I had a wonderful stay at this lodge – it was incredibly comfortable and thoughtfully equipped with all the amenities one could need for a short stay. Everything was readily available: toiletries, tea and coffee bags with sugar, a private kettle, a hair dryer, iron box, and an ironing table. What impressed me most was the convenience – if anything ran out, replacements were available 24/7 on the ground floor, which made the stay completely hassle-free. As a tourist, I truly appreciated the detailed flyers with information about visiting York, including travel tips and local taxi numbers. It made planning my trip so much easier. The rooms were spotless, and room service was prompt and helpful throughout the stay. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended for anyone visiting York!

While my overall stay was excellent, I did notice one small issue that could use attention. The garden area was lovely and had a nice sitting space, which I really appreciated. However, there was a flower pot being used as an ashtray, filled with used cigarette butts. It took away from the otherwise pleasant atmosphere. It would be great if this could be cleaned regularly—perhaps weekly—as it’s the only thing that stood out in an otherwise well-maintained property.

The staff were amazing! The distance from the city centre isn’t too long and the more you do it the easier it starts to feel. The hotel is located about 5 minutes from a Co-op which was extremely helpful as well! The fridge in our room really came in handy (make sure you plug it in). Overall the hotel was okay, it was worth how much we spent just maybe bring your own pillows!

The pillows were very hard and me and my partner found it hard to sleep due to this. The carpet is a little unclean and our shower wouldn’t drain due to it being clogged up with hair!

Diamonds Lodge was very clean and tidy. The rooms were modern and well decorated. The beds were comfortable and facilities i.e tea and coffee making facilities, TV and kettle and even had a mini fridge which was great for keeping drinks cool. We had a private bathroom which although small, was very clean. Could have done with a small shelf in the shower but that is the only recommendation. The ladies seemed very friendly and hard working and we enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

Only recommendation would be a small shelf in the shower unit to put shampoo and conditioner, shower gel on.

Clean, comfortable and tidy single room with tea/coffee, en suite, double bed, fridge, fan. Great shower pressure and temperature. Secure entry, easy to use card. Level 15-20 minute stroll to the centre of York. Bus stop immediately outside the property into York. Seems like a safe area. Greeted by a friendly and helpful member of staff.

I can't find anything to dislike. The facilities are good for the price. Not central but not far from the centre of the city.

Lovely place in a great location just 10 minutes walk from York minster. We were greeted by really friendly staff who looked after us even to the point of showing us where to park as we were unsure at first. The room was a good size and had everything we needed definitely no complaints

Very good location, ca 15 min walk from York Minster. Very good contact with the host, we appreciate possibility to leave luggage before check in time. Easy check-out. Modern access to the facility (electronic key). Tea, coffee, kettle in the room, free toiletrees in bathroom. Clean. Beds-comfortable. Superior room - perfect for 4 people.

Barhroom needs renovation...

Nice spacious room and en suite, toiletries, towels and hair dryer provided. Coffee, tea milk and biscuits with a kettle also provided. Clean room minus some slight stains. Host was nice and friendly and takes you directly to your room. Across the road from the hospital which was really handy for me as a student on placement there

Good location – easy to find with a bus stop right in front of the hotel. Room was clean, comfy, and the guesthouse is well kept. A pleasant and cosy place to stay.

Only downside was on the last night there when a couple of guests were drunk and noisy outside late at night, which disturbed our sleep.

The room was clean and spacious and had all the equipments I need (and even came with a small fridge!). Location was excellent, there's a bus stop right outside that could take me to the city centre. But usually I just take a little walk instead, which only took around 10-15 mins. The whole environment felt very safe. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. I was a sole traveller with a 25kg luggage and emailed about my situation beforehand, so the staff kindly arranged a bedroom on the ground floor for me. Overall a very pleasant experience.

The bed squeaked easily whenever I move. Staying on the ground floor also means I can hear who comes in/out since the walls are not very thick.

Comfy bed. Good facilities. Friendly staff answered the phone quick and let us in easily, let me stay in an extra half an hour this morning so we could have a lie in. Cleaner wasn't informed about this and did knock on but bless her was very understanding and apologetic. Sorry if we made a lot of noise in the middle of the night, hopefully the other guests didn't hear!
