We stayed at this apartment for a night after arriving late (around 10:30 PM) by ferry to Larne Port, and it turned out to be a great choice. The location is excellent—very close to the port, making it super convenient for late arrivals. Despite the late hour, the hosts were kind and welcoming, ensuring a smooth check-in. The house itself felt like an older property that’s been nicely renovated. The ground floor rooms were comfortable and adequately equipped for a short stay.

The only minor downside was the breakfast the next morning, which was quite limited in portion.

My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Derrin Guest House. Everything was to our liking, it's in a great location with free on-street parking readily available, and the area is pleasant for a stroll. We particularly enjoyed our breakfasts in the light & airy breakfast room each morning (and as it was winter the lit wood burner was appreciated); there were plenty of options, and two choices of cooked breakfast too. Ivy and Siebe are great hosts and provided us with very useful information to get the most out of our relatively short trip.

Our arrival time was about 6:00 pm unfortunately we were much later and after a phone call to Ivy it was sorted out with ease Very easy to find it was a lovely large home very smart exceptionally clean everywhere really comfortable beds and a great host Plenty of parking and very close to ferry terminal We left early so missed breakfast but the best place we have stayed in by far and would definitely recommend to anyone Thanks Ivy for being so helpful

Absolutely nothing

Derrin Guest House, Larne 4th August 2024 A delightful hotel , with a wonderful host. Ivy is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Her welcome (right at the door) was warm and also covered all the things we needed to know. The room was beautifully decorated. I particularly loved the window blinds – I’m not sure how to describe them - Pure white, rigid PVC louvres. Everything in the bathroom is simple to use, and works well. There is a heater already in the room, for visitors who might find Irish summer evenings a bit chilly. There was a wonderful soft blanket in the cupboard, if the quilt was not enough. In Ireland we are famous for our breakfasts, and Ivy did herself proud with an Irish authentic, hearty filling breakfast. Just the thing to set travellers off to a good start. THANK YOU Ivy, for having such a wonderful place.

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Derrin Guest House. We received a very warm welcome, our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable and breakfast tasty and well cooked. This place is centrally located, close to train and bus connections which helped us as we were travelling by public transport.

There could have been a little breakfast menu, showing the various options available. We were not aware for example that pancakes could have been a breakfast option. Also would have been helpful to know that the direct bus to Belfast actually stops 10 meters away from the house.

Lovely top notch guesthouse. Small double room for me but ample space for a couple and lovely comfortable bed and quality bedding. Bathroom great, quality fittings and a shower over bath so flexible for those who like a choice. Very quiet at night but so close to town shops. Breakfast choices good and tasty. I loved the stained glass in the house. Nice and warm coming back from a blustery day out! Thank you Ivy, I'd recommend the Derrin!

Only criticism is the towels were crunchy, I like fluffy towels. Either conditioner or 3 in one pods make for crunchy towels. Sorry 🙏 wouldn't put me off staying there again tho!

We highly recommend this property. Ivy was very kind and welcoming! We had a great night's sleep and enjoyed a very nice Ulster Fry breakfast. Tho we didn't have them, the pancakes looked delicious as well. We had everything we needed and were very comfortable. The onsite parking was a tight squeeze, but the street parking was easy and plentiful right out front. We have only good things to say, so don't hesitate to book

Just off the main street in Larne, Derrin House is a comfy, conveniently placed B&B. It would be especially convenient for the ferry if you were staying over in Larne before heading to Scotland. Ivy welcomed us upon arrival, and explained everything we needed to know. Our room was large, and contained everything we needed for a couple of days away. My wife thought that the bed was one of the most comfortable we had ever found in a hotel, apartment or wherever. Breakfast was well cooked and fresh. Our room had louvred shutters rather than blinds, and once they were shut, the room temperature quickly increased, though that doesn't mean that the house or room was cold. All in all, a great spot, and we would consider returning at some point in the future.

Had a lovely stay, despite making a mistake myself by booking a room or one when there was indeed two of us but the hosts arranged everything on the spot. Parking on the road in front of the house was free and easy. Hosts were super nice and friendly. We even got a proper delicious vegan breakfast despite me not informing about our diet beforehand! Huge thank you for that =) Despite having a single room for two we fit the nicely with our bags and had a really good rest after a long day of traveling.

The location was ideal for our visit, not far from the airport, the people we were seeing whilst there and well located for our sight seeing travels. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice, daily specials and they catered well for my dietary requirements. Ivy was lovely and informative on places to visit and where to eat on an evening. We really enjoyed our stay.
