The location is excellent. Great swimming spots right next to the accomodation so you can be in and out of the lake all day. Peaceful, idyllic, quiet location. Good value for money for the area. Felt nice and safe. There is a restaurant attached and chairs on the lawn for relaxation. Breakfast was very nice.

The parking spots were limited, at times. But you could always make do with a precarious park. The staff were helpful, like getting you hot water and cutlery, but could be a little curt. E.g. they would not let me fill up my drink bottle before 7am. They told me to use the toilet water. It was frustrating because my bulky water bottle would only fit in the sink in the dining area and we were trying to hit the road early. Wait time for toilets and shower could be long at times. No fridge, safe/locker for guests to use.

Beautiful location right next to the lake, pleasant staff, easy to walk to hikes, the included breakfast and not included dinners were both filling and tasty. The dorm room had a sink which was convenient.

They just didn't serve dinner one time? Maybe I missed something announcing that but that wouldn't ideal if you were really banking on it. And it was fine in the shoulder season, but one toilet and one shower for the floor could be problematic in busier times.

Its old, but well maintained. They could add more sockets for modern people with tech usage, but it just across the road from thw lake, which is amazing

Bathrooms for dorms

We had a pleasant stay at Hostel pod Voglom. The location directly at the lake is perfect for hikers, with different routes nearby. There is a bus stop in front of the hostel which brings you to Bled or Ljubljana for only a few Euros. Our two bed room was rather old-school which we liked very much, as it was still comfortable. The staff was very polite and flexible regarding some booking changes that we requested. Breakfast and dinner were great too.

There are only two bathrooms (m/f) per floor which seems rather little in comparison to the number of rooms, but during our stay the hostel was not fully booked, so everything was fine.

Hostel is right next to the bus stop by the side of the lake, so super accessible and convenient. Breakfast was continental, cereal, fruit, bread, jam, ham, cheese, coffee & juice. The beds were comfy, the room was spacious and clean, with a sink which was convenient. The kitchen was spacious with a big fridge, but did not use the hob. Check in/out was easy, and reception staff were very helpful with bus routes/timings/advice. Would definitely stay again.

There was only 1 female toilet and shower between many rooms and dorms on one floor, so sometimes needed to wait.

Really a lovely, vibrant hostel. I stayed in the dorms for 2 nights. Not that the property has control over this necessarily, but everyone was extremely respectful with noise etc. other reviewers mentioned the old building/facilities-I thought it was charming, it reminded me of the summer camp I used to go to in the mountains when I was a child. There are plenty of more posh lodging options in town for many times the price. this property is directly on Bohinj Lake, and I ate at the restaurant both mornings and nights. Good food, incredibly friendly staff. It’s incredible that you can stay directly on this beautiful lake, at the absolute top of tourist season, for 35 euros a night. Definitely recommend for families and singles.

The hostel is located at lakeside about 15-20 minutes from town. Beds are comfortable, with extra blankets and reading lamps as well as a basin and towel in the 4-bed rooms. A generous breakfast is included. Staff at reception give good tips on activities nearby.

The kitchen is in need of a paint job and deep cleaning. It's disorganised and not maintained, with no system for marking food, not an appealing place for cooking or eating. Rubbish was overflowing and there was no fridge space during my three-day stay.

I loved the breakfast, they have a variety of food to choose from, jam, nutella where you can spread over toast, there's cheese and ham. It was a good breakfast The bed was super comfortable i slept like a baby The bathroom facilities were great as well The location is very good, right in the middle of the bohinj area, if you want to go left to Ukanc and the waterfall, ur half way there, if you want to go to bohinj lake and the tourist information area, you're half way there also :) I had a minor accident with the bike i rented from them and the lovely woman katarina from the reception patched me up with the bandage and helped a lot, so thank you katarina :)

I didn't find a bar of soap in the bathroom nor a a small shampoo bottle, ideally any bathroom should have at least a bar of soap for guests to wash their hands with, a shampoo i can get by myself but they should be there.

A top combination between position close to the lake,sport activities offer (like kayak, bike) and a very kind staff! Ideal for easy - going tourists, nature and sport lovers, families, scouts. Starting point for Mountains tours, by bus you can also reach all important locations (mountains, main village like the lovely Stara Fužina,but also Bled Vintgar and Ljubljana)and the railway Station of Bohinjska Bistrica (10 min) with connections to Austria,Italy and Hungary. Amazing Discovery!

The staff were fabulous. I rented a bike to look for a restaurant. I was a few villages down the mountain when a wild thunderstorm hit with torrential rain. It was dark and the roads were flooded. I was quite worried for my safety. When the girls from the hostel noticed I hadn't returned the bike by 6pm, they sent a search party! I was rescued!

The hostel needs a bit of a clean up of gear/junk that previous travellers have left behind. Kitchen needs more crockery, and basic utensils for simple cooking, like a strainer.
