My room was upgraded at no extra cost which was a lovely surprise. Staff were so friendly and helpful, as a solo traveller this was very much appreciated. Breakfast was excellent, dinner in the pantry overlooking the garden was lovely. The spa was small but the heated out door pool was a highlight, especially when I had it all to myself. I would definitely return. 😀

The basics are quite pricey whilst you’re there so if you’re watching the pennies this will be a challenge if wanting to make the most of the hotel.

We were upgraded from our original booking and totally loved our suite and all the hotel facilities, especially our early morning swim. It was a special occasion and we had been to the hotel years before so it was really special. We loved the swimming pool, the delicious breakfast with lots of good choices and the breakfast room with excellent staff and cosy rooms off the lobby with the fires in the evenings. Although it was winter, the gardens were well designed and the views out the windows to sitting areas and elements of interest were very pretty.

We were stumped to find anything we liked on the dinner menu! Very strange combinations and choices when we looked at the menu before arriving. My husband doesn't eat fish and although I do, crab, scallops and turbot didn't appeal. When we passed the dining room going to our room, there was no-one eating at the restaurant even though it was dinner time. Having spent the day travelling, we opted to have the 'bar' menu but again, it was limited, and then very overpriced for such small portions and ordinary food. It didn't matter as we ate out the next night and would do so again rather than have the 'bar' menu. It was a shame as the breakfast menu was full of lovely options and very tasty.

The location made it easy to get into Bath. Also the history of the hotel and the staff were great. The majority of the food was also excellent.

I thought it was quite expensive for what it was in all honesty. Despite the complementary room upgrade, it’s not cheap. Our suite was cold, the thermostat didn’t work and small things like the room being fully prepared for our arrival would have been nice.

It was so beautiful, the gardens were absolutely lovely, so the description of feeling like a country retreat in the city is accurate. The rooms were very tasteful. The garden spa and treatments were exceptionally good. The staff were absolutely lovely. As it was so hot they also provided a Dyson Air Cooler, which was fantastic.

I think I’d have liked a cafetière of coffee or the option to refill myself, but overall breakfast was delicious, the options were great. Mildly disappointed with the outdoor pool area, needs a little tlc as does the steam room. There were tile’s missing and it was very small. They ought to think about an outdoor hot tub, otherwise great.

Beautiful house with furniture to match. Great little pool. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly.

The only problem was that myself and my daughter had planned a treat night away at a spa. We chose this hotel specifically because it provided treatments, unlike many other hotels. Hotel booked, I tried to book the treatments but they weren’t available until August. The hotel was no refundable so I couldn’t rebook. Before you book, if you want spa treatments, check that they’re available.

Great rooms, beautiful grounds, nice restaurant

The spa -- it was more a swimming pool + sauna that was overwhelmed with kids most of the day (some openingly talking about peeing in it). Not a relaxing environment.

Very charming hotel, staff most helpful, wonderful bedroom with beautiful view on the (magnificient) garden. The spa is incredible and it was so relaxing to enjoy the various treatments I booked (my advice is indeed to book prior your coming if you want to avoid disapointments). It is at a walking distance (approx. 20/25 minutes) from the city centre. When arriving, it was a very pleasant surprise to be upgraded and get a superior bedroom ; thanks ++ Truly a very British & peaceful retreat where we enjoyed every single moment.

It could be nice to have a little fridge (or mini bar) in the bedroom.

Room was lovely, spacious and comfortable. Food was excellent at breakfast with a good choice and so was our meal in the bar in the evening. We did not use the dining room in the evening with the al la carte menu. The Hotel is in lovely grounds which I am sure are gorgeous in the other months of the year when in flower. The Hotel itself is luxurious, but homely. You don't feel like you have to stand on ceremony!

The only niggle I have is that it is over the front door, so when it was left to close on its own, it bangs quite loudly and it can be heard in your room. Not an issue during the daytime, but if it is late in the evening, it can disturb.

Super friendly, helpful and efficient members of staff who were only too pleased to be of assistance. Very relaxed feel. Excellent food, breakfast cooked fresh to order with extensive selection. They will even happily cook off menu upon request. Spacious room, comfortable super kingsize bed. Lovey, well tendered garden with terrace seating. Easy parking. Short taxi ride into Bath centre. Bus stop immediately outside hotel. The spa staff were also excellent and the spa and inside heated pool is a lovely place to unwind. Upon checkout they allowed us to leave our car in the car park for the day which was much appreciated. Absolutely no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Thank you to the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

My only only gripe, is the lack of available plug sockets in the room. Had to request an extension adapter which was immediately provided. Without it involved unplugging devices from the wall socket under the desk. There were no USB charging points either. For such a great hotel, I'm surprised they haven't attended to this issue.

Fabulous hotel in large grounds, which is easy walking distance to central Bath. The staff were friendly and attentive. The hotel is beautifully decorated and comfortable. The garden and grounds very attractive. The swimming pool isn’t large, but it was a gorgeous Spa facility, very clean, and the pool water was delightfully warm. Breakfast was delicious.

Breakfast was table service, which made it a bit slow; maybe a few things could be set up for self service, eg juice, rolls, fruit and yoghurt. The towels in the pool area weren’t removed if guests left them behind on loungers, which meant new arrivals weren’t clear which ones were available. However, they are minor things, and overall everything was practically perfect.
