A warm welcome, a spotlessly clean and very comfortable room and excellent WiFi. The menu for dinner was varied and the food was excellent. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and served from 7am which was a bonus for me as I like to stay at pubs rather than hotels but that often means missing out on breakfast which is usually served a little later - but not here. All the staff I met were friendly and professional. Booked two more stays and looking forward to them!

Nothing! One of the best stays I have had in a long while (and I am away at least two nights a week most weeks for work purposes so have lots to compare the Star with)

Lovely friendly staff who looked after us very well. Very nice room, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The dinner and breakfast were very good - nice choices on the menu and good sized helpings!

The only downside for us was the lack of a quiet room for residents to chat. We used The Star to meet friends from Yorkshire as it's about halfway between us. The only place to sit is in the restaurant and bar, which were very busy when we arrived (on Saturday afternoon). We were lucky to find somewhere to sit but the wooden chairs were uncomfortable. I understand that all the space must be taken up by tables & chairs for eating & drinking....and, of course, in summer there would be space outside.

Only here for one night prior to a flight from East Midlands airport. We received a very friendly welcome and were shown straight to our room which was spacious and very clean and comfortable. There was complimentary water, tea coffee etc plus biscuits. Bathroom was also spacious and again very clean with a great shower and lovely toiletries provided. Our greeter said she would book a table for dinner for us when we enquired and the meal was lovely. A good choice of options and the deep fried lasagna was a revelation! The bed was a little firm for us but that's just personal preference. Breakfast next day was great, good portions and swift service. The airport was an easy 15 minute drive away making this the ideal pre flight hotel. Definitely recommend and would use again.

TV a little on the small side

Great country pub with rooms, on arrival I lumped into the bar with my bags where there were several locals sat / stood having a beer and chatting, straight away I was advised where to go to check in by one of them while another said he'd just check the whereabouts of someone to check me in, I immediately felt welcome! Its nice to see that's there still local pubs like this out there! The room was great, very clean and well presented, good facilities, and a nice view of the rear gardens. Food was superb in the evening, as was the breakfast. Big mention to the staff, very friendly and helpful, this was a very pleasant stay. Good parking available too.

If I was to be uber picky, the TV in the room was a little small, but that's being very picky because it's the only thing I could thing of that I'd improve.

The Star was easy to locate. Close to location neede. Room was beautiful. Evening meal and breakfasts were delicious and great variety of choices. Really like the storage and kettle facilities. Great team all staff go above and beyond.

I was alittle unsettled first night as room close to door to accommodation area, just needs door catcher so door doesn't bang. As even I open and forgot to gentle close door to to stop it banging shut. Room upstairs could hear others using bathroom facilities and stutting thir blinds. Other than that all excellent.

A perfect country pub both for locals and visitors. Well situated, being in the countryside but not far from major routes and East Midlands Airport. The staff were outstanding, both friendly and efficient. Over the three nights of our stay it was good to see the seamless teamwork that made us feel so very comfortable. The food - both breakfasts, snacks and dinners were all delicious, freshly cooked and not just the same old standards found elsewhere. We will be back on our next trip to see family in the area.

We had no adverse comments to make. Now high on our list of favourite places to stay. Thank you Leah and the team.

Exceptionally friendly and exceptionally helpful staff - they even added something to the menu just for us! Breakfast was the best I've had for a long time. Best preparation and best tasting. Evening meal choice a good and tasty mixture of inventive and traditional (ate there for 2 evenings and 3 breakfasts). Comfortable bed, warm room, good shower. Rooms had lovely country views too

Another lovely stay. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and everyone wants you to have a great time. Breakfast superb and evening meals great value. Room was comfortable and good temperature. Always stay here when in the area. Long may The Star prosper.

Could hear guests in room above walking around. May just be that they were exceptional heavy footed as this wasn't noticeable when staying in this room before or when we've been in other rooms. Wouldn't put us off staying.

Way better than expected. Nice rooms, spotlessly clean. Friendly staff were very welcoming, even early in the morning. The full English breakfast was generous and the menu for evening food was wide ranging and good quality. We will certainly stay here again when working in the area.

I guess everywhere has some drawback. It's a pub so there can be a little noise until closing time and jets heading into East Midlands pass close by but neither seemed to interfere excessively with my sleep and I will certainly aim to stay here again if I am in the area.

Breakfast was a.must and exceeded expectations 😋 quantity, quality and choice, all with a friendly service. Who could ask for more.

Any feedback would be minor nic-picking and not really fair. Not really an issue with the Star however the Taxi service in the area could be improved. If the Sun and heat came out it would have completed the stay as the beer garden looks magnificent 👌
