There are two reasons I chose to stay at The Regent, one is it is close to the places I wish to visit, the second is I love a good old fashioned English breakfast. The Regent is an old hotel that does show some signs of wear and tear but it is clean, the rooms are comfortable and it is in a reasonably quite area. The price over time has increased and it is getting close to the point where I may have to choose a different place next visit.

The price increase since last stay is considerable, I know there has been high inflation but it seems slightly excessive. The rooms could do with a little more sound proofing, noise from other rooms can be an issue

Staff were so friendly and helpful. The hotel was spotless and in a great location. There was parking for the hotel and a lovely outdoor lawn area to watch the world go by with a cold drink. The food was excellent, we didn't have the breakfast but the evening meal menu was varied and a very high standard. Great location for exploring the wildlife park, shopping at Lakeside,Meadowhall and IKEA. Bed was very comfortable.

Booked an economy room which was better suited for one as moving around the room was tight. No air con and a window which only opened st the top which made the room very warm on hot summer days. A fan would make a great addition to the room. Next time I would choose a better size room. Parking is available but tight and there were contractors staying which took up many spaces with large vans.

Room clean & quite well appointed.

Parking. Very limited in the car park & on street is free for 2 hrs meaning you’d have to move your car or incur the wrath of the parking wardens, it is free after 6pm until 8am the next morning & free all day Sunday. I arrived just before 3pm & was going straight out to meet friends so couldn’t move my car as was suggested by staff just after 4pm therefore giving me free 2hrs further parking until 6pm when it’s free. There is however parking costing £4.50 for 24hrs a 1min walk away at Cavendish Court recommend by staff.

Good location near centre of town. Exceptionally good service from friendly staff. Good to have onsite parking - even though a little cramped. Kept restaurant open for a very nice dinner.

Bed was a bit small - double rather than queen, but was as described in listing. Water off briefly in middle of night, but restored by early morning.

We didn’t have breakfast. We loved the room . It was our 2nd stay and would like to use the hotel more . The staff friendly.location perfect .

The car park was small but understandable bring on a corner. I had my car scraped on the corner. Would have liked more support & consideration as a guest. Treating us all the same. That will cost me to get it repaired properly. Waiting for someone to give me feed back on the situation but to no avail as yet. Apart from that …….. Overall , hotel good!

We attended a wedding on may 31st, the staff were really friendly and accommodating. There was a buffet ( all looked beautiful) unfortunately iam a celiac so I didn't have anything. The owner/ manager did me a cooked chicken breast and veg, which I was so grateful for. So a big thank you.

Slightly high bar prices

This place is a hidden gem and shouldn't be. It was the best value for money on the August Bank Holiday Saturday night with an event taking place at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Clean, comfortable and an easy to use shower, I always rate the showers. An early start in the morning meant I couldn't take the breakfast though.

Why was a fire exit door propped open?

My single room was ideal, it was right near the lift, overlooked the front of the hotel and the square. Heating was 10/10 both radiator and towel rail. Liked the tea/coffee making facility and had a really good nights sleep. Excellent !

Because the light was right outside my room, when I put the lights out at bedtime - you could see the light coming through the crack round the door ... really off-putting in a darkened room ! Apart from that 10/10.

There really wasn't anything to not like if I was being picky the car park wasn't big enough but there a public car park across the road that only cost 6 pounds foe 24 hours
