Great location in the centre of the old town within easy walking distance of the main sights and plenty of restaurants. Staff were all so helpful & friendly and we LOVED the coffee shop for daily cake & coffee after a day out in the snow. Really nice buffet breakfast and the breakfast room had a lovely view of the river.

I haven't marked the hotel down for this but over the weekend 2 nights we could hear music playing until about 4 a.m. ( this wasn't loud but we are light sleepers and it was just enough to affect our sleep) No other reviews seem to mention this so it may have been proximity of our room (306) - which was otherwise lovely - to a music venue somewhere local. The hotel staff were very apologetic but could not fathom out where noise would be coming from. We did not request a room change as we were coming home. This is a lovely hotel & we would stay again ( but take our white noise player!)

Very comfortable hotel, great location, i was upgraded to lovely suite, shower and bath facilities were excellent with fluffy bathrobes, bed very comfortable with thick mattress, staff very helpful especially young man who helped me with the room when i had to stay an extra night and change room. Good spacious rooms even the standard one. Great safe and general supplies in the room and bathroom.

Not all the staff were helpful, some were a bit grumpy , the breakfast was disappointing, everyday was the same , i only noticed on the last day that you could order dishes a la carte but nit sure if you had to pay extra. Staff however were helpful. You could also hear the plumbing from the next room, annoying when it was in the middle of the night.

Great location, close to everything in old town. Beautiful room with lovely wooden beam ceilings & large arched windows, which open for fresh air. The beds are comfortable, with 2 doubles pushed together for one larger bed. Very friendly & helpful staff. Large hotel but with a small hotel feel. Bath robes were provided & were very comfortable. Coffee & tea Nepresso machine is in the room. Lovely restaurant on site with a glass atrium room with a view of the river. The building also has a rich history, which is worth reading.

At times, there was a slight/ moderate smell coming from the bidet. The cleaning staff helped resolve the issue. A long cushion in one public area near the entrance was ripped in several places & needed to be replaced. The hotel is too beautiful to have that sort of damaged item. Our room had a separate toilet room from the sinks/bath, this could be a positive or a negative.

The hotels have a great location, in the heart of the old town, close to many attractions and interesting places. The hotel itself has some nuances, it is quite old, and I don't mean its steel, a lot of things need to be repaired. But the team that works on providing services is just incredible. Everyone is very friendly and always happy to help. Special thanks to the receptionist Alisher, Gulnay from breakfast, the doorman and their manager. They are wonderful people who love what they do. They made our vacation perfect. In general, if you are not too picky, the hotel is comfortable for an overnight stay, it has everything you need.

Despite the old and steel staircase into the property, this is a true gem. Old merged with the new. Room clean, very large and comfortable. Access to main street is accessible through the back entrance to the hotel. We were sad to leave this hotel. A truly enjoyable and memorable experience.

Lovely welcome from reception on arrival. Helpful and friendly staff. Room was spacious, old world charm. , great mountain and river view, cute balcony. Bed really comfortable, bathroom and amenities excellent. Breakfast was wonderful, great choice of fresh produce also a la carte menu. We had beautiful fluffy omelettes and freshly brewed coffee each morning. Vera and rest of staff so efficient and friendly. Thank you 😊 Overall lovely hotel, excellent location in old town. Walking distance to all tourist attractions. Couldn't fault anything during our stay, highly recommend this charming hotel, and the lovely staff. Hopefully we will be able to return in the future.

This hotel made my little sister's birthday celebration truly special. The staff went above and beyond, generously upgrading our room to a superior one with breathtaking views. From the comfortable room temperature and excellent facilities to the delicious food and attentive customer service, everything exceeded our expectations. The location is ideal, with entrances on both the boulevard and the Old Town, placing us within easy walking distance of all the attractions. We enjoyed exploring Salzburg late into the evening. A truly perfect stay. We will come back for sure!

Great Breakfast facilities and lots of choice. Location of hotel was perfect with immediate access on one side to the old town which is pedestrianised and on the other which was a main road served by public transport.The size of the room was well appointed and surprisingly big with a river view which was a nice bonus. Bathroom facilities were excellent and shower water temperature was easily regulated and towels were regularly changed when necessary. Appreciated a quiet soft closing bathroom door, which is useful for late night visits to the toilet. There was ample seating and luggage areas in the room. Turndown service by cleaning staff was appreciated.

The only downside was the refuse smell in the elevator that came up the lift-shaft.

Hotel Altstadt is located right in the heart of old Salzburg. Walk out front door, and you are at the river and can walk over the bridges to new town. Walk out the back door, and you are in the shopping mecca of Salzburg. The castle is a short walk and very worthwhile. Of course we wanted to see a Mozart concert, and it happened to be right upstairs in the hotel. The restaurant food was excellent. We arrived after January 6th, the off season, so the crowds were very manageable. We upgraded the room, and ended up with a nice suite which included a living room, bedroom, separate toilet, and bathtub.

The building is very old and over the years has joined together with other properties. It is very confusing at first, with lots of rooms, stairways, courtyards, and lifts. The staff showed us to our room a couple of times, but once we got the hang of it, it was lots of fun. Our room had a low entryway, so you had to duck when entering, but we got used to that very quickly.

Location was great, it couldn't be any better. It is located directly in the old town, we didn't need to use any public transport while we were staying there. Also we didn't really walk more than 15 minutes for the attractions we wanna see. Room was exceptionally beautiful and clean. They upgraded our room to the superior one, it was perfect. It has a little balcony with a great river and mountain view. Sitting there and enjoying your coffee was a real miracle. We only stayed there two days: it was snowy and sunny, a perfect combination. Decoration of the room was really good. Nice combination of the old and modern style. Hope to go back there!
