We extended our stay for another day so this is my second review, talking about Breakfast, it was great , they have thought about every person's preferences while deciding the menu. Rooms are cozy and does the job perfectly. Watching river at night, and enjoying sunrise from the room are treat to the eyes. Appreciate the kind behaviour of the staff at reception which is 24x7 by the way. You can drop your luggage safely in the luggage room and explore the city is also one of the many things I appreciate. All in all, a pleasant stay and a lovely experience.

Not anything specific. One of the restaurant staff can be a little less rude.

Reception staff were very helpful giving advice about the travel cards and tram system. They were also very accommodating when we asked for additional pillows and towels. One of the breakfast staff was quiet rude to the customers, but we'd read reveiws about him before we went, so in a way we were looking forward to seeing if he lived up to the reviews that had been left. 😊

Unfortunately the boat is looking very tired. The bar wasn't open, and apart from tea & coffee at breakfast, there wasn't anywhere local to get a drink unless you took a 5/10 minute walk. Also, you couldn't really sit outside anywhere and relax. I'd imagine in her prime she was a beautiful boat.

The bed was very comfortable. Great view of the city. Private balcony. Spacious.

The bathroom was really small so the shower literally filled the whole floor with water.

Nice staff, nice location, good breakfast.

Some of the bathroom equipment should be renewed.

We have stayed on boats in the past and have enjoyed it very much. The two gentlemen who were in the dining room were a bit short with people as they entered the dining room. Other than that the dining room was very nice and the breakfast was fantastic. The front staff were very knowledgeable, helpful and nice. We would definitely stay on the boat again but in a different room.

We asked for a double room and got two small twin beds, I realize this is very European but we like to sleep together. Also the curtains were quite thin so our entire room was bright from the lamp post outside, we needed to pile up our bags in the window sill to block the light to help make the room dark.

The location, size of the room, view from the room. It’s easy to locate, check in was smooth with 24hour reception. Best of all, it gives you an experience of staying in a boat. The superior cabin was wonderful. Really appreciated the complementary wine in the cabin. We didn’t mind the small bathroom after all it is boat.

Except one person or two in the reception, the other members of staff didn’t seem very hospitable. I don’t expect them to know English but a smile or polite response goes a long way. I have lived in Hungary before, so I don’t assume this to be cultural. The cabin was not very clean and no extra towel was provided as door mat. I visited the hotel last time in 2015 and the breakfast service since then has been downgraded.

The Fortuna Boat Hotel was exactly what we were looking for in our off-season stay in Budapest. We had previously stayed in a similar Botel (Boat Hotel) in Prague and enjoyed our stay tremendously. As such this had big shoes to fill in our eyes - but filled them it did. We reserved one of the larger rooms but it was well chosen considering our 5 day stay. The room was spacious and had large windows to see much of Buda and Pest. Especially appreciated were the heaters in the room that provided much needed shelter from the harsh winter winds blowing through the Danube. The style of the cabins and hotel was classically naval and the staff were kind and helpful. The location is close enough to the city centre despite some reviews complaining otherwise, with only a 10 min walk to the nearest bus/tram stop and maybe 25 mins to the city centre. Of particular note was the breakfast - a buffet that had a delicious range of meats, pastries, and drinks available. It should appeal to the tastes of any guests and it was consistently delicious; readying us for the day ahead. It was given in a large room with spacious views of the water.

The one negative, and I do mean the only one, was the bed. It was not a double bed but two singles joined together by a sheet. This means that a couple staying in this room has to choose between either sacrificing one to the hole between the two beds, or sleeping apart. There were also two different covers for each person which seemed more impractical than useful, and each cover was only big enough to cover one person.

I loved staying here! The room was small, but had everything I needed. The shower was surprisingly great for being a boat and a small bathroom area. The bed was in the corner and it felt so cosy and comfortable. I felt very safe here as a solo traveler and would return should I ever be in Budapest again.

The only downside would be location; it was around a 20 minute walk from a main train station and the area to walk from the station to boat was very run down and eerily quiet which was a little daunting for a first time visitor and most buildings were boarded up and looked abandoned. This is not the hotels fault of course! In regard to the hotel itself, I had no issues! Also if any first time Budapest visitors are reading this - make sure to download the Budapest go app for transport! There were no ticket machines at the tram stops near the hotel and I assumed I could therefor buy a ticket on the tram however I was fined around €35 for not having a ticket when I tried to buy one onboard!!

Really great place. We had an amazing view on the river and all the boats passing by. The room was big, the bed was comfy and breakfast was excellent. We booked 2 nights midweek which was half the prize than on the weekend. The room got very hot during the day, but air con when turned on in the evening nicely cooled the temperature down. We are hoping to stay here again if we ever come back to Budapest.

It's not a big problem, but just to note that after showering, the whole bathroom, including walls and ceiling is wet. Also, we had few spiders in the room so we didn't open windows at all, not to invite more ;) And curtains don't block all the light, I slept with the eye mask on so no problem, but my partner didn't so it bothered him a bit.

I loved this hotel, it was a real experience staying on a boat and something just a bit different. It was a bit noisy at night times due to the occasional engine sounds but after a bust day exploring it was fine and I am a very light sleeper! The location is brilliant, it's close to the tram lines and metro and walking distance to a few of the top things to see. The breakfast was really nice to and the whole place just had a good feel about it. I would recommend to those who want to try something different. I loved it and I would stay again!
