco but very quiet. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast excellent (I'm celiac, and they accommodated my dietary restriction quite satisfactorily.) Breakfast room small but very nice - view of the canal rather narrow but light and pleasant.

I am claustrophobic, and found the long narrow shape of the single room, and particularly the lack of windows, somewhat stressful. Unfortunately the breakfast room was locked (when a staff member called the owner, she did get permission to allow me to sit there for a while in the late afternoon). I did not spend much time in the room, but even in Venice one does need a comfortable place to rest for a while between a long day of sight-seeing and going out again for dinner and evening activities.

From the moment we arrived at Scalon Del doge until we checked out after two nights stay, we felt like royalty. We wife and I together with our son were welcomed by the owner at check in. We met the whole family and they are all super nice. Alesandra was available at all times for any questions and provide recommendations. She surprised us with a complimentary reservation she made on top of one of the malls in Venice where we were able to get a panoramic/360 degree view of Venice. Breakfast was amazing and so delicious. Simply said, incredible boutique hotel and experience. I can’t wait to come back to Venice again and hopefully find a spot at Scalon Del Doge. Alessandra did an exceptional job to ensure we had the best time. She communicated often with us and gave a great morning brief of the city. Rooms were great and decorated in the Venetian style. Breakfast was great and plenty to eat. Location is great, only a 100 meters to the Rialto bridge. The entrance is on the second floor in a back alley so very quiet. They also have a dock out front so easy for a private water taxi to pick you up. Would stay here again!

Bathroom is a little small but you’re not in Venice to hang out in the bathroom. Also, there is a small little restaurant at the bottom of the stairs (owned by someone else). We never had dinner there but it looked nice. Only issue we had with the restaurant was one of the staff members made a rude comment to my wife saying he hoped we would leave soon and not come back.

Grazie Mille Alessandra! Scalon del Doge is the gem of Venice. Located just a few minutes walk from the Rialto bridge. It is hidden away down one of the many alleys of Venice but has a wonderful view of the canal from the front, which you can also see from the window at breakfast. From Scalon del Doge everything was within walking distance (Piazza San Marco, boats to Murano and Burano). The breakfast each morning was wonderful. Alessandra has everything you'd want from a bed and breakfast (even gluten free/senza glutine). The room was beautiful. Really unique and different. If you watch by the window, you will see Gondolas floating by every so often! The rooms were cleaned everyday (as well as sanitised before our arrival). Fresh towels were also provided everyday. Alessandra and her staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable about Venice. They are full of advice and tips and where to go. On arrival they had booked us into a viewing point of the Rialto bridge. Overall, we had an amazing stay and would highly recommend Scalon del Doge for your trip to Venice.
