The house and grounds were spotlessly clean and beautiful. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was lovely to relax by the pool which was a perfect temperature. Small touches, such as the cake on arrival and free water, were appreciated.

The room we were in was a bit dark and the balcony seemed a bit 'tired ( one plank has been replaced already and one of our chair legs went through part of another.). It was lovely having the private outdoor space but it could be made to feel more inviting ( and high spec to match the exterior and reception areas of the house). A fridge in the room and/or more lunch choices at the hotel bar would have been good for days you just want to relax by the pool and not walk to Bayonne for lunch/snacks ( the walk is doable but 15-20 mins each way).

The proprietess oversees the breakfast room. She makes you feel welcome and ensures you get what you want. The rooms are spacious, the overall atmosphere of the hotel is like that of a large house, which it probably was - and a very nice house indeed!

The Villa Renaissance is located about 34 of a mile (?) uphill from the town center. If you're driving, it's a great location. If you come in by taxi, you need to plan to walk in and out for sightseeing and dinner. There's no restaurant in the hotel's immediate neighborhood, just a basic tabac. There is also a limited menu on the patio.

We really enjoyed our stay. First impressions were good as it is an attractive building set with a good sized car park, gardens and, of course, the pool. After travelling, it was lovely to enjoy the swimming pool which was a great temperature. The hostess provided us with extra towels. Our room was on the top floor with a dormer window giving a view across Bayonne. The room was nicely laid out with quality furniture and had black out shutter style blinds, air conditioning and a Lavazza coffee machine and a kettle. The hotel was about a twenty minute walk (or 5 minute drive) from the centre of Bayonne which we found to be beautiful. We enjoyed dinner in a restaurant by the river. In the morning, breakfast was served downstairs. The breakfast buffet was extensive and high quality. Overall very impressive.

Nothing to dislike

Excellent breakfast and really good helpful staff. Overall the hotel was very well appointed and extremely comfortable. We spent several days there after cycling from St Malo and we were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.

It is a shame that the hotel is some way out of Bayonne and, while it is walkable to the city centre and the excellent restaurants on the river side, there is a steep climb back to the hotel.

A lovely place to stay if you are exploring the area. Room was spotless and very comfortable tea & coffee provided, also a bottle of water. Nice views. Very friendly staff.

There isn't a restaurant or a bar. Which, when you've been driving since day break, is disappointing. Nothing close by either. We obviously didn't read correctly that there are no facilities here. Breakfast is continental also offered scrambled eggs/bacon. There is secure parking, no charge. Yes we recommend IF you're wanting to explore, but not for a stopover unless you've eaten first!!

The breakfast was delicious, freshly squeezed orange juice, real and well made scrambled eggs (very generous portions), there was more than enough and a great choice. This little boutique hotel was beautifully decorated with classic/modern art deco touches. Very quiet at night. Nice terrace to enjoy at anytime of the day.

The hotel was a bit hard to find as Google Maps took us to the property behind the hotel, but we worked it out.

The location to the city, the rooms were beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. And great parking for our car. All staff were very helpful and friendly.

That we were only staying one night, hope to stay again longer

Location is beautiful as is the hotel. Staff are all remarkably nice and generous. We couldn’t have had a better room with a terrace than the one we were in. Loved our stay here.

Nice quiet location a little bit out of town with a small number of rooms. One of few with a pool that we could find round Bayonne and by far the most charming. Bus runs from the main road into town everyone 15mins and takes minutes.

This is everything it appears to be in the pictures. A beautiful Hotel, in a beautiful area. However, it was the people that were the best part. (For the basic facts of the Hotel and my stay, go to the bottom; if you want to read about what made it special, look below). I was so impressed at the professionalism, the care, and the service provided by the staff. From the moment I arrived, and even though I don’t speak French, the staff were passionate about ensuring I had a great stay. A number of the staff speak beautiful English (which helped me greatly), however even the ones who do not speak English went above and beyond to serve. Let me give some examples; I stayed here preparing for the Camino, and needed to send a bag back home. Alain not only drove me to the Post Office, he then took me to the market to find some tape to wrap my bag, and then spoke with the Post office to help me post it to Spain. It took about 2 hours, and he smiled the whole time. Another example was the amazing Julie. She was attentive, professional, and always ready to help. She managed the Hotel and customers were her first focus. She allowed me to stay past my checkout time, to wait for my Train to St Jean, providing me a drink and a beautiful terrace to wait on until my Taxi arrived. Beyond that, she helped me find a gift, wrap it, and then translated when I gave it. Amazing. If you’re looking for a beautiful, clean, and classically French place to stay, with comfortable beds, amazing facilities (the pool was beautiful), and most of all, incredible staff, then this is the only place to stay. Basic Facts: I stayed in a Garden View Room, which is exactly like the pictures, all facilities were available and excellent, the breakfast is well worth it (pastries, eggs, juices, coffee etc), the location is close to Bayonne (walking) and a short Taxi ride to Biarritz.
