Nice quiet location for a getaway. Room was spacious and had kettle, teas plus free water and items were available on the landing which was a nice addition. Very friendly host helped us pick some food whiskeys to try. They had a good list of nearby restaurants but you may want to book ahead in your getting in late. A continental breakfast is available though they were short on plates and butter by the time we got there otherwise there was plenty of food. Over all great location, friendly staff and locals. Would stay here again if I was in the area.

Didn't see staff at breakfast to get clean plates.

Absolutely fabulous continental breakfast. I'd honestly have that over cooked any day. I particularly liked that the ground coffee and a load of plungers were left out so you could make it how you like it. Spacious room with everything we needed. Looked a little worn, but clean and absolutely fine. And they stocked basics like toothbrush and toothpaste, razor and shaving cream for anyone who's forgotten them. Lovely touch.

Dodgy bathroom light which randomly turned off. They weren't doing food, but the village shop is excellent and does cafe food.

Beds were really comfortable and the breakfast choice was brilliant. Lots of options for tea and coffee in the room. Shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom which was a nice touch. Carpet only had one stain by the door but looked fairly new to me. Generally really pleasant.

Noisy building and road but expected with the age of the building, just bring ear plugs if it bothers you. Slight wear and tear in places but generally modern decor. Toilet seat was very loose and not big enough for the toilet. Some dust in places.

The new owners have just taken over and they were brilliant. Friendly and helpful and accommodating with food intolerances. The bar is a real old fashioned local pub with a lovely log fire. Our room was warm, clean and spacious and the bar food was fantastic!

We feel they are going to continue to make great progress in the improvements for the hotel and we look forward to coming back to see the progress.

Really friendly staff and locals , great food with out any frills. Breakfast was good and well cooked. The couple running it were very welcoming and evening meal with a few drinks really good value. It's under new management which I guessed , the room was a bit "tired" but spotless. Apparantly they're going to refurb the rooms anyway.

Bed was a bit uncomfortable and there was only instant coffee at breakfast - neither are show stoppers and I'd stop there anytime to break my journey north.

Fantastic host who provided local information and eatery recommendations. Looked after us very well and made us feel welcome. The room was clean and well provided with refreshments. The breakfast was excellent and although claimed to be only continental, had something for everyone.

Nothing, the hotel is being refurbished but it didn’t affect the stay and will only make the place even better.

Friendly and helpful host. Size of room was excellent. Superb tea tray. Phenomenal continental breakfast - choice and quantity. On site parking. Beer garden/terrace catches the sun. Although directly on the roadside it was very quiet in the village.

Restaurant and bar were shut on our visit. Ensuite needs some maintenance attention, but it didn't affect us directly.

Felt like I stepped back in time staying in a historic home. The room was clean and had everything needed for a day or a week stay. The staff went above and beyond. The pub and food was excellent. Thanks Again! See you all in the Spring! Aloha!

Everything was wonderful. Under new management so disregard previous negative reviews. They are renovating and improving. Honestly, it was an amazing experience. Highly recommend.

The proprietor has recently taken over the hotel & is renovating the property, but the hotel was perfect for our stay. The hotel was quiet, clean & very friendly, courteous staff. The bed was very comfortable, the room was very quiet & a comfortable temperature with more than adequate supplies for tea & coffee. A lovely “ Scottish “ breakfast was very welcome in the morning, along with a really good supply of lovely coffee. We will certainly be visiting this hotel again on our return visits.

The proprietor is in the midst of renovation, hence not every thing had been turned around yet. The room could do with a refresh, but this I’m sure will be addressed soon.

Wow, such a superb location. Comfy beds, immaculately clean rooms. Previous reviews do not reflect the new management and they are and have been striving to improve things which is evident. Menu for food is not extensive and its continental breakfast with eggs which we found sufficient. Staff were absolutely brilliant, warm.and friendly I would deffo go again...our dog loved it too.
