This excellent guest house is expertly managed by Andrew and Joanne, its owners. The property has an interesting history and they do justice to its legacy by providing an exemplary service in every respect. They are ably assisted by Janet who prepared a perfectly cooked English breakfast. She engages in pleasing conversation too. A delightful lady. The guest house is very clean and boasts a grandeur not available in lesser establishments. The bed was very comfortable and the room was supplied with tasty oat biscuits. We were rather late in checking in. Andrew was courteous and helpful throughout.

Not on a bus route, a steep hill led into the town centre. But a Wetherspoons was the reward for the walk!

I recently stayed at Crofthill Guesthouse and had a truly pleasant experience. The guesthouse itself is beautifully maintained—spotlessly clean,, and tastefully decorated, with a real sense of charm. My room was comfortable, quiet, with everything I needed. The bed was especially comfortable, and I appreciated the thoughtful touches like fresh towels, toiletries, and tea/coffee facilities. The free Wi-Fi was a bonus. Breakfast was freshly prepared and delicious, with plenty of options to suit different tastes. The dining area had a relaxed atmosphere in the morning. All in all, I’d highly recommend Crofthill Guesthouse for anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay with good hospitality. I’ll definitely return if I'm in the area again!

Croft Hill is an absolutely amazing place to stay. Everything about it is brilliant. Janet is amazing and greeted me so kindly and friendly. She took me up to my room. Very high standard room indeed. Breakfast was amazing, cooked to order. The building and grounds are superb. A very beautiful location. The room was massive and so comfortable. Tea/Coffee/ Hot Chocolate and even biscuits. One of the nicest guest houses I've ever come across. Without hesitation I will stay again. Absolutely fabulous.

I have just returned from a three night stay at Croft Hill Guest House and couldn't recommend it enough. It was my first solo trip and from the minute I arrived the service was exemplary and very welcoming. The room I stayed in was beautifully clean, with a brilliant shower in the en suite and a comfortable bed with plenty of pillows. There are also tea and coffee making facilities within the room, as well as a tv and a card with the wifi code. You have the option of a full English for breakfast but there's also a choice of cereal, fruits and yogurts as well as juices. You are offered tea or coffee and its not a mug but a cafetière of coffee that you get (I can't confirm if its a pot for tea as I just had the coffee but I suspect it is). I went for the full English as I was planning on being out for most of the day, and it was very delicious. The people running the guest house are absolutely lovely. The lady who provided breakfast was really knowledgeable about the local area and incredibly helpful. I can't fault her recommendations at all and she was a pleasure to talk to. I also got a text the day before I went just to make sure I was ok for directions to get there, which I found a really nice touch. The guest house is on a hill just outside Whitehaven so it's easy to get to most places in the area but it's also a very tranquil location. There is plenty of space for parking out the front of the building and once booked in you get a key for your room and another one for the front door, so you are free to come and go as you please.

The staff were exceptionally attentive, kind and friendly; they catered to every need we had and put so much care into making us breakfast. They were incredibly accommodating and appreciative, we had such a lovely time and really enjoyed just spending time in the room for a lot of our stay because it was so relaxing! The location of the guest house is perfect for getting to numerous locations in the area and is easy to find, we were able to walk to Whitehaven and back one evening and easily drive to St Bee's within 10 mins on another day. Perfect little getaway, clean and comfy rooms with lovely staff that are more than happy to give you their time. Thank you so much for accommodating our booking and for such a special weekend!

Large, fresh and airy place in a great quiet location. Lucky people at the front of the property get an amazing see view. The staff were great, very knowledgeable about the local area and very helpful. Checked regularly if we needed anything else at Breakfast. The breakfast was amazing and all freshly cooked.

The property was quite stark without any pictures on the wall and seemed a little clinical. The beds were lovely and clean but the shower screen looked like it had not been cleaned in a while. There were also no toiletries available. Just a small amount of hand wash in the bottom of a bottle.

Perfect location, amazing friendly staff, lovely breakfast. Couldn't recommend this stay anymore. Will defiantly look at rebooking next time I am up there. Room was lovely and spacious, shower got hotter much quicker than they advised,

The only real issue there is is with the parking, there is more than ample parking, however it's a bit of a free for all.

Croft Hill Guest House is AMAZING and I could not recommend it more. The room is clean, light, big and comfortable. The House is well located, with a great parking and garden. But what makes this experience memorable is the people. The owners Andrew and Joanna are welcoming and helpful, checking in with us every morning and giving us great tips on where to go in the Lakes. The staff is warm and lovely, greeting us every morning with a huge smile. We cannot recommend this place enough and hope to be back soon!

Stunning old Georgian manor house with a beautiful spacious windy staircase, very historical feel. Lovely cooked breakfast as well as fresh fruit salad and home made bircher - nice touches! Nice spacious bright bedroom with stunning views over the garden. So quiet and away from any busy roads Janet was a lovely host and very knowledgeable and helpful with local restaurants

My only concern was how long it took for the hot water to come through both tap and shower but understandably in an older house things do take time. Bed was a bit too soft for me as I like a firm mattress

The breakfast was beautiful. The room was comfortable and spacious. The friendliness of the staff (Janet in particular) was exemplary. She really went the second mile for us.

It could have been a bit warmer.
