Beautiful historic hotel, perfectly located in the old town centre, that we just had to stay at thanks to Rick Stein's Long Weekend episode! Our room was very well appointed, if compact (as expected!), and the overall look and feel of the hotel was of a very high quality. The staff were extremely attentive, and went above and beyond to help us a number of times.

The only criticism we had was that when we arrived, to our dismay we found that the highly anticipated restaurant was not open for lunch or dinner. Even though various posters around the hotel promoting the restaurant listed it as open daily, it was in fact closed for the summer period. At the very least, that should have been advised to us when we booked.

This delightful hotel is located right in the middle of Balogna, walking straight out into the beautiful center and less than a minute away from the enormous tower. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, arranging taxis for us and giving us great advise on where to go in the city. Our room on the first floor was beautiful, clean and fully equipped. The breakfast restaurant had a good selection of continental food served with excellent coffee. We were thoroughly happy with our choice of Carona D’ora and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Bologna.

This place is a wonderful gem for anyone looking to explore Bologna. It’s in an incredibly central location with most places no more than a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The rooms are clean and well furnished, and wonderfully quiet at night, with blackout curtains to ensure a good nights sleep. They are a touch on the smaller side if there are two of you with a few suitcases, but otherwise zero complaints. We also had a lovely balcony with a view of the Bologna tower which got the sun in the morning and was a great place to have morning coffee. The staff are incredibly helpful and always on hand to provide help, tips and recommendations for the city. Breakfast is a great spread of fresh fruit, cold cuts, cheeses, bacon, sausages, an array of pastries and yoghurts, with the dulcet tones of Angelo singing along to the radio whilst making coffee! Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting.

This hotel is excellent. They have thought of everything. Excellent room, comfy beds and pillows, light switches are positioned where you would expect them, big safe in a convenient location, night light in a bathroom, everything. They also have a fabulous breakfast, and a very friendly stuff. Did I mention the ideal location? Now I sound like I am being paid by the hotel, but it is really a good hotel.

Nothing, really nothing

Reception staff and waiters were very friendly and exceptionally helpful. The beds were comfortable and the reception area was lovely. There was an espresso machine and kettle in each room with coffee pods and tea bags. You would need to ask for milk if required. Cans of water were also provided. The hotel was peaceful and in a superb location for exploring Bologna on foot.

A strange smell seemed to be coming from the aircon unit. As you entered one of our rooms it didn't smell too good. The food was quite expensive.

This was our second time back in 3 days! Michaela on reception gave us such a warm welcome, so it was so nice to be back. We had booked a suite and the hotel management (thanks to Michaela) kindly upgraded us to the Best Suite in the House!!! This was the most Gorgeous Suite - with all the trimmings! We had to check out very early in the morning, on the day of our departure. The morning/day staff had not arrived on duty yet and the kitchen was still closed. The night manager very kindly made us some coffee and managed to rustle up some croissants, so that at least we could have 'something' before we left. He went out of his way and it was greatly appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will be coming back for sure.

Our first visit to this hotel was a short over night stay. The hotel was right in the centre, and so everything was within walking distance. The hotel interior is gorgeous and the rooms are beautiful. The evening reception staff were very friendly, warm and welcoming - nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was great and the selection available was awesome. When we were checking out the next morning, we met Michaela on reception, and we got chatting to her. She was AMAZING!! She was so knowledgeable about the area, she was well travelled, and she was so accomplished at her job - we were actually looking forward to coming back to the hotel in a few days time to see her again!!

My parents visited this hotel and they were super positive. Location is superb, the hotel looks amazing and everything is taken care of, staff are super polite and helpful, my parents even mentioned that the rooms are sound proof so you do not hear the cleaning machines on the street. Besides, the beds sleep amazing, they even made pictures of the pillow brand labels, that good. And of course breakfast with lots of options, everyday a different breakfast. So looking for a hotel in Bologna, choose this one, recommended.

The hotel is centrally located in a beautiful cobbled street, the staff from the front desk to breakfast/bar were all so charming and helpful and nothing was too much problem. The downstairs communal areas are lovely and breakfast was delicious. Our room was really well appointed and comfortable and had a walk in shower rather than shower over bath that so many older European hotels have. Lovely towels and products too. I would choose a room at the front of the property if you can. Furnishings all very attractive. It shows that it is privately owned and cared for.

The location was perfect just a very short stroll from the Piazza Maggiore. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the restaurant provided us with an excellent dinner. The kitchen is visible from the dining room so it was great to see the food being prepared. There is a very nice cocktail bar attached to the restaurant. We did not try the breakfast as we went out into town

There was really nothing to fault, the water pressure in the shower was weaker than we would have liked.
