The location was spectacular! Ashland is a small town so you really don't need a car. And the Peerless Hotel is centrally located and walking distance to so many things. There's a coffee shop steps away, and downtown with all the restaurants and Shakespeare festival is close by, too. The best part was the hotel itself. So quaint and cozy and absolutely steeped in history. Check out the Coca-Cola mural on the outside of the building, and watch out for the ghost of the young girl who haunts the place. She loves playing with marbles, so keep an eye out for ones that suddenly appear. I discovered one in my room! Don't miss staying here, you'll feel like you're stepping back in time!

Everything was fantastic! Nothing could have been done to improve my stay, I enjoyed the whole experience greatly.

The beauty, location, and quietness of this hotel was outstanding. The redo for the amount of work that went into restoring this hotel to its previous beauty is very appreciated. Very seldom do we keep buildings that are true representations of art history; often replacing the beautiful architecture with concrete and steel. The serenity of the place allowed us to relax and believe we had stepped back to a more relaxing time while sitting in the parlor and drinking our morning coffee. It is the Lottie things that matter and leaving post cards for us to write and the staff to stamp and send was something extra too. We couldn’t be happier with our room and claw foot tub too. We actually loved it all and we will be back. This place is very special and we hope others will appreciate it too.

Nothing. Everything was great.

The Peerless is a magnificent property. When I saw the pictures online, I knew it was something I would love, however, arriving to the property and seeing the grounds and location, I was pleasantly surprised at how tidy and beautiful it was in person! It feels like staying in a historic (possibly haunted) mansion and I loved it on sight! When we got to our room we found it had a sitting room, as well as a large suite with jacuzzi tub that was big enough for our couples weekend! The bed was cozy and the colors were so bright and fun and the windows let in streaming light from every part of the suite. There are windows on 3 side for a panoramic feel as well as a quaint and cozy touch by having window coverings that allowed in light but could be closed up or down for privacy. The room was immaculate, and had antique furniture and baubles that made it feel like being at home!

When going through booking I didn’t get my email for checking in, it went to my notifications in my booking app. I called the hotel staff since there is no on site staff and they were so helpful. She explained sometimes this happens when booking through a third party site. Otherwise the property was amazing!!! I do wish we could have early check in if the room is ready.

This is a beautiful hotel. Our room was wonderful; we had the suite with the twin tubs. The hotel is walking distance to downtown Ashland. It is very quiet. We loved being able to sit out in the yard in the evening.

There is no staff on site so if you need extras (Kleenex, toilet paper etc) there is no way to get it. The air conditioner is for the whole building so it’s hard to control the coolness of your room—fans would be nice to have in the rooms. Otherwise everything was awesome!

The location is top notch with Noble Coffee Roasters a couple of doors down and easy walking into town for dining or OSF theater. The parking was plentiful in front or in the back of the hotel. The air conditioning during the 110+-degree week was terrific. The ice and filtered water in the common room were a welcome perk every day. The bathroom was very spacious, and the 12-foot ceilings and ceiling fan gave the room a feeling of luxury. The wine glasses, bottle opener, and prosecco split were a nice romantic touch for our anniversary celebration weekend. The quick response when we had to request a water jug refill for the water dispenser was very much appreciated.

The sound of the upstairs footfalls was surprisingly loud and elephant-like. Not sure if the upstairs neighbors were just walking normally or unusually heavy footed. We would have liked more surface areas for things like toiletries, electronics, play programs, shopping goodies, etc. It would have been nice to have one trashcan in the bedroom and one in the bathroom.

I lived in Ashland for years and have stayed at many of the hotels. I love the keyless and unstaffed entries at Peerless. I loved the clawfoot tub in my room. I love the tea available in the lobby. I love the cozy feeling of the small rooms and historic decor. The location is fantastic. The back entrance and patio is wonderful. The shower water pressure is amazing!

I could hear my neighbors coughing or talking or flushing. I would not recommend this for anyone wanting sound privacy. Also, the tea setup needs some help (herbal, please).

We usually stay at our favorite Bed and Breakfast when visiting Ashland but this time chose The Peerless after seeing the detailed beauty displayed in the hotel photos. Not only did we get to see the timeless Jane Eyre at the Elizabethan amphitheater, but we actually then got to stay in a period room, seemingly tailor-made for Jane herself. We didn’t even miss the absent breakfast, but relished our bagels and cream cheese in our luxurious highly-pillowed bed. As its name implies: The Peerless has no equal, is matchless and unrivaled. You won’t be disappointed!

The entire place had great character, with clouds on the ceiling above the bed and shower, the bed in an alcove, and a beautiful sitting room where coffee, tea, and ice were available all day. The room was much larger than traditional hotel rooms these days, including a love seat, walk in shower, and room to do morning stretches and exercises on the floor.

My partner is not dainty, so I prefer a king bed. Only queen was available.

The Peerless Hotel is perfectly named-- exceptional place to stay while enjoying the OSF. Parked once then able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Felt like we had been transported to another time of grace and grandeur - just lovely! Hannah was so friendly and accommodating, and the champagne with truffles awaiting us was a special treat. Thank-you!

The morning coffee was tasty but cold.
