A very good location in Salzburg with close proximity to the fortress. A good comfortable room.

Room was on the small side. We had a perfect view of the fortress out our window (and I'm sure we paid for the view) but there was construction on the building between which obstructed the view :-( This obviously couldn't be fixed by the hotel. We had to pay for parking and the private spaces were fully booked. They did recommend another lot which worked fine for us, but they didn't adequately explain how to get out of the parking garage. (there were 2 tickets which needed to be validated and both needed to be input into the parking machine before it would work in the gate machine for you to leave. We did not feel that staff explained things well enough for guests who hadn't been there before.

The property is absolutely spectacular. The hotel is gorgeous, the room was beautiful. We booked suite #447. It was spacious, very clean, beautiful furniture, the sofa beds were extremely comfortable, the duvets kept us warm. The room was well insulated and warm and had the most beautiful views from the skylights in both rooms. The bathroom was amazing. The room had full amenities, it also included buffet breakfast,. It’s totally worth it and saves the hassle of trying to find a restaurant or cafe to eat at in the morning. The staff in the dining room does a very good job. The dining hall was so cozy and pretty. The hotel staff went above and beyond. Everyone was exceptionally professional, very friendly, very accommodating and care about the guests. This was our first time at Altstadt hotel and our first time visiting Austria from California. The hotel and the warm welcome completely exceeded our expectations. The restaurant next door, Trattoria Domani was very accommodating and gave us food to eat when we checked in on New Year’s Eve. We could not book a reservation before we left the US and we could not find a place to eat anywhere. If we wouldn’t have been served by the restaurant, we would have gone to bed hungry that night. We want to return to Alstad, we loved everything about the hotel and Salzburg. The hotel manager does a great job at running the hotel and the front desk staff is exceptional. Thank you Alstad for making our first visit in Salzburg memorable. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel.

The bathrooms need hood on the walls to hang towels for multiple guests and a waste basket under the desk would be a nice touch.

The location was fantastic, very close to everything and in a lovely party of the City. The Breakfast was excellent, so much choice and all very tasty and delicious, nicely set tables. Breakfast was set up perfectly in that we did not need to ask staff for assistance on anything. The room was great. We particularly liked the shelf and seating features. Eg, walking through the door and immediately there is a seat to sit down, take your shoes off and hooks immediately above the seat to hang your coats. I really liked that. Also, the shelves along the wall, was a great touch. The bathroom was LOVELY, very stylish. The beds were comfortable too, with good quality bedding as well. Everything about the room was absolutely spot on !! Oh and the charging point for iphones was fabulous !! Really really liked that. Not seen that before in a hotel !! The hotel has really thought things through with the guest's needs in mind like the free tea / coffee making area and the seating area where you can have a glass of wine. That was pretty fab !! The free sauna, which my Husband used. Robes / towels all provided for free too. He really enjoyed using it. What a lovely treat!! The Staff were VERY VERY helpful and friendly. Really liked them a lot !! For me what stood out was all the little touches as detailed above. Attention to detail at this hotel was excellent !!

The WIFI is not great. Really weak in our room !! Connection was really slow. Also a bit limited on what we could watch on TV in English - there was no option to put on English subtitles. If there was, we could not work it out how to switch them on. BUT to be honest, we were not there to watch TV. So it was not a big deal for us about the TV.

Great location and easy to walk to places. The hotel provided a big fan to cool our room, which was appreciated greatly. The shower was nice and everything was quiet for us. Room was cleaned at least once while we were there. The staff helped us scan and print documents that we needed for work, going out of their way for the task.

The breakfast was super expensive: we only did it once, and that was out of curiosity. I overheard other guests complain about their room being close to the elevator with noise.

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely wonderful! The location is perfect—right in the city center and just a 5-minute walk from the historic district. The staff was incredibly polite and always ready to assist us. We were especially grateful to the receptionist, who waited for us until late at night because our check-in was delayed. In the morning, the waitress at breakfast was also extremely kind and cheerful, making our experience even more pleasant. What impressed us the most was the hotel’s historical significance—it is a landmark of the city due to the cinema located within the building ‘Kino’. This unique feature added to the charm of our stay. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area!

Terrible duvets and linen. From another century and should not be in a hotel in 2024! Would apprectiate to have some coffee available in the room

We loved it very much. Very clean. The food (breakfast) was great. The location was perfect, very close to the station for the cogwheel train. We arrived early, so we dropped the bags first and the staff at the front desk (around noon, October 15) was very kind and explained well about taking the train to the Zugspitze top.

However, when we went back to check in around 4pm (October 15), the staff at the front desk was terrible. She asked me to fill out the information on the tablet which was written in German, and I couldn’t fill out properly, so I asked her to change it to English multiple times but she kept ignoring my request and handling other guests check in. Later another lady (staff) came and helped to change the form to English and I was able to finish in a few minutes. We were so frustrated. We felt that the first staff lady was ignoring us on purpose. The whole check-in process took more than half an hour. It could have taken only five minutes.

Good breakfast buffet assortment and supply, with coffee machine for guest use. Nice to have a tea station available for guest use at other times. Our room and bathroom were very spacious with nice amenities. Great location near Stift Nonnberg, walking distance to all of the Old town. Interesting to be located above the Mozartkino, with Roman ruins below

Temperature control was difficult in our room. We had to open windows in winter to relieve the central heating .

Hotel centrally located in the old historical part of town easy access to most places. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable happy about lift for suitcase. Breakfast was good and so was the Italian restaurant at the hotel. Nice to have a vintage movie theatre in the hotel. Reception staff was helpful and friendly. Taxi rank closeby and so is the main train station. Really enjoyed my stay.

Would've have liked a coffee station in the room and an extra pillow on my bed, but aside from that nothing else to add.
