The breakfast was very good with a lot of choice. All of the food at breakfast was cooked really well. We ate a evening meal which was good, it would have been nice to have had some vegetables included in the price of the meal instead of having to purchase them as a extra. Our friends had trouble with there TV remote when the staff were informed they promptly replaced it. The rooms are nice with almost instant hot water in the the bathroom.

Some of the communal areas could do with some high level cleaning as there were a few cobwebs around. The Floor in the dinning room was very dirty around the base of the tables. The spa area floor was also a little dirty. The jacuzzi was out of use when we arrived but the pool, steam room and Sauna were still in use. The following morning the pool was also out of use. Seeing the you had a pool was one of the main reasons for booking the hotel. As we all enjoy a early morning swim. The spa area could do with a little TLC.

The hotel itself is lovely, with lots of different areas to spend time - bar - cafe - general seating areas - all comfortable and attractive. Our room was comfortable, beautifully decorated and we felt "at home" which for us is what we look for. Breakfast choices were good, Eggs Benedict for me, my guests had the full breakfast and really enjoyed it. Two of us had dinner which was really good. Lots of choices on the menu.

My bed was rather hard. This is always an issue when you have arthritic knees! Can't really say more, though my friend thought the same. I did wonder whether we were rather "in between seasons" because staffing levels weren't high. I get that we need to slow down and adjust when we are away. I don't consider myself impatient but we waited quite a while for coffee in the lounge area, but were told to expect this when we ordered.

The staff were so friendly, helpful & fun. The hotel it's self was gorgeous, quirky, very clean & had lots of nooks & crannies. The rooms were big & warm. The radio was on low when you went in & the drinks facilities were full. The bed & bathroom water emaculate. The food from lunch to our evening meal was gorgeous in taste & beautifully presented.... Maleasers were a really nice touch....you have to go to find out. The talking point is the jigsaw, again you have to go. All I'll say it got everyone invested in it & you were talking to the other guests like you'd known them forever after sitting around the jigsaw. A really good find. Will return, even if it's just to finish the jigsaw.

That we had to leave & didn't get to finish the jigsaw....who knew!

The hotel location was good, the manners and professionalism of the staff from reception, to restaurant to bar staff was excellent. The roof was very clean, the bed very comfortable.

We were in the Stable suite, and at 6.40 each morning pumps came on till 10.00 not only giving a loud hum but a vibration through the floor. The swimming pool (which was the reason we chose the Crown over other nearby hotels) had children's swim on the Friday morning which took over the pool leaving ourselves and other guests astounded that it took place. The pool was not open on the Saturday morning, the reason was that a staff member didn't make it in due to snow, but the roads were flowing and the other staff members were at work.. poor show...

Comfort

Ðog barking continually during meals, staff saying they can't ask guests to stop there dog from barking because we are dog friendly. 😒

This is our second time staying in the hotel, we also stayed last December. The hotel is stunning inside, cosy little country vibes with big Christmas trees and open fire and I love the addition of the jigsaw in the lobby. The spa is amazing and we have never found it too busy. We didn’t have breakfast this year but we did last year and it was great. The location is perfect for us, not too far from York after Christmas markets and there’s a lovely pub over the road that served great food. We stayed there all night to watch the boxing. Only one thing I will say is the walls are very thin, you can hear next door talking. Fortunately for us we travelled as a group of 6 so the people either side were family so this wasn’t an issue. Beds are really comfy and the blackout blinds keep the room very dark. I had an amazing sleep. Will definitely be back, love this hotel.

Spacious suite. Good lighting. Instant hot water. Food freshly cooked and tasty . - and good quality ingredients Large free car park Pleasant tasteful decor throughout WIFI OK and miimal log on effort - but you need to repeat every 12 hours or so.

Suite was in a separate building -very close but it meant going outside and climbing an external single flight of steep steps - though I should add it has a handrail, the step edges are highlighted in yellow and they are non slip - but those old or infirm might struggle. Service at times a little slow . Being called "Guys' is a pet hate of my wife- Check in on line is possible but needs a passport or id number - and instead of UK it offers UNKNOWN as the country selection option

We stayed on the 11/10/24 for an overnight stay. We had the deluxe double room. The decor was beautiful. Very comfortable stay. We had a meal in the evening and the meal was very good. The staff in restaurant area were very friendly. I actually lost my bracelet and they went out there way to make sure I would find it. Thankfully a guest handed it into restaurant area when we were there. Price was reasonable for the quality. Very central in Boroughbridge, so close to all local amenities.

Compared to our main room, which was beautiful. The bathroom was not as high decor, still very clean and had everything we needed.

The food is of a high standard with a helpfuly waiter who was able to swap chips for another form of potato. The room is luxurious although one of the rooms was above the kitchen area and noisy.

If staying in summer would like air conditioning. Was grateful for the fan in tne wardrobe so did not have to ask for one! There was a delay in service in the restaurant - the staff were great, I just think as they were training some new staff we had a 30 minute delay before being able to order dessert. That is really just a gentle moan as the food was exceptional and the waiters were really helpful.

Food was amazing! Set in a beautiful historic village which we enjoyed exploring. The hotel was classic, and comfortable. It was also a good location for other places we wanted to visit particularly the surprise gem that was Knaresborough. It had everything that we needed. We enjoyed doing the communal jigsaw puzzle, and there was a great pizza place across the road too!

The promise of a swim in the swimming pool was disappointingly unavailable as the pool needed repairs. Not anyone’s fault, but that was part of the attraction of staying at the hotel. Some warning before going would have been appreciated.
