Relaxed atmosphere. Chris & team looked after us well. Super breakfast (order night before), great evening pub food from the chalk board selection. Pie night Wednesday. Pint best at £3-60. Good location around Thirsk area. Bus to York from Thirsk 1hr. You need a car.

This Inn was in a quiet location but that was part of the appeal. You do need a car to get about! The hosts were polite & happy to help to make your stay a good experience & all staff were pleasant too. It is obvious the venue is nicely populated with the locals after a hard days work but also encourage locals to pie night & yorkshire pudding night on alternate weeks as we understand it but alas our stay did not allow for one of these events. The room was a good size with complimentary hot drinks & kettle & bed was very comfy & a big T.V on the wall. The food was home cooked & excellent with portions of a generous size suiting all appetites & reasonably priced. Can recommend the full english breakfast & steak pie....superb! The quirky layout is quaint which makes this a very appealing option for a stay. We enjoyed our stay & hope to return another day.
Nothing to dislike

Everything was excellent. The friendly welcome given on arrival extended throughout our stay from all members of staff. Food exceptional, all scratch cooked with a good variety on the menu. Atmosphere very inviting. Lovely interior everywhere, beautiful log beams, open wood fires, although they were not lit whilst we were there, but I could imagine what a lovely glow and heat they would have given. Very friendly locals to talk with. My partner and I would stay here again if we visit the area again. We did not have to pay for WiFi.
The weather, but nobody has control over this. I would not change a thing.

The Owner and all the staff were excellent, they couldn't seem to do enough for us, from booking in to sitting down for a excellent meal, having a good nights sleep and then chatting and being given really good advice when we left they made our overnight stay memorable. We decided that we would eat at the pub because we had seen the superb reviews about the food and it did not disappoint, highly recommended
Unfortunately we felt that the place needs some TLC but for the price point it wasn't that bad. We did make the mistake of turning up at 4pm thinking that the pub would be open, however, it's wasn't, our fault but be warned IT DOESN'T OPEN UNTIL 5PM

We booked to stay at The Bay Horse Country Inn after reading other peoples' reviews and we were so glad we did. We received a warm welcome from Chris and Bev and everyone who works there was friendly and helpful. The pub is warm and cosy. We ate in the pub every evening and Bev's food is delicious and plentiful. Good value for money too. There are lots of historical sites in the area and plenty of other things to do. The village itself is charming and peaceful. We would love to go back there.

Great atmosphere and friendly locals in the busy pub (busiest Fridays and Saturdays, I understand). Separate quieter restaurant area, food entirely satisfactory. Full English breakfast was decent value (£10). Surprisingly, no pub noise was audible in the bedroom (though we were warned that an extractor fan from the kitchen would operate until 21:00). Pub has own car park at rear, but parking in the village should never be a problem. Location is ideal for an overnight stop if travelling the length of the country.
Nothing to complain about at all.

A remote location and a friendly welcome. Staff were attentive and explained the amenities of the room fully. The bed was comfortable, the room spacious. Food was available in the bar area and this was excellent. We paid for breakfast and chose a full English breakfast which did not disappoint. Car parking was available at the rear of the property.
The floorboards were creaky and I was worried this would impact on the quality of sleep - this was not the case.

Landlord Chris was very welcoming and the staff was lovely especially the girl who takes the orders . If you needed anything they went out the way for us. Food was lovely especially pie night the whole village turns up for that its great. rooms were lovely and we loved the little touch of the horses on the bed so cute . The courtyard was great for you all to gather around everyone was friendly including other guests

The food was excellent, I was really pleasantly surprised at the quality of the cooking and the meals, I ate 3 courses at dinner, which I don't often do as I enjoyed it so much. The room was clean and comfortable and I enjoyed a few beers in the traditional old style Yorkshire country pub, it reminded me of the old Woolpack in Emmerdale years ago! The owner is a really likeable guy, we only had a few short interactions but he was really helpful and friendly.
Nothing.
