Beautifully clean and stylishly furnished, bed comfortable. The food was excellent in the pub area - not much choice for vegetarians but what was meat-free was very tasty.

Very little! I live in Norfolk and will not often stay within it. Did this for a triathlon with an early start. I got the feeling staff are proud of the remoteness - poor phone signal and WiFi that is patchy for guests. I have to say, if the WiFi was better, I would drive to eat at the Hero as it was lovely (as is using Burnham Overy for a walk) - even if on call, but of course if I can’t be reached then I won’t be able to. Thought should be given to improving the WiFi.

We arrived and were greeted and shown to our accommodation . It was clean and decorated to a high standard.. There was a fridge which had a couple bottles of water and a bottle of milk in. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate were also available plus some biscuits .We went for a meal in the pub the food was amazing and the staff were helpful and cheerful. In the morning we had breakfast again top quality we were served by the cheerful and helpful waitress. We went back to our room to collect our belongings we handed the key back and we were given a goodie bag with some local produce in such a lovely idea/ touch.. We will definitely return and also recommend to friends and family. 10 out of 10 keep up the good work and you will have a very successful business if not already. Kind regards Alistair and Julie.

Everything about this place was perfect for our weekend in Norfolk. Very quiet village by the beach. Room was nice, very clean and cosy. Good quality selection of teas, coffee and toiletries. Fridge in the room with complimentary water and fresh milk. We had our motorbike parked outside the bedroom window which was very handy. Pub and restaurant areas are also very classy, cosy and dog friendly. Breakfast was very good with quality, local ingredients. Friendly members of staff deserve a special praise for creating relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. We'll be back.

TV areal wasn't catching any channels but we were not fussed about that and were able to watch tv on demand.

The Hero staff were very welcoming . Room was lovely and warm on a cold February day/night. usual tea/coffee tray & fresh milk in the fridge with bottled water. Towels were clean, toiletries were all in pump dispensers so no individual ones, best to take your own soap if needed. Meals were very nice and staff very helpful, especially the lady at breakfast. Enjoyed our stay and would go back.

The TV in the room didn't have a signal. Limited menu in the evening. Long wait for breakfast

The Hero has a lovely relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It is cosy and comfy. The food is excellent. All home made and of high quality. The staff were all lovely. Very attentive and great service. Nothing was too much trouble. The location was great for exploring the beautiful salt marshes leading to the stunning Gunhill Beach. We liked having a small fridge in the room with fresh milk for drinks.

Our room (Pollard) was quite small as we had our medium sized dog with us. We had to put her bed in the shower cubicle as there wasn't enough room around the bed for it. Also, we got woken up twice on the night we stayed as the fire alarm went off. I gather this hasn't happened before but it did spoil an otherwise perfect night away.

No place is perfect and The Hero had its downside. However they paled into insignificance compared to the excellence of its staff, food and drink and location. A cheerful, helpful, efficient staff belied their youth with their professional attitude. Amazingly for a pub nowadays it actually had 2 draught real ales available (the Wherry was particularly drinkable). Whilst the food was not Michelin rated (Thank goodness) it was more than excellent. I cannot single out any particular dish as they were all consistently delicious including the breakfasts. Ideally located to explore this beautiful part of the world, The Hero is an outstanding example of what a modern pub should be!

It would be petty to set out minor issues when compared to the overall excellence of The Hero.

We have just come back from a couple of nights stay at The Hero. We can’t fault anything, the room was great, the staff were extremely friendly & helpful, nothing was too much trouble & also very dog friendly. The food was absolutely amazing for both evening meals and breakfast, high compliments to the chef! The attention to detail was great, complimentary toiletries in the room were of a very high quality & we also came away with a tote bag full of goodies! Love it, we will definitely stay again !

The location is fantastic for access to the North Norfolk coast and the accommodation although bijou was comfortable and warm. The food in the restaurant is of a high standard and the breakfast was delicious. The staff were very friendly and genuine.

Breakfast took about 40 minutes to arrive with no apology. There was no mirror in the bathroom for those of us who apply make-up and there was some mould on the shower tiling and scuffing to the paintwork in the shower room. If these issues were ironed out then it would have been a near perfect stay.

People always say its the little things that matter. That is certainly the case with this place. Remember those little bottles of milk you got at school, there was one in the fridge. Five types of tea, ground coffee in a kilner jar. Breakfast was superb, Leaf tea in a glass teapot, smoked salmon that wasn,t sliced with a razor blade. Overall a superb experience

It was a dog friendly place but not in the eating area.

Convenient location right next to the beginning of the coastal path. It was quiet although the bedrooms are part of a pub, they close the pub around 10 pm. Broad selection of teas, coffee and small bottle of milk in the room. They gifted us a Goodie bag at Check Out which was a nice touch. Great food at the pub and you get discount on the food if you’re staying overnight.

A bit hot in the room but not a big deal.
